Hey Michelle! I know a teacher who plays this game and loves it! Sometimes I know your room can be a mess at the end of the day and you don’t want to leave it all to the janitors/custodians. So if you have some free time at the end of the day you can play this game! Pick something around your room that is out of place, needs to be picked up or a piece of trash. Don’t tell the kids what you picked, then set a timer (2-5 minutes your choice) and they have to pick up the things around the room, put them back or throw them away. Then whoever puts away the thing you chose gets a prize! Like a sticker, a decorative pencil, or anything you’d like! This helps clean up your room in a fun game! I hope it works!
I'm literally crying that you do that activity where you see who is left out on the list where they write kids names. I wish more teachers focused on this each year. My kiddo is one that gets forgotten often because he's a little different and this is amazing.
As a mom, these videos make me tear up several times! Seeing how excited you are about teaching these kiddos and how you want to shape these little people into kind, smart, and functional humans makes my mom heart so happy. Teachers have our hearts for so many hours a day and having influential, positive teachers like you shaping our children make me so proud. Even though we are not in the same area and my children will never have you, just know that your efforts are appreciated! ❤
I found your channel about a year ago and I was in a terrible deep depression, couldn't get out of bed or eat, but somehow the only thing that would relax me were your videos, fast forward to today and my mental health is so much better and your videos are still a relaxing thing for me! So I just wanted to say thank you for that
I love how you say your desk is a hot mess but theres only like two piles of papers and maybe a few pens lying around LOL you are so organized! I hope I can be too when I get my own classroom.
I know it would be hard, but could we see you teach? Even if you have to blur out the kid's faces, while also showing us how you go about standing on the tables or desks.
I've seen people do that but the camera is only focused on them so the children are not in the frame at all and they cut out any parts where you say a students name. It might be hard if you pace around while teaching.
The shoes going down the stairs tell the difference...school is in session! I really like your sticker tabs and fun accents. Everything is so colorful, fun and purposeful. 😍🌟🙂
It's nice to see there are still schools that do the soft intro into changing classes, letting the teachers focus on a single subject, and the kids get a feel for how it all works. Most importantly all the subjects get their equal time. We had 6 teachers that were split into 2 teams. 1 teacher would do science and social studies while the other 2 would split kids by level. One would do math and the other language arts and then switch.
Well done for your first week. Enjoyed watching the way you introduced getting into routines and getting to know each other. Michelle, you work really hard and this shows, in your videos. You are a great teacher that uses inclusiveness in your activities, the way you speak, and the way you present yourself and your class. What a positive impact you make internationally. Enjoy the weekend, all the best from Downunder in NZ. Smiles
Michelle, I love how informative your videos are to new and continuing teachers. I remember discovering you when I first started my teaching program, and I still watch you today to hear about your journey as an educator and learn new things from you. I'm a big fan of your organization style, both in lessons, and in the classroom. I appreciate you sharing what you have learned, and I look forward to doing the same as the years go by. Thank you again!
I love how you had said on the first day that instead of stressing over the things that are not in your control, you were just going to relax. Great advice! :)
+C I don't understand the reasoning myself but the county is making her use their scheduling cards . Ideally the fact that she makes her own stuff would at least put that much off of the county in providing for the schools am I right about that ? Or , have I missed something ?
Point goes to +Katy Kenley . My thing is why is it that the county waits until the last possible minute to do that and force the teachers to use those after they already have their own scheduling cards up and ready ? Say the teacher does something that is different than the other teachers do at some time during the day then that means that the teacher has to make a scheduling card in the same theme of the cards that the county is making them use so which would actually be putting more work on them at the time anyway . Am I right or am I " yeah right " ?
I just got out of school a couple of days ago and I really want to go back and watching your video makes me want to be a teacher when I grow up. Btw I just graduated 4th grade and going into 5th grade. Thank you for the smart inspiration you gave me. I’m also teacher my younger brother going into 3rd grade. I’m helping him understand and help him to be really good in school when he goes into 3rd grade.
+Pocketful of Primary You are correct , Ms. Michelle !! Letting go brings you to positivity even n those negative moments that every student or teacher will have during the school year . Love all the great ideas, especially about having students write down names and seeing which kids might need some extra welcoming. I love that you are being intentional about that. ❤️ It’s also fun as a veteran teacher seeing you start to find your groove in teaching. I’m excited to share in your journey this year.
