Reminds me of when they bring out penguins to walk around at zoos
I agree
or the ducks at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.
Right?? 😆
My word, they look like Huey Dewy and Louie
H00-E
D00-E
L00-E
Beat me to it.
@@jenellapresleyvisuals eventually followed by an older, larger, DN-LD and all of their predecessor accounting droid, SC-R00J
@@wyw876 😂😂😂 totally!
As long as they don't end up like Huey, Dewey, and Louie from Silent Running.
Oh they're like little ducklings- that's so cute! I'd love to see these guys become permenant residents of the parks hopefully
Huey, Dewey, and Louie
After watching this my thought is, when and where can I buy the action figures? Also, they remind me of/look like they could be Johnny 5 little brothers or cousins.
i like nothing more than calling disney out on stupid decisions however i gotta give them props. these are cool
I think you have the right idea. Call out the stupid decisions and praise the good decisions.
I’m right there with you. I can’t support them as a business at this time but can always hope they turn it around.
Definitely a bonus. When you consider how many decades we've seen astromech droids show up at costume and comic conventions, it just seemed natural that an astromech would be the first thing you'd find at a Star Wars themed land. As far as I know we still don't have this obvious and overlooked experience but these are a nice second place.
R2 has been at Galaxy's Edge since opening and Chopper is there now, too. What are you talking about?
@@LaurenceQuint they’re talking about Disney World!
@@LaurenceQuintBut have they ever been roaming around Galaxy’s Edge?
@@LaurenceQuintI've never seen an astromech in person at either Disney's Hollywood Studios nor Disneyland. Maybe they come out on rare occasion for an hour so that influencers can film it and publish? Never seen one.
@@fifthrider Oh, well, that settles it. Because YOU PERSONALLY never saw it, it must never have happened, right? R2 is out there almost every day. But I'm sure you know better.
The moment I saw the prototype of these guys I knew it was meant to be a BD unit. So stoked to see that they are already in the parks!
Same
If you don't mind me asking, what company made them?
Cool! Their nicknames should be Huey, Dewey, and Louie 😂
HU-E, DU-E and LU-E
THEYRE SO CUTE WTF
Look at their lil WOBBLES. 😍
It’s about time we finally get some more roaming droids
That is THE cutest thing I’ve seen today! It’s been a rough week. These little droids made my day!
Animatronics we can interact with? AWESOME! Does this mean we’ll FINALLY get a WALL•E meet and great like we deserved 15 years ago? 8D
Also, I dub these three HU-3, DO-3, and L0-3.
Hu-3 needs a red paint job.
There was a wall e meet and greet tested did not get past d23 expo was a mess of unreliable as in breaking down and becoming a very expensive very heavy paper weight needing a dolly to remove from on stage and there was some liability issues cause the thing weighed 800 pounds and would be not good if a guest got accidentally run over by the treads
I love the names. I'm guessing you went with the number 3 because there are three of them.
@@RetroGirl1967 uh...no...because it's a backwards E. As in Donald's nephews!
Though... they should probably all have the letter U instead of just one of them.
It does seem weird they weren't already given names. She just keeps saying, "orange one", "blue one", "green one". Very odd considering they're supposed to be characters.
These are cutting edge creations, quite incredible.
Animatronics sure have come a long way! These Roaming Droids were awesome!
Was watching this without the audio, looked something like from the future.
Turned the audio on, it became a Lino Banfi movie from the 80s
I still miss PUSH the trash can at WDW.
Nice to see that Disney may put some money into Galaxy's Edge vs the 1% star hotel.
I hope these stick around, but considering the enormous number of cast members needed to operate them and corral guests, their obvious complexity, and Disney's history of testing new technologies and then never following up, I have extremely low expectations. I hope I'm proven wrong, however. Galaxy's Edge desperately needs more walk-around characters.
Maybe some of kind of droid show would work. I'm not sure what it could be, but some kind of synchronized movements.
From my understanding these are semi autonomous bots that use AI. Right now they have a handling team to monitor and help them learn the layout and what things are but eventually they'll be able to do their own thing, and just have a cast member hang out with them to keep them safe. With no puppeteers involved it'll be pretty staff efficient.
