Some of the ports I visited on my submarine in England, Gibraltar, Spain, France, and Italy. My brother recently came back from a holiday from England to Spain via the tunnel. He is trying to convince me to do the cruise ship thing also. Now I am discovering my country on my Road Glide (SilverBACK). This video brought me to tears. I have much more to see on my motorcycle in Europe. Thank you kindly for sharing. I would be most interested in you taking all of your “B” roll (Real Time) to hear the sounds, and separating by country. Those turned in the alps…priceless! Maybe I will recognize some places because most of my time in Europe was in port cities. I have a painting similar to the land and houses at T26:35 but the rooftops are reddish pink. I started riding in October 2021 and thought I would have to take this journey into the motorcycle culture alone. However, after 30 days and 2500 miles on the road returning from my trip to Harley’s 120th my wife agreed to ride with me too a flea market on the Fat Boy (Killmonger). The next week she had her own helmet, jacket, gloves and jeans. My tears are real brother. 2FD (two fingers down) my brother and sister. Wow you must have seen so much !! Such a fascinating life , it must be incredible. We love Spain Italy and France , so much to see , no matter how many times you go back always new places to find . On a motorcycle I think you more likely to end up in odd random places . We love a place not far from Gibraltar called ‘Ronda’ it has the best mountain road on the way there and the city itself is like 800 year old buildings Miguel de Cervantes stopped in a bar there and wrote a chapter of Don Quixote there in 1600s The bar is still there .. but yeah I’ve sidetracked .. Spain is full of so many magical places .. I’m stoked to hear your wife now on the back of the bike now … journeys are good alone and I still love a solo trip But discovering new places together is so cool , .. you have a couple of awesome motorcycles there dude . Enjoy every mile , you have such a great country for hitting the road . I’d love to see so much more of America . I’ve done New York couple times , once with my wife and daughters another time with my band .. doing some shows . I’ve done California and some of Florida, but man you’d need years to see America . Our kids are grown now , so we have a little freedom Back .. and plan on putting down a lot of miles . Great to hear from you mate , Ride safe .. and hope 2024 brings so many good times your way .
That was the most enjoyable, someone else's family holiday flick I have ever see. Great choice of soundtrack, fantastic video. I'm 67, I ride a BMW K1300S and have been doing so for the last ten years, all over Australia. Personally, the bike you were riding looks very attractive to me. Very relaxed.
BMWK 1300s what a beautiful beast of a machine ! Although I’ve never ridden one , my heart got firmly stuck on Harley’s in my 20s . Although this one is our first Touring model . When our kids were younger Lisa was stuck at home so I had chopper and comfort was not a thing . But now we 2 up this really is perfect for us . Thanks for the kind words from way down under , great to hear from you , we wishing you many safe happy travels in your beautiful country ! All the best
Great stuff. Took me back 35yrs from when I rode to Italy . Live in Australia now, so fantastic to see your tour from here. One of the best bike tour videos I've seen. Cheers 🍻
Close to 1am here , I just got in from playing a gig in London with my band … So stoked to come home and read such positive comments like your one . Many thanks mate . I bet Italy was amazing back then … probably lot less traffic . Cheers for taking time to comment , sending our best wishes to you on the other side of the world !
Hi Mark & Lisa, my wife and I really enjoyed watching this travel video when you visited Italy and other countries. During this time of year in Washington, U S.A., we have a lot of dark, cold weather, and occasionally snow and ice. It was uplifting to see the sunshine, the beautiful scenery and coastal water views from the roads you traveled. We also were delighted seeing the different buildings, houses, and communities you passed through. We felt as if we were there experiencing it with you. Take care. 🙂👍
Hello again , good to hear from you . We too in the cold , but lovely blue winter skies at moment , but too cold for the roads to dry out . I feel your pain ! When I was editing this I had a similar feeling . So glad you enjoyed it. We really appreciate this comment .. best wishes from the U.K

Hi Lean into the Wind, a great edit and a fantastic record of your '23 trip. Felt like being taken into the Never Never Land of motorcycle touring. Isn't motorcycling fantastic. “Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.” Jack Kerouac
Many thanks for watching, more so for leaving such a great comment . Fell in love with Motorcycles watching the great escape at 5 years old . Kneeling on the floor 3 inches from the screen as McQueen jumped that Triumph . I knew I’d buy one when I was 16! Yes motorcycling is fantastic . And around that year I first read ‘On The Road’ … and looked at life with new eyes .