Your students arrive between 8:55 and 9:15 at my school we have to be at school by 8:00 or we get written up Edit: didn’t realize it would think I was talking about video I meant the actual time just to clarify
Well, you really tell it like it is - and that is a good thing. You are helping our first year teachers understand how to do the many things you MUST do in order to teach. Many parents don't realize how intense your day actually is, not to mention the time you spend in preparation. You must be tremendously organized and know each child - their personalities, likes, dislikes and triggers. Then you have all these requirements from admin and the district. And you have report cards for EACH child. Yes you were trained how to do some of it but most of what you now know was not from a textbook or even a college class. That first year will be the hardest year you will ever have in teaching. You are doing a great job - and now into your 5th year of teaching! You've learned a lot since that first year of teaching and it shows. Maybe you don't think so - but you did. Your confidence is high and you know what you're doing. You're also teaching older kids - bigger kids, bigger problems, but still kids who need you. Actually I'm more worried about you and how at times in your vids you seem to want to quit teaching. You were very tired teaching 2nd grade (what a bunch !) you shouldn't be crying on the way home after school either. When things get crazy remember to just leave school AT school. Leave when your contract says it's ok, go home, relax and don't do anything school related. Take care of you. Tomorrow is another day and take it a little slower. We want you around for a long time! I taught for 30 years. 3 different states and all levels k-12. I was a mentor teacher, an evaluation teacher and had student teachers many times. As the art teacher I saw every child in that school every week. Then I watched them grow until they graduated. I knew ALL my children. I still am in touch with many of my teachers who have invited me to their weddings, baby christenings and have attended their college graduations too. But remembering back to my own teacher education there is one professor I will never forget - he said "You must love your children the most when they are the least lovable." How very true. Good luck to you this year Michelle! You are special! Mrs. Dolores Russo, retired art/gifted teacher and chairperson of the Arts Dept. Celebration High School.
I just wanted to say how much you make me happy. I really wish I had a teacher in elementary school who loved doing what they do and actually connecting with their students like you do!!!! :))
I am so happy that you are back in your classroom! I start college for my teaching degree soon. This is a BIG career change for me. I am currently an IT Specialist in the US Army but it is always been my dream to be a teacher and I have finally decided that it is time for me to do what I think is best for myself!
Catherine Hart oh my gosh you are incredible. I really want to get my degree in education and join the peace corp after I get my degree. So hearing your story was wonderfully heartwarming
I've been a teacher for about 15 years, and as I watch your videos I can't help but feeling so much admiration for you, such a passionate devoted professional you are, I bet you would make an excellent mother someday. Regards
Michelle, I just wanted to let you know that as a new teacher (I'm a sub at the moment, but my name recently got placed on my board's long-term supply list, so I'm hoping to have a classroom of my own at some point this year! Fingers crossed!), you are truly an inspiration to me. I look forward to your videos every week, and I just want to say thank you for your positivity, your energy, and your ideas. I hope I can have just as much of an impact on my own students one day.
Enjoyable to watch. I really like to see what exactly you are teaching and how. The how makes the biggest difference. Your lessons seem so dynamic! Thank you
My daughter just brought "The Invisible Boy" Home from the library at school this week and we read it together (she's second grade) and we just loved it! What a sweet story. And I agree it would make a wonderful first week of school story!
I love all your teaching and organization ideas. Thanks for sharing. I just put a skirt into my amazon cart and some of your products into my tpt cart. 😜
Hi, I’m 14 and I really want to teach! Right now I’m studying for cytology , but I mind will start off as a teacher! I’m so inspired by you! I want to be an elementary teacher, their less to handle sometimes. When I mean I’m studying for cytology I’m constantly preparing for college and I’m also a straight A student! Anywayyysss , your a very big model to me and other future teachers!
Hi Michelle! I am not an adult or a teacher, just a kid but in the future i'm am really thinking about becoming a teacher because i know how hard and not that fun it is to do school, so i want to be that one fun teacher that all of the kids love but, also let the kids get there work done.. your really inspiring me to persuade my dream!
I absolutely love how you create a classroom community/family. I have learned so much from you in this area that I try to incorporate in my classroom. I also love the activity where you have students write as many classmate names as they can... I LOVE this idea and will be incorporating this into my classroom next year. You are such an inspiration and #goals. :)
Inspiration! Your videos give me confidence. I am working toward being a daycare provider, and I hope to be as great as a teacher to my children like you to yours ☀❤
Living in the desert where it’s always at LEAST 100 degrees, it’s funny that kids can’t go outside in MD if the temperature is over 100°. I know the humidity makes it worse. But, it seems odd compared to our area. I DO bring crushed ice for them after their afternoon recess.
That's so interesting. I live in Saudi Arabia where it is over 100 degrees for a large part of the school year. While we didn't have a hard and fast rule, parents weren't happy if we went outside to play and the Saudi staff found it strange that I would even want to.
Love that the weekly blogs are back! I only do Dunkin’ on Friday mornings during the week and it really gives you something to look forward to lol! Plus saves time & money
I just started watching your videos and now I'm jealous that these kids get such a fun awesome teacher and wish my teachers had put this much time and love into their jobs. They will remember this for years to come, keep up the awesome job!