@@TechnoEsoterica Like I said, it would be wonderful if that was true, and I would love to be wrong. But Disney has a long history of showing off amazing projects, but those projects never seeing longevity in the parks. The stuntronic spiderman is the only example I can think of that bucks that trend.
@@kentslocum Yeah fingers crossed, huh!
"enormous number of cast members needed to operate them and corral guests"
Enormous? Looked like one operator per droid and one Cast Member asking guests to make room. You can be 100% sure that any canceled technology is canceled for a valid reason. Maybe there were insurmountable technological issues we didn't know about, or the cost to operate was not worth the expenditure, or who knows what.
Well well well, if it isn’t the stuff they should’ve had a few years ago. Keep adding new characters and “surprises” like this, and it may finally live up to the original hype.
would have been nice if the operators were a little more hidden and not so obvious but still really cool
Well it is a test...
Yeah I thought the same. I know it’s a test but it really takes you out of the “magic” when you see the operators and their remotes
@@rhvfd10 you can still test outa site
Are you kidding? They're using Steam Decks!
I think a possible issue with the operators being more hidden is that parents would start letting their little kids mess with the droids.
Four years later, and instead of more rides, we get a hotel that closes in a year and ONE of the things initially promised with galaxy’s edge. I’m so sorry, George. I’m so sorry.
They look amazing. It would be awesome to see them around galaxy edge.
Definitely if the guys that controlled them were disguised as jawas and they had one handler there would make it even more amazing!
How? You need dwarfs or kids to play Jawas. Though it would be cool, it's also totally impractical to try.
They are there because this is still in testing, once they have them fully developed you won't need the controllers at all.
@@Daedalus_Dragon I sure hope so. It totally reveals the magic trick with the 3 guys with controllers and the one guy holding the antennae, lol. These little dudes are incredible. You can tell that the controllers are just simple commands and then they have the animations built into simple actions for the puppeteers. They could even have just had a star wars looking cart with props to disguise the controls. Hopefully they have a camera on a person or something and then the puppeteers can do it more remotely and discretely. It will come I'm sure.
@@GMoney-B Yeah; they are building them with ai and voice control so no need to disguise anything, the one person can lead them without any physical control, eventually.
@@Daedalus_Dragon Neato!
The chickens of Batuu!
So adorable little space turkeys
didn't realize the steam deck could be used like this... pretty awesome. :)
You know they are just lifeless puppets, but it’s quite adorable. They are so lifelike.
Theme parks are the perfect places to test these sort of things.
I cant believe these robots are WALKING AND EXPRESSIVE if this is the future im all for it
This is a big step. Or... wobble, as the case may be.
You have to wobble before you can glide. (If anyone else wants to try filling in the end of you have to wobble before you can ______) I'm open to suggestions.
Huey Dewey and Louie without their skins.
This is by far one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!
These look awesome, but they have to be kept under 24 hour surveillance: There is always going to be someone trying to kidnap at least one of them.
Look how excited people are just watching these robots interact and take commands..This is on another level!! Can’t wait for them to bring them over to Walt Disney worlds galaxys edge!! This is amazing stuff to see happen now and for future of Disney parks.
These are so cool. Maybe a toy version will be possible in the future.
This is the way
you can see me in the background watching the three cast members with the handheld controllers. I was trying to figure out what type of controller was being used while everyone there was looking the other way.
Steam Deck!
Wow
They look like little robotic duckies!!
cute BD1!
Finally something actually new, opening day 03/19/2019
I hope they bring them to galaxies edge here at Disney World. That would be awesome! We need more roaming droids, and characters
1000% Yesssss!
I think making an R2 unit walk, even if on flat surfaces, would be nuts. It would be INCREDIBLY difficult and very hard to design, but it would be incredibly cool to see.
These chicken robots are just so cool! :)
Those are pretty cool. I wish they would have the operators not in view though, they should be off site
watching with overhead cameras to control the bots.
Sooo awesome! I'd love to build one at least resembling these.
whoah... man I need one of these one day...
perfect imitation/puppet..
🃏
Project Kiwi? Also, you could clearly see the cast members operating them at the beginning of the video.