So glad to see you travel through Amalfi Coast. My wife and I were in Venice and the Amalfi Coast back in October. She enjoyed our time in Italy as did I. We are planning on going back soon to possibly stay in Rome, Florence and then travel on down to Positano. We may have to visit Amalfi for a day as well again. A beautiful place to ride the motorcycle around the coast line on the winding and twisty cliff roads… ❤

Roll on better weather, been updating all our camping gear (costing me a fortune 😂 ! ) and can't wait to try it all out ! Also changing the air cleaner and venting to a catch can, already vented the top case cover 😉. Keep them vids coming 👍
Yeah definitely needs to warm up a bit , but saying that I going camping in couple weeks can’t wait any longer . Good luck with the new gear !! What air cleaner you going for ?
@@LeanIntoTheWind Good luck with the weather in February ! We only went for three season sleeping bags so will wait a little longer. Changing from a Screaming Eagle heavy breather elite ( found it got in the way of my knee ) to an S&S Cycle stealth air stream. It's more traditional a bit like a modern take on a tear drop and dosen't need a rain sock + I should be able to hide the external breather pipes behind the cover.

Hello, I am thrilled by your channel, which I just discovered. Your videos are very entertaining and informative. The Road King is a great motorcycle, which was also on my wish list. But after a serious illness in 2021, I told myself: Now or never! And I treated myself to the Ultra Limited. 😁🙃
Stoked you found us , thanks for kind words . Hope you back fighting fit now ! Wow The Ultra Limited !!!! You didn’t hold back huh … good for you . What a wonderful machine .. hope you make many happy memories on it . Kindest regards Mark & Lisa
@@LeanIntoTheWind Thank you, I am feeling well health-wise. Yes, I am very happy with my motorcycle. Since August 2022, I have driven 16,000 kilometers. I have been to Croatia and Turkey with it and had a lot of fun.
Nice! Got a question for you. When traffic is backed up I notice in this (and other peoples’ videos) its perfectly fine for a motorcycle to proceed either on the shoulder or in between the stopped vehicles on the lane markers. We call it lane splitting when you do this and here its illegal. As a matter of fact other drivers get quite ticked off when bikers do this. Would you say lane splitting is acceptable in more places than not?
The shoulder is not allowed, splitting through the middle is totally legal and 99% of motorcyclists do so ! Even when traffic moving fairly fast … Some motorists really get angry even though it is legal , some will even close the gap and make it awkward for you . But this is pretty rare . The only place I came across many people getting angry at me for lane splitting was Switzerland… I did lane split but everyone seemed annoyed, I never did check if it was illegal or not there .. but to answer yes most of Europe 100% accepted and when you do your test they tell you to lane split, it’s part of the test , or at least it was when I done my test in the 90s . Kind regards Mark
Many thanks !! Aosta was one of the favourite places we went . Promising ourselves to go back and really explore that area . What a great place to be from !
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. Besides that nasty trash on the side of the road there. Looks like they drive in the right side of the road like we do here in the United States. That's good. Thought all of Europe drove on the left side of the road. Huh, who woulda knew.
Yeah only very few places in Europe drive on left , U.K , Ireland , Cyprus , The Channel Islands , Isle of Man & Malta . But I’ve driven in Europe since I was 19 so you just get used to switching. I don’t find it even a thing after 5 minutes it just feels normal . It’s just a lot easier in America because you had the sense to make huge roads … every time I’ve driven in America I cannot believe how wide the roads are . Cheers for watching dude !
Absolutely timeless film making! You should be proud of your achievements. Some of those italian roads look decidedly like english? i.e. poor! How did the intercoms thing go? We really like ours as a 2 up. Passes some of the bordum on longer trips.❤
@@onereallynicespeed thanks so much , appreciate that . We bought the intercom during the trip , they lasted two days then went back in box and have never come out again . With my open face , Lisa just got wind from my microphone, and I had to shout anyway . We just returned to shouting haha .. and save our talking for meal times … The roads in Italy better than uk by a long way … in Sicily they far worse than uk .. potholes that look like Graves haha you go in … you need a ladder to get out . Makes it fun though
@LeanIntoTheWind I use my com on an open face and It does get wishy washy with speed. We are hoping to do Italy next year for my wife's 50th. Tuscany area. 2 weeks going to be enough?

