Unfortunately, it has also its own downsides: ● Cannot block dagger, cleaver and small hammer's swipe or thrust attack when its in their close proximity range, especially when they parried your attack (yes, they can parry long-ranged weapons with short weapons, if they can anticipate your next attack) ● Only it is deadly if it's in specific range distance, won't deal that much damage (I can't tell if the mid-handle/stick could deal damage upon impact, but certainly it won't) if the opponent is in extreme close proximity with you (especially when they're using short weapons), clever enemies could take this advantage though ● Opponents that mastered their shields, or have a dual weapon mastery and "blocking vital parts" skill, they're not gonna let make things easy for you ● Only works in wide area, would be hard to hit opponents if they're clever enough to use their environment to defend themselves, especially when luring you to tight spaces or in simply, corners ● You'll have to keep distance every time the opponent got closer to you in order to get them in your attack range, especially against those opponents with their Movement perk mastered ● You can use the long range weapon to tackle them (like some guy who shared that trick), but not against large/heavy opponents, so you'll have to stick with attacking on their vital parts instead *Personal Note:* ● It was indeed a fearsome weapon, but that impression only lasted after I discovered its downsides during my progress with fighting Golem Guards ● I often use small hammer when the enemies have a long-ranged weapon, and spam the thrusting attack (it was indeed op, perhaps it was already nerfed from new updates) and use their long range downsides as an advantage ● Be wary of clever AI opponents, some of them might be dumb-looking and easy, but you'll encounter them during your progress ● It's a good weapon against fending away monsters in sewer stage, but would be extremely hard when they got close to you (since they attack in very close range) and especially when you got outnumbered
Hello! I agree with all your points. It's a nasty weapon as long as its game works. Long distance and open field certainly help. In close range it gets vulnerable, but that's the downside of pretty much all pole-mounted weapons, both in game and reality. In the real middle-ages, when the long distance was cut short, two knights would abandon their long blunt weapons to grapple in hand-to-hand fight and end the story with daggers. For the story quest of Exanima I never use polearms because of the points you listed, losing red health is such a curse. Instead, I stick to my precious kite shield and sword or mace depending on who I have to fight. Having to use a big shield with shield skills against faels or golems keeps you alive, no matter what diableries they throw at you! :)
Nice outfit
