well the dc2 was cranked up a very little. probably like 10-20 hp. not much. the dc5 and r32 were both stock. I've heard that this body style was a lot heavier than the other r32. it was keeping up and cornering well. so it stood a chance the entire time. it's just at the end of the day it became driver vs driver and it just didn't pull off the w.
Every time I watch these races makes me happy that i bought a DC5 type S(the nearest thing to a type R in the US) I’m pretty sure I’m not buying another car that is not a Honda

Its plain to see just watching the video how boring the R32 is. Soo quiet, comfy and heavy. The complete opposite of what you should want if you want a proper drivers car.

They would end up 1 1/2 tons with turbocharged lazy engines, That favour torque over peak power (which is the enemy of a front-wheel-drive) They would be forced to give up on most of the formula that made those cars unique and great and would have to use cheap tricks to make the car perform better.. Just like that EG6 Seeker shows us, if you updated any of those cars like ef, eg, ek, crx, dc to modern standards there wouldn't be a modern hot hatch that could stand to it in a track setting...
You could tell the dc2 was designed to be a straight out the box track car and the dc5 was designed to be a tuners car. I love the look of the dc2 more but if you were to give the dc5 lower and stiffer suspension, it already has the hp and tq, it'd be so much better
DC2's driver is wrong he has not the lowest displacement because the colt R is a 1.5L what do you expect of a 150hp car against those car ? Give it a remap to make 190hp at least to compete

No way. I’ve owned all four (mk4 R32 & Gti, mk5 R32 & Gti, as well as a polo gti 9n3). The mk4 R32 was by far the best car of the lot. Very well made, felt amazing to drive, plus the sound, a very special car.