Excellent video. Italy has got to one of Europe's finest riding destinations. Took me back.... By the way, the soundtrack is awesome. Where did you get these tracks from?
Many thanks . I I agree .. such a variety of roads ! Soundtrack from ‘Epidemic sound.com ‘ They have a Spotify. But when making stuff for TH-cam , you pay to join then can use any music they got to use on videos . To save paying each artist royalties. They pay . But yeah on Spotify you can just check out all the songs at your leisure.
There is nothing like travelling around Europe on a big Harley , I took my 13 year old daughter from Bilbao to Jaca and then Roses in the south of Spain , then up to Marseille and through the South of France into Italy , we stayed in Pisa , Rome , Venice and Milan , then rode to Interlaken in Switzerland for 3 days , before returning to France for a couple of days and home again , about 18 days altogether on an Ultra Ltd , I have a RKS on a 22 plate like yours now and would love to go back especially Italy , we went in 2019 , great video wish I had done one , stay safe out there and enjoy the bike .

We were both really happy with it .. no complaints whatsoever… it’s not something i would change … we have done plenty 12, 14 even 15 hour days on that bike and neither of us had aches , we was just tired . Cheers for watching bud
Great video - I have the same bike and love it. Can I ask if they are stock bars? They look more turned in and pulled back but it could be the camera angle. It’s the only thing on my bike I want to change
Thanks so much for watching and you are right, mark did change the bars as they were not comfortable!! I’ll get him to fill you in on the technical stuff 😂
Thanks for watching! You have a sharp eye .. I swapped the bars straight away , hated the others . These are Road Glide OEM Bars .. they 32 wide rather than 40 rks .. and loads more pullback not positive but it’s something like at least 5 inch more pullback that RKS . Best swap and no need to change any cables … it doesn’t drastically change the look either . But is a much more relaxed riding position. And you feel more in control as get the bend in arms .. so kinda not so flung out , like on stock I felt like I was in a hang glider haha . Best wishes mate
@@LeanIntoTheWind that’s great, thanks for the reply. I get the same feeling from the stock bars! Are yours from a standard Road Glide or a Road Glide Special? I like the look on yours as a lot of solutions look too extreme!
@@sagalout I think best check the dealers , but I’m pretty certain Road glide and Road glide special have same bars . Obviously the Road glide special will always be in black . I actually got mine on eBay and they were chrome but I had them stripped and powder coated . I paid around £60 and powder coating was £40 So it was a good buy . There are always some on eBay But I’ve noticed the prices are creeping up on used ones , I think more folks finding out how good a fix they are for RKS . But you can go in a dealers and sit on a RG to see what bars feel like As exactly same bike . Not many bars you can try before buy .
... I strongly advise to keep riding your FLHRXS as is... do NOT listen to anyone trying to convince you about going for useless modifications - it is running so well as it is.... the rest is costly and remains qustionable in terms of reliability... go for new suspension instead - I can recommend WILBERS
Do not fear , Nothing I’m planning to change at all .. it’s got all the power we need . Stops great .. handles well . Only think on the horizon is maybe raise the bars couple more inches.. and make a full length sissy bar back pad for Lisa before the Scotland trip .
I have never had one , or even tried one .. so the simple answer is no . It’s all I’ve know . Having the backrest takes all the fatigue out of wind … Before I had this bike and when solo I always travelled with sleeping bag behind me which did the same thing , I think as long as you have support behind you , it’s not tiring at all .
I think it is very irresponsible to ride a motorbike without glasses. What if a bug, a fly or a bee gets in your eye? You are putting your girlfriend in a very dangerous situation! You are also responsible for her safety. In any case, you're a big jerk for not wearing glasses!
Hi guys, I've been watching your videos for a little while now & this one has inspired me to take a similar trip this summer. Having never been on a multi country tour before, i would appreciate being able to ask a few questions, if thats okay? Would it be okay, to message you on Instagram? Thanks.