Another good website like Kahoot is Quizziz and it allows the students to answer the questions at their own pace. I’m in eighth grade and everyone in my classes really love it!
My second grade teacher did this at the end of the day you pick 4 “mystery trash” peices they get 2 minutes to pick up as much trash as they can they go up to the teacher and show the teacher what they picked up if someone gets a mystery trash they get a treat if the get all four they get four treats so on so fourth by the end of the day the room would be spotless definitely recommend
I am a little late on your videos. However, I am sooooooo excited that school has started. I just love your videos. The love and passion you have in teaching really shows. I wished that when I was a fourth grader and even when my children were fourth graders we would have had a teacher who really loved what they were doing.
What a tiring but awesome first week of school! I still remember those vlogs from a few years back when you were still in second grade and how unhappy we could tell you were. You are GLOWING in this school and grade!!
so ive always wanted to be something with children and you have inspired to look towards being a teacher, and im starting my A- levels this year and I had work experience last year and i absolutely loved it! Thank you.
I love how you try to connect with your students and how you want to make them better people! My math teacher told my class, “I am here to get you ready for Algebra, not to be your friend! All I’m supposed to teach you is math, so that is what I do.”
You are such a great teacher!! I’m a sophomore in high school and hope to be a teacher one day (en elementary teacher - either 4th or 5th ideally) I wanted to be a teacher since I was 3 years old in preschool! You are such an inspiration- I hope I can be as good as you!
The bandaid activity is fantastic! As a child I used to get very jealous of kids getting what I thought was special treatment- now I realise it was the support they needed
I’m watching this for the first time August 2020. Wow-what a difference a year makes....We got this educators, be it in-person, hybrid, or full remote🙌🏻💪🏻🥰
OMG WHEN I LOOKED DOWN AT MY PHONE, I SAW YOU WERE DOING THE FRED THING. MY SCIENCE TEACHER HAD US DO THE SAME EXACT THING AND I'M IN 8TH GRADE IN NEW YORK. sorry for the caps. i got excited lol
I love the band aid activity to get across the idea of fairness. I also really like the idea of having them write classmates names. These are good ideas I'll need to keep for later. I understand teacher tired. We are finishing our 5th week of school already. Teacher tired still creeps in some days!! Hope you have an awesome year. Looks like it is off to a great start!
I did the band aid activity with my grade 7s today and it went so well! We were discussing a short story with the themes of prejudice and discrimination, and one of the discussion questions was “what makes a situation fair?” We talked about it, and then I did the band aid thing which lead to another great discussion afterwards. Thank you Michelle!
oh my god the weird wiggle crimped board borders are everywhere they're in england too *i miss primary school, year 9 is a pain, why do i have to be 14*
@@lescreationsdestephanie3639 Not sure, you'd have to call and ask. It's a secret level in the US. I'm sure since it's online it shouldn't be a problem if you call and ask for it nicely.
Hi there Michelle!! I'm 21 and I've been really lost on what I want to do as a career but I've really been considering teaching! I just want to say that your videos have been super inspiring!! Have a phenomenal day :]!
u are such an inspiring person ! as a student and a runner, u inspire me so much!! i love to school tips u give! u probably won’t read this but if u do just know u are so amazing and i would love to have u as a teacher! love and respect forever !❤️❤️
I found you a while ago and because of you I tried ice coffee I drink it everyday now i also go to my local coffee house and do all my school work there (i do online school) just want to let you know you made my life a little bit better

My teacher does that to she still does we call it mystery trash or mystery item
That's a great idea!
My teacher did it in my fourth grade class

As a person with OCD, the organization and coordination of the entire classroom is sooooooo relaxing and satisfying!!
What's the reasoning behind country wide schedule cards?! That seems like it should just be up to the teacher what they look like.

I don't understand the reasoning myself but the county is making her use their scheduling cards .

Y’all this is from 2018😂I’m watching this in 2019 and school is about to start back again 😁
I just started watching your videos and now I'm jealous that these kids get such a fun awesome teacher and wish my teachers had put this much time and love into their jobs. They will remember this for years to come, keep up the awesome job!
Great Video!!!! Have been looking forward to new classroom videos since last years ended
Another good website like Kahoot is Quizziz and it allows the students to answer the questions at their own pace. I’m in eighth grade and everyone in my classes really love it!
We’re I live, it’s over 100 everyday for the first two weeks of school. But it’s cooling down I think.
OMG YOU ARE A ICE VANILLA LATTE GURL! ME TOO!
