SolidSonicTH Really? I see no info on that. However there was this indie game called 90's Arcade Racer that had the spirit of those Classic Sega arcade racers! Sadly it's gone silent...
+Jacob Spagnotti Ages, Shadow, Eggman, Metal and Sonic are my favourites. Nights and Reala kinda creep me out (the vehicle look) if I'm honest but they are good characters for sure.
+Sonic Fan Rob Yeah, it is kinda weird design wise, but it is clever how they put NiGHTS, and presumably Reala's, ability to turn into vehicles in their home series into the game
Luqman Csgo Well part of the character is... The car is from Daytona USA, Dreamcast Controller is the Boat and an F-14 Tomcat from Afterburner is the plane
+Luqman Csgo AGES is a VMU or Visual Memory Unit. He could connect to the Dreamcast and act as a memory card, but could also play games like a handheld, and was compatible with other Dreamcast games to gain access to bonus content, like in Daytona and Sonic Adventure. It was overall similar to Sony's Pocketstation for PS1 released after the VMUs. In All Stars Transformed AGES acts as a representative for Retro Sega as a whole, not just by being a forgotten piece of hardware. His car, boat, and plane are all based on the Hornet, Dreamcast Controller, and F-14 Tomcat, representing Daytona USA, Dreamcast, and After Burner respectively. His voice clips are also ripped from Daytona, After Burner, and several Dreamcast menu noises! THAT's why I love this guy so much!
first off thanks for the comment! =D and second of all, I have not played the 3DS version of the game but I would assume that it is the same as the home console version, to put it simply you have to get to the "Super Star Showdown" World Tour area and beat the Ranger Rush (Sprint) challenge and you can then see AGES, you need 165 stars to unlock him though. Good luck!
@@pablor.sepulveda9929 I purchased the UK physical PC release a while after I posted the comment that started this conversation on this video, so I had lots of fun with it!
haha, I was surprised about that 1st place too I wasn't expecting that Hot Rod Blast to stretch that far, I was also surprised about getting 3 All-star moves in the 1 GP... I felt kinda cheap for that but this cup is my worst one so I guess it's all good =P
Ages Character is somekind of gameboy. You can see it on the minimap, when you unlocked it, and when you finish the grand prix scene. I just unlocked all characters after taking some nostalgia. Never lose the fun
It's called a "Virtual Memory Unit" or VMU for short. Basically, you could load some mini-games onto it from certain games on the Dreamcast or, I don't know if you're familiar with Sonic Adventure 1 or 2 but, you could also load a Chao onto it and take it out for walks where you could find items to raise it. With a Chao it basically functioned like a Tamagotchi or other virtual pet-like game. Honestly, it wasn't super practical but it was still neat. In some games, it would also display little icons on the screen for various things. I think some games might have used it as a status display in like an RPG for example but I don't actually know for sure.
I didn't realise that this character exists (still quite a way to unlocking everything). This is awesome because my only complaint about this game is that they didn't have any of Sega's arcade racing cars featured in what's effectively the best Sega Racing game since... since... Daytona USA :D
SEGA's short for SErvice GAmes, the AGES moniker comes from the character representing the 'ages' of SEGA's history, and additionally from SEGA's UK Genesis campaign "To be this good takes AGES-to be this good takes SEGA." :D
TF transition sounds include the famous "SEGA!" choir when booting Sonic on Genesis, the Master System bootup, and what sounds like the Japanese Saturn bootup to me. When failing a stunt in boat mode, it sounds like a Dreamcast disc reader, or a VMU shriek.
sometimes I have to wonder if that is what SEGA loves doing most, giving people massive nostalgia trips... I have no complaints with it at all and I find it VERY enjoyable, even if I play retro games everyday :P I still love seeing things in newer games even if I just played the source game the previous day, too bad I haven't got much (ANY) experience with other SEGA titles like Super Monkey Ball, Skies of Arcadia, etc... I'll have to look into some of those I guess =P
References. Car mode is the Hornet from Daytona USA. Boat mode is a Dreamcast controller (with the engine sounding like it's infamous disc reader), and plane mode is an F-14 Tomcat, referencing After Burner.
Yeah, I always thought that SEGA was meant to be AGES just backwards but apparently the company's name actually stands for SErvice GAmes. I can totally understand where you're coming from though too xD
I suppose I see the point but I always never thought much of it, I tried BD Joe out and he does handle nicely, I mean sure I occastionally have to let go of the acceleration button to drift around corners but I kinda thought thats what the CPU's do too... that and I guess I am used to seeing computers look like they are drift hacking because Mario Kart Wii CPU's can turn whenever they please, sometimes its a direct 90 degree turn :P
I really wish I knew what to say... it is difficult for me to give any tips for two reasons; one is that there are so many different mission types it is difficult to really give anything useful throughout them all and two is that these types of racers have always just kinda came naturally to me... I will say this much though, the Traffic Attack and Tank missions were my worst ones but I just kept trying again and again... even if I didn't get any better I'd eventually luck out and win :P Sorry, I really wish I could give any useful information :/
Tap the gas each time the screen fades to black during the countdown. It's a little picky but should work after a little. I did a really bad job of showing it off in the video but there's 3 different levels of start boosts that you can get depending on whether you press the gas on all 3 of the fades to black or if you miss them and only get the last one. It might also be worth mentioning that if you get the boost on the first fade to black (3 in the countdown) or the second and miss one it will completely fail the boost.
Truth be told I can't even remember how I figured it out either, it isn't exactly obvious, is it? xD I THINK I searched it up online or something, I seem to recall reading about it at one point and I'm not sure why I'd read that if I already knew about it at that point in time. :P
Just hold down the item button, you can do the same with the firework item too, basically, anything that has a x3 variant of the item. You can still hold down the button if you've fired one off as well, of course you'll only fire 2 at once :P
He's certainly not the easiest to unlock, that's for sure. Ultimately I was (and still am) awful at the Tank and Traffic missions so I pretty much completed all the other types of missions. Of course challenge isn't the only thing that could keep a person from unlocking him, not like it's not somewhat time consuming either. xD

Ages's Jet mode reminds me of the Turbo Kat from Swat Kat's.
+ArcadeTH It's based on the F-14 Tomcat, the iconic fighter jet you control in the arcade series After Burner.
Why is this character not in sonic and sega all stars racing
Honestly, I think the boat in this game should of been a reference to Sega Bass Fishing.
yeah, I laughed when I heard the noises :P there is also the battery warning beep that the VMU made when it was nearly dead too :P
AGES IS AWESOME!!!
