Really the best instructional videos I have seen. Bonus part with "cones" same concept used for riding a motorcycle, look where you want to go... Thank you
thank you Katie, I just got my skates and I've always had trouble even learning how to stand, I truly do binge your videos to help me learn, you're an amazing teacher and I really appreciate you!
I bought a pair of skates last year just before winter so I’m really looking forward to getting outside this summer! Your videos are some of the most helpful I think I’ve come across! Thank you for these! I can’t wait to put them to use 😁
I'm having such a hard time doing crossovers. I don't really know what's keeping me from learning the skill other then falling. I know falling is inevitable.
7:34 someone behind the glass made me think of whack-a-mole 😆 Anyway, I've been wondering about one of the plates you have. Why should one choose a plate without a hole for anything at all instead of using jam plugs?
I think the plate without an option for a toe stop is definitely an additional pair. I have them for figures but some skaters who only skate rhythm or jam choose them too as they know they won’t use toe stops for their chosen type of skating. They’re definitely for a more experienced skater who has chosen their personal style
How do I prevent breaking my ankle while skating? Cause I just snapped my ankle like a twig a few weeks ago, but I wanna try skating again when I heal.
trust my advice as i am a competing roller skater but when skating a lot of your balance is from you torso as well as your arm. For your torso you want it to be string and straight to stop you from leaning to one side. For me personally swinging your arms dose not help to keep your balance you need to use them to benefit by keeping one arm in front of you and the streched out beside you. Hope this helps .
i love rollerskating, but unfortunately i dont know where to start with tricks. skating really helps with my mental health, but unfortunately my mental health gets in the way of my skating, and im way too afraid to try any tricks. hoping that i get the hang of some new stuff soon though
These are a Risport dance boot on a roll-line dance plate. I always wear Risport boots I find them so comfortable. They’re good for narrow feet. My plates tend to differ as I have some older kit but the modern equivalent is Roll-Line. This is high end kit and a big investment. A good beginner skate version would be the rookie artistic. You get a lot of great features in these for a reasonable price. amzn.to/3DHNVbh
It sounds like you’re doing well. Always remember to not compare yourself to others, skate for you at your own pace and for your own enjoyment. Don’t forget all your safety gear, if you do take a tumble it’s much less painful that way. Most importantly have lots of fun. I believe in you 👍🛼💕
Im trying to figure out of my skates are too big. How are they supposed to fit exactly? I tool the insoles out and there is about an in oh space between my toe and the front of the boot is that normal? I also feel like theres a little room behind the heel. Thanks for your help!
That does sounds a little big. My foot print on my inner sole is almost to the tip. Lacing the boot tight around the mid foot can help to lock the heel in but they do sound quite large.
Here in the philipines i dont think P6,240 is enough for a wheel changing skate and with aluminum and adjustable toe stop i think its about 8000+ but thankyou for this vid katie🥰🥰😘💕
Hi Katie, I live in UK but I have inline skates. I really want to learn to dance in mine. Do most of the principles you teach for quads also apply to inline skates? I am a complete beginner.
At lot of it crosses over quite well. The edges are different as on inlines it’s more about the lean of the body and for spins rather edges you’ll use the rocker of the inline frame.
These are Risport dance boot on a roll-line plate. They are a custom setup. If you’re looking for something similar in a beginner skate you could look at the rookie artistics. amzn.to/38tE3WZ
Have you got any local skate shops? They’d probably be a good place to start as trying them on would be a good idea to make sure you get the correct width and size etc. have you measured your foot to get an idea of size?
@@Skatie none that carry Risport in my area, Northwest Alabama. I've found a few online sites. Maybe Indiana about the closest to actually having a warehouse?
In your next video could you tell me what size I should get if I have like weird feet size I may size 8 but sometimes I can get a size 9 could you tell me about that in the next video please love your videos
Hi. For skate sizing the best way to get the right size is to draw around your foot onto a piece of paper and measure the longest point. Then check the website of the brand you want to buy they’ll have a size chart. Match that foot measurement to the skate size. Skate sizes don’t always correlate to shoe size. Hope this helps you x
I’m afraid I’ve not tried them but I hear a lot of skaters say they like them. Also the airwaves get a lot of compliments too. I’ve linked to both of those wheels in the wheels video uploaded this week.
@@Skatie are the airwaves good too. And where do you get them. You can give me the website for the wheels. You also give a lot of details on wheels and how they grip.
@Skatie i will say im 74 but am going to do this would thst change the skatr someone said rio signature and need the wheels to be ok for rink and outside without having to change them each time im so confused there are so many out there
Make sure your weight is on the inside of your skate (big toe) if the weight is on the outside (little toe) you will do a plow stop rather than a bubble. Hope this helps you. I do have a video just on bubbles too which may help. Happy rolling
I used to skate at a rink pretty often as a kid/teen with my family. Then i stopped for many years.i started taking my kids now taht they are old enough. It did come back to me sort of after a while but it is not just like riding a bike lol. So at 37 ive bought some skates to try to practice at home too. I find that if im listening to music and not thinking about it i skate pretty well but as soon as i start thinkong about it i cant skate anymore. 🤦♀️ But i dont know how to improve skills if i dont know what my weigjt and balance is doing in the first place. 😮💨
Im pretty sure the reason im struggling to skate is because of my pronation/collapsed arch on my feet. I get pains around the ankle and heel everytime im in the skates for more than 30 minutes and i feel scared to push myself because i might trip over a rock or twist my ankle (also im like 5'11"). I've been skating for over a year now and i can barely go up and down (i got that choppy movement currently) but i would love to street skate and even learn some jam skating at the local london meetups
It could be an inner sole would help to support your foot better? Have you got a skate shop near you that could fit you or offer some advice? If the skate isn’t fitting and supporting you properly it can really hinder your progress. Do you have the correct size skate? A skate should fit tighter. More like a sock than a shoe.

I think I've been doing the posture wrong. (I've been leaning forward to much) which might be why my back starts hurting after a while.
Oh yes. That could definitely make your back ache. Think of bending your knees and keep your back straight instead.
