I went to Hongdae at night after finishing the ceremony photo shoot on Saturday. Many people were enjoying Saturday nights at cafes, bars and clubs.
Hongdae is the scene where Korean culture, both pop and indie, manifests, especially at night. More information on planning a Sangam day trip can be soon found at K-stars and their K-style if the Korean Wave has washed over you, then there’s no better place to tread the path of such tastemakers as Hongdae, the live-wire district of music and art culture. Whether you’ve come on your own or with equally eager friends, the ever-trending university area remains the only place in Seoul where you can transition from daytime exploring to nighttime adventures just as easily as you shuffle through your K-Pop playlist.
Across the street and around the corner is a three-story store aptly named Around the Corner, Its multi-designer displays only cover two floors, but the smaller selection gives customers room to consider the subtler hip-hop motifs and mixed prints that punctuate the street wear-filled racks. Remember, just because Hongdae is more casual and “free” than, say, Gangnam or Apgujeong, doesn’t mean fashion doesn’t matter. The vibe you can see from the stores and the people on the streets, is effortless with an edge of the true Hongdae touch. I’m moving back to Seoul once covid calms down. I lived there in 97-02 and had the time of my life. I plan on raising my 5 yr old daughter in Korea.
I was born there! I’m definitely moving back. People there have sense and are respectful to one another’s health.

I studied abroad in Seoul in 2016, best time of my life. We used to spend our weekends partying in Hongdae, I truly miss it

Ah this area was the most fun place in the world for me. The street dancers and musicians, fashionable people, stores, great food, cafes, music, clubs, bars, and pizza (you'll know what I'm talking about if you've lived in Korea and visited Hongdae lol) were so great. It's never a boring night in Hongdae!

There are many shops and I would like to visit various places. The neon lights at night are beautiful.

Seoul looks like such a wonderful happy place! I want to go there before I die! I wish I could live there. Everyone seems so happy, no one is in fear of violence. It’s almost a carnival type atmosphere where everyone is just having a great time. Walk around a major city in America…sadly it isn’t like this. People keeping to themselves, not making eye contact, afraid of the people around them who might rob them….very sad.

@@lololol6614 I lived there for about a year and that was pretty difficult to do. I wish there was an easier way but I'm not sure there really is a way other than being a great contributor =$$$ or marrying someone in Korea.
You need a reality check….it’s the same in Korea and around the world. You need to get out more
@@mar7268 what's the same in Korea and around the world... Korea has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. No guns, violence, or drugs. They aren't battling with people day and night because the culture doesn't care for those types of things. I've done a lot of traveling, Korea by far had the kindest people I've encountered.

I want to make a trip to korea after I graduate with a bachelors in graphic design and I kept thinking of where to go or what I wanted to do. everyone does things like a vacation island or going to vegas or miami or go to an event like coachella and stuff but I think I want to spend a month exploring korea and the food, culture and just the vibes. I don't want a relaxing vacation I want to explore somewhere. I've been watching vlogs and videos a lot and came across this video and it's making me even more sure that I want to visit korea.

Wow! This night walk kept me busy. Lots to see. The shops, Restaurants and Bars. Many people and activities. I really enjoyed watching the people go by. Lots of couples. Nice to see them holding hands. I have visited other Asian cities the atmosphere here is different. However, I found it strange how the law allows the overspill of the Bars on the walkways. Thank Nathan again.

This country became so much in such a short period of time it actually insane. Hard working society with a good fashion sense. Everybody just looks great :D
they've been through a lot. It really is so nice to see so much of the country doing so well after the damage war had caused. I remember camping in some mountains there after meeting with a friend who happened to be teaching at a University there and we saw Tiger crossing signs. I joked about how we should watch out and learned that during war another country had exterminated every tiger there.
Thought I am not crazy about crowds - but this is so nice seeing people back out and living their lives, again...

Thanks Nathan, this brought back so many memories. I miss Seoul, particularly Hondae. Was fortunate to visit Seoul and Jeju for nearly 2 weeks in 2019 and we were planning to go again in 2020 when COVID-19 hit us. Love the food, cafes, shopping and vibes. South Korea has so many places to visit and next time will go to Busan and Seoul. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