We love a place not far from Gibraltar called ‘Ronda’ it has the best mountain road on the way there and the city itself is like 800 year old buildings Miguel de Cervantes stopped in a bar there and wrote a chapter of
Don Quixote there in 1600s
The bar is still there .. but yeah I’ve sidetracked .. Spain is full of so many magical places ..
I’m stoked to hear your wife now on the back of the bike now … journeys are good alone and I still love a solo trip
But discovering new places together is so cool , .. you have a couple of awesome motorcycles there dude . Enjoy every mile , you have such a great country for hitting the road . I’d love to see so much more of America . I’ve done New York couple times , once with my wife and daughters another time with my band .. doing some shows . I’ve done California and some of Florida, but man you’d need years to see America . Our kids are grown now , so we have a little freedom
Back .. and plan on putting down a lot of miles .
Great to hear from you mate ,
Ride safe .. and hope 2024 brings so many good times your way .
Brilliant vlog , no drama just good road trip many thanks for sharing, Sicily needs a bit of a clean up though.
Not a problem, keep on enjoying@@LeanIntoTheWind
Great stuff. Took me back 35yrs from when I rode to Italy . Live in Australia now, so fantastic to see your tour from here. One of the best bike tour videos I've seen. Cheers 🍻
Close to 1am here , I just got in from playing a gig in London with my band …
So stoked to come home and read such positive comments like your one .
Hello guys, just watched london to sicily videos .... brilliant really enjoyed them, your chiiled out style is top drawer! in process of bying a new triumph bobber for this reason, exploring countries and chilling..cheers all the best keep it real 🌍
Huge thanks for watching & taking time to leave a comment . Really appreciated. Great looking bike that Triumph bobber .. and wishing you some epic adventures on that .
Kindest regards .. will look forward to see that machine in action on your channel .
Thanks dude .
Glad you stumbled onto the channel. Appreciate the kind words . ❤

Hi Lean into the Wind, a great edit and a fantastic record of your '23 trip. Felt like being taken into the Never Never Land of motorcycle touring. Isn't motorcycling fantastic.

And around that year I first read

Happy trails for '24, cheers man.@@LeanIntoTheWind

Okay now makes so much sense & Jesus bet that was an epic trip !
Happy travels mate , thanks for comment .
Many thanks for writing . Ahh we so wanted to do Venice .. but you can’t do it alll eh .. at least on one trip . But I think like you , I could not go through Italy again without hitting Amalfi .
Best wishes on your next trip .. safe & happy travels.
Thanks for the Video 👍🏻👌 so awesome.
But
the garbage problem there is a disastrous one
Cheers for watching! Yeah the rubbish outside some town is bad .. but so much of Sicily is beautiful , it’s still just a fantastic place to go . We shall definitely go back .
Watched it twice..Brilliant road trip. Great video

@@davidgilding3549 Thanks David , next week I think it’s getting a little warmer . Ah yeah I’ve had a big air cleaner on my old chopper once and it was a knee banger . It didn’t last long .
Best wishes dude
That’s the thing about us Harley riders, we only go to the coffee shop on a sunny day 😂😏
Just started watching and I’m already itching to get back into a warm breeze! I’ll settle for above freezing and rain that isn’t horizontal !

