- This is the down and dirty, easy pitcher pump rebuild. You can find new pumps at places like Lowes, Home Depot etc BUT if you keep an eye out older pumps show up everywhere and are usually pretty cheap. This video will show you how to make and old one work like new again. New seal/gasket kits are available through many of the store mentioned. Most don't carry instock so Amazon is probably an equal choice. Here is the link to Omnivore's Homestead and Quivers video to show you exactly how they, and I, ran this system so in the event of blackouts, storms or other power outages, water can still be had. • How To Install An Off-...
****this will only work with a well, If you have city supplied water, this ain't it.
I have a pump from a yard sale just like this that I bought to use. Now i can service it myself, thanks to your video. Thank you!
Thank you saved my butt from having to get some guy that wanted crazy money ...❤
Glad it helped!
Thank You! Got my pump to work again without buying a new one. Now just need a longer handle to make it easier to pump. Any hacks for that?
The do make longer ones that will work of you can find on an old pump. Because it's cast not sure a welder could extend the handle BUT slipping a pipe over existing handle might give you what you are looking for. (Backyard mechanic trick for extending any tool LOL)
Hello Kevin 👋 first time here in your channel. Just got one that I found on Craigslist is heavy as creep 😅 the person who had it was using it as a decoration smh so anyway I need to get the parts for the inside. Any recommendations? Thanks. I have the same idea as you in case of the unexpected. We keep drinking 👍
SO SORRY this reply took so long. (Due to some issues, I've been on sabbatical most of 2023 BUT big YT plans for 2024)
Check recycling centers, resale shops, yard sales, barn sales, farm auctions, estate sales etc. There are online store that sell rebuild parts to entirely rebuild pitcher pumps but if you need many parts you are almost better off to purchase a new one and turn one you came across back into a decoration LOL GOOD LUCK!
Watching you do plumbing gives me anxiety
LOL I have that coming
Kevin where can I find a base for my hand pump?
Best idea is to check scrap yards that accept random metal. SOMETIMES you can find damaged ones. Depending on where you are located this is yard sale season. Even if someone made an old one into "decor" it can still be scavenged for parts. Worse case, they are relatively affordable (ex Home Depot has them for like $60 complete, ready to rock. )
@@justkeven5539 thank you. I want use mine in my home . I also would like to have one to attach to my current well
Definitely do it. For 8 days following hurricane Ian we had zero power. Having the ability to produce water was amazing. Despite intense damage we were not only able to have hot coffee every morning but also flush toilets, was dishes and other basic hygiene needs not to mention help others in our community have the same.