I’m a Starbucks kinda girl 💕
I am a little late on your videos. However, I am sooooooo excited that school has started. I just love your videos. The love and passion you have in teaching really shows. I wished that when I was a fourth grader and even when my children were fourth graders we would have had a teacher who really loved what they were doing.
Anyone else watching this in June?
Nope just me! Akward
Ashton Elizabeth Oliver I am! 😂
I am watching in July but I am going to still like 😀
July
@@alliea242 July
Awkward* >:)
What a tiring but awesome first week of school! I still remember those vlogs from a few years back when you were still in second grade and how unhappy we could tell you were. You are GLOWING in this school and grade!!
I'm dead I did the "If I ran the world poem" IN 7TH GRADE!!! 😂😂
so ive always wanted to be something with children and you have inspired to look towards being a teacher, and im starting my A- levels this year and I had work experience last year and i absolutely loved it! Thank you.
Yay I'm so excited to watch this!
I love how you try to connect with your students and how you want to make them better people! My math teacher told my class, “I am here to get you ready for Algebra, not to be your friend! All I’m supposed to teach you is math, so that is what I do.”
I’m early and of course it’s the one time I don’t know what to say except that I love this channel
So so so thrilled to have your weekly blogs back!!
I can’t find any of those erasers this year at our dollar tree. Loved having them last year.
I choose Kind I want some!!
You are such a great teacher!! I’m a sophomore in high school and hope to be a teacher one day (en elementary teacher - either 4th or 5th ideally) I wanted to be a teacher since I was 3 years old in preschool! You are such an inspiration- I hope I can be as good as you!
27:00-27:58 (PREACHHHHHH)
The bandaid activity is fantastic! As a child I used to get very jealous of kids getting what I thought was special treatment- now I realise it was the support they needed
Were do you get your skirts from????
macy diy Amazon
It’s not the school year until I see a classroom vlog! Love your videos! I also love how you do your jobs!
I love your purple skirt! 1:10
Emily Burns she has that skirt from amazon in 5 colours! Lol 😂 love her!!! XX
I’m watching this for the first time August 2020. Wow-what a difference a year makes....We got this educators, be it in-person, hybrid, or full remote🙌🏻💪🏻🥰
Hmmmmm @Wed -2020 Virtual “Open House”???? 🤔
@Thursday wow-How I Would Change The World? 🌎 Then and Now🤔
OMG WHEN I LOOKED DOWN AT MY PHONE, I SAW YOU WERE DOING THE FRED THING.
Can you move to ct please ( and be a 7th grade teacher?) your my favorite!!
omg you inspire me so much you make me wanna get up and go to school with your bright smile!! thank you
Who have a fire drill on first day school
I did the band aid activity with my grade 7s today and it went so well! We were discussing a short story with the themes of prejudice and discrimination, and one of the discussion questions was “what makes a situation fair?” We talked about it, and then I did the band aid thing which lead to another great discussion afterwards. Thank you Michelle!
oh my god the weird wiggle crimped board borders are everywhere
they're in england too
*i miss primary school, year 9 is a pain, why do i have to be 14*
Yay! Glad the vlogs are back, but this confused me soooo much! Totally thought it was Saturday because this was in the feed!
As someone in Texas, I’m very jealous y’all couldn’t go outside because it was too hot.
Allison Bowling I know, right? Central Texas here
Dee Tee same. Well kind of. I’m in Abilene so it could be east, west, north, or central depending on who you’re talking to lol
I’m in Brady, almost the geographic center. I went to ACU, so I’m familiar with Abilene.
Allison Bowling Georgia here! It was 100 today and the kids were miserable but we have to give them 30 minutes. I was dripping!
I'm in England. I don't even know what hot weather is 😂
31:12 the lighting is beautiful
Could you incorporate your schedule magnets with the ones your school gave you?
I've missed your teaching vlogs so much, so happy to see this!
HP Instant Ink is life! But in Canada, the maximum is 300... 🙄
The max here is 300 too unless you CALL them and ask for the secret special price of 500 for $15.
@@aprilr8119 Even in Canada?
Is this cheaper than buying them at Costco?
@@jenniehong6842 Yes!
Are you able to wash your whiteboard erasers? I tried and they still look like yours.
Les créations de Stéphanie I SO want to find those!
@@limabean143 I don't really like them...
Les créations de Stéphanie I just bought a class set 😬
@@limabean143 Some people like them, some people don't. I don't because it is hard to erase with them (laminated sheet, small whiteboard).
I love how when she passes out papers she makes them perfect 💕
You remind me of my assistant principal except I actually like you😂
I found you a while ago and because of you I tried ice coffee I drink it everyday now i also go to my local coffee house and do all my school work there (i do online school) just want to let you know you made my life a little bit better
So inspirational!
Your editing has been AMAZING recently. You are so talented and awesome! 👍💕
