one thing i disagree with is the possibility of a mass US default. no doubt things were different 2009, but nowadays, the government has shown no hesitancy to print copious amounts of money and raise the debt ceiling. my money would be on hyperinflation or another large-scale conflict to create shock and instigate more monetary imperialism.

You’re in the middle of the default now. It’s a soft default. Where the debt is being inflated away. He nailed the timeline 10-15 years.

@@michaelmckivergan5138 well one way or another, deficits inevitably lead to inflation. this isn't a default like hoppe predicted. the modern-day application of MMT in government is real here.

@@michaelmckivergan5138 wait actually reading my comment again, check out how the US started involving itself with the russia-ukraine conflict and the economic manipulations. seems i wasn't far off with the conflict+monetary imperialism combo, but i guess it was a pretty safe prediction to make. fed hiking interest rates and highest inflation in... a while...

@@William_Asston I don’t think you can have a hyperinflationary collapse with the reserve currency while such a large % of the world uses it to settle international trade. As prices of commodities rise, the demand for dollars to facilitate the trade rises as well. The international trade and reserves component act as a sponge. As a central planner, you can always allow for destruction of the base money in targeted areas to create deflation as well. I suspect we’re seeing targeted base money destruction in the euro dollar market with the two dollar markets being on different rate systems (libor and sofr)

@@michaelmckivergan5138 yeah i never understood why eur/usd was plummeting. everything i heard would tell me usd would be inflating relative to euros but eh. what do the different interest rate systems have to do with burning dollars?

Concordo 99% com Hans-Hermann Hoppe! Só não concordo com o aborto! Pois se for permitido não há mais garantia da propriedade privado, pois a vida é a própria liberdade!