@@LeanIntoTheWind Thank you, I am feeling well health-wise. Yes, I am very happy with my motorcycle. Since August 2022, I have driven 16,000 kilometers. I have been to Croatia and Turkey with it and had a lot of fun.

What a wonderful video. The 60/70's style clips gave me a huge nostalgia trip. I look forward to more in 2024..
Many thanks for taking time to leave a comment … really kind of you !
32:45 clouds OMG
Even when traffic moving fairly fast …
Some motorists really get angry even though it is legal , some will even close the gap and make it awkward for you .
Kind regards
Mark
Awesome video…. BTW, my father-in-law’s family is from, and still live in Aosta, Italy! Small world!
Many thanks !! Aosta was one of the favourite places we went . Promising ourselves to go back and really explore that area . What a great place to be from !
❤❤

What a beautiful comment .
Best wishes to you
Beautiful video.
We just returned to shouting haha .. and save our talking for meal times …
The roads in Italy better than uk by a long way … in Sicily they far worse than uk .. potholes that look like Graves haha you go in … you need a ladder to get out .
Makes it fun though
@LeanIntoTheWind I use my com on an open face and It does get wishy washy with speed.
We are hoping to do Italy next year for my wife's 50th.
Tuscany area.
2 weeks going to be enough?
@@onereallynicespeed Oh man you had a better than I did . Ah great you going to Italy . I’d say two weeks for Tuscany be perfect . That ain’t too far down . It’ll be a great time . Wish you happy safe travels when you go . Have fun .

That sounds like you had a great trip with your daughter , what a magical thing to do together! I’ love riding in Spain , Roses is great place ,..i stopped there when I rode to Barcelona from London on my old chopper .. then did south France back to Switzerland.. cheers for watchng !
Safe travels bud !
I had a 96" S&S Evo chop back in 2000 that was in BSH and did a lot of Europe with the NCC , I then joined an MC 1%er club and did Spain , Germany amongst many others great times , and 2019 was an experience my daughter will never forget , take care pal . @toTheWind
Really enjoyed this! Great scenery, love the music while I’m dreaming of owning a Road King😂 also really like the open face helmet if I could ask what it is?🙏🔥
Very nearly major drama with that tanker about to BLOW 5:39
Yeah my heart did actually pause for 10 seconds right there !
Was stock suspension good enough for all that 2-up riding or did you have to upgrade the suspension?
We were both really happy with it .. no complaints whatsoever… it’s not something i would change … we have done plenty 12, 14 even 15 hour days on that bike and neither of us had aches , we was just tired . Cheers for watching bud
@@LeanIntoTheWind and you even do 15 hour days without a windshield? Savage!
@@RunCMDmoto Er .. we never go over 20mph haha
How many batteries do you need on hand for this footage?
We only had 3 and one GoPro . But I had a power bank so managed to charge them .
I paid around £60 and powder coating was £40
So it was a good buy .
There are always some on eBay
But I’ve noticed the prices are creeping up on used ones , I think more folks finding out how good a fix they are for RKS .
But you can go in a dealers and sit on a RG to see what bars feel like
As exactly same bike .
Only think on the horizon is maybe raise the bars couple more inches.. and make a full length sissy bar back pad for Lisa before the Scotland trip .
yeah... cool... keep riding bro !
In my opinion the best upgrade is via the operator 😂
hand tattoo = riding without gloves no matter the weather :)
Did you miss a windscreen on those faster roads?
I have never had one , or even tried one .. so the simple answer is no . It’s all I’ve know . Having the backrest takes all the fatigue out of wind …
Before I had this bike and when solo I always travelled with sleeping bag behind me which did the same thing , I think as long as you have support behind you , it’s not tiring at all .
Nice trip to see..😃👋🇨🇭 not realy exiting..😢
Thanks for watching 😊
I think it is very irresponsible to ride a motorbike without glasses. What if a bug, a fly or a bee gets in your eye? You are putting your girlfriend in a very dangerous situation! You are also responsible for her safety. In any case, you're a big jerk for not wearing glasses!