I am concerned that they'll never be able to just have droids casually roaming around on their own (based on how much people kept harassing the one droid that was tested out in Tomorrowland)
This is awesome blthos is the kinda stuff we expect from Galaxy edge
those are easily 500k a piece, the amount of technology then when into these droids which are probably using some sort of self-stabilize gyro and to walk with no wires or harnesses is a truth feat in itself. They look and act like their alive. I say this is a Well done to Galaxy's edge!! Money well spent on the park. THIS IS HOW YOU AMUSEMENT!!
COOL DROIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wonder if the imagineers could hide as guest that are pretending to film with their phones while they actually control the droids...
The controllers are Steam Decks. I imagine it'll be possible but at the same time it's part of the magic.
I imagine in the future they'll have extended range antennas and be able to just stay in the underground maze while the presenter calls out commands through her earwig comms.
@@gamemachinejames9837I don’t see actual proof of them using Steamdecks to control them.
@@jasonlavender6487 look at the very beginning! It will show you!
they are super cute ^^
Well that's adorable
The bossy lady was hard to watch, but other than that pretty cool
That’s awesome
In about five years we’ll have a walking, talking C-3PO, no guy in a suit. Imagine all the costumed characters like this!
I like how they say "Bidoof, Bidoof".
Love this!
Amazing work! I'm not against it, but we need protocol droids and astromechs roaming.
What kind of Disney ducks are these?
😂🤣😅!
They are alive.... energy is flowing i agreee
I love them
Boy am I glad Disney is getting even a little bit of it's shish together. I love these little dudes.
A step in the right direction! Are characters coming into Cantina as well?
💕They're soooooo cuuuuuuuute💕 I want one for my🎉 birthday🎂
I'm sure if that was for sale it would make every kid get off their phone to play with it I mean I I just had a statue I would still stare for hours
That’s so cute!!
Droidtales! WOO-OOO!!
(Well, technically one of them is brown instead of red, but that’s ok)
At last. Roaming droinds, just like they promised. It took longer than it should have but they're here now.
I think these are awesome, but I hate being pessimistic, because I can see some drunk guy punting one or trying to run off with it.
They remind me of The Three Caballeros.
Yeeeeeeessssss!!!!! This is awesome!!!! What it should have been from the start.... I think Iger is realizing that he needs to charge more to keep working the company out of debt. He knows it'sits already over priced and the only way he is going to get away with it is bringing new experiences and services or bringing back experiences and services that people love.
Hope they are out when I'm there.
the best thing Disney has done in years
The robot uprising has begun
Now it's only a matter of time until cal kestis and BD-1 start showing up.
That is super cool to see.
Very cool!
I can see it happen that bd droids wil be available at the droid depot!
Bd-1 that means R2-D2 first droid robot
Cute but what about the three guys with the remote controls walking behind them? Really spoils the magic.
They’re good they’re very good there very nice
Imagine if D-O came to Galaxy’s Edge
That would be interesting
@@brianorozco1074 and funny and fun at the same time! 😅
I wish they would make a lore accurate sized Bd-1 that could hold onto your back like bd-1 rides on cal in the starwars jedi series lol
DD-1 (Donald Duck Droids) 😂
Somebody is going to attack these
Totally
Huey, Dewey and Louie
Disney out there making real droids. Let's hope it doesn't end up like Itchy & Scratchy Land or Westworld.
People go to zoos to see penguin parades. Now robot parades are an option.
BD-1 is the best
This is extremely cool.
Why don’t we get such cool cute droids at WDW??
You are soo right!!! Why can't we have nice things \
Imagineering is based in California so in park tests make more sense at Disneyland. If the concept is given the green light to debut they will probably come to WDW though
@@ParkMind What a good theory!
@@ParkMindwell they almost opened a new imagineering headquarters in Florida but something about a certain politician got in the way of that happening.
Florida man's kids would try to ride them.
So cool!
Several TH-camrs could manage better than needing a team of guys following behind with remotes. Way to go Disney.
I LOVE THEM 😭
It would be impressive if it weren't for they guys walking behind them with the remote controls.
this is awesome!
Amazing!
That's Disney imagineering, what sets them apart! Bring them to Batuu east!
They are so very cool and awesome 🤖
