This video is literally the most special, genuine, and relatable videos I’ve ever seen from a beauty influencer...I feel so connected to u on a much more personal level and it’s just really cool...I’d give anything to have videos of my parents and grandparents like that....so beautiful...,thank u for letting us into ur world in such a personal way....💕💕

I think is quite interesting that your grandpa was waiting for you in a beauty salon. Think 'bout it, isn't it a odd place? But looking at your present seems like your grandpa was kinda leading you towards your future passion and carrear. Amaizing and incredible and lovely

This is exactly why I love what you put out. You are so genuine. This is one of the most powerful videos put up, especially from a beauty influencer. I confront death on a daily basis with the work that I do and whenever I come home I hold my family tight and tell them just how much I love them. Putting the phone or computer away to really and truly be present in the moment. Thank you so much for sharing.

So here's the thing Kathleen, I don't know if you've ever noticed me saying this (considering I've commented this so many times on your channel lol) but you are honestly my favourite influencer EVER and I'll tell you why...because you are insanely relatable for the following reasons:
    1. Something I came to find out recently about you, your obsession for the zodiac signs...I've always had that too! So personally I'm a Scorpio so you probably know that we aren't supposed to be the best of matches, but we are somehow constantly drawn to each other...thus probably why I'm obsessed with you! lol
    2. I suffer from major social anxiety as well...so when I watch you, I never feel like I'm alone and you don't understand how much that means to me
    3. I feel weird connections just like you as well...I have this deep connection with my late grandma too (who I was actually named after) but never met so I can totally understand what you mean!
    4. I'm an extremely private person too (major Scorpio trait right there lol) so I totally understand that side of you too...so watching this video made me appreciate you even more because I understand it's not easy to put yourself out there!
I could go on and on and on but I think I've typed enough here and I don't wanna bore you lol...just know that you are appreciated Kathleen, love you oh so very much! Never stop being the kind, genuine soul that you are!

I remember you saying in a previous video that you personally feel like you look like your dad even though a lot of people don't agree. Um, these videos of your dad as a child looks SO MUCH like you! Your love for family is so prevalent, and I'm thankful that you express that love often. It's a nice reminder to cherish our family because, as you said, life is so short.

  • @ellen2199
    @ellen2199 7 ปีที่แล้ว +165

Oh man, I really enjoyed this video!!! Similarly, my greatgrandpa passed away before I was born. My great-grandma raised me until I was 5 and she used to tell me all these stories about my great-grandpa. Shortly after my great-grandma passed away, I had a vivid dream of my great-grandpa pushing me on a swing for a good couple hours. When I told him I want to go back home, he looked very sad and that he has to return to the church (or smth like that) and that he cannot come with me. I didn't think too much of the dream after then. THEN, when I was 10, I was going through family pictures of my dad when he was really young and I saw my great-grandpa and I got goosebumps immediately because he was exactly what I have dreamed of. Mind you, I have never seen his pictures before this time. He was wearing the same grey top hat as well. I think he wanted to show himself to me when my great-grandma passed away and I was missing her so much. I am a scientist, but it's incredible how so many things cannot be proven or explained. :) thank you so much for sharing your family videos

The videos at the end are so touching. Thank you for sharing a piece of you!
I can relate to what you're talking about 100%. My grandma (my mom's momma) died four months before my birth. She was with my mom the entire time of her pregnancy and hoped to stay long enough to hold me. Sadly she passed away sooner than expected. Turns out I'm the spitting image of my grandma: her face, body shape, her walk, her personality... and I'm the only one in the family to take after her. I never met her, have very few pictures of her and only own a small video of a family celebration where she walks in a garden with one of my cousins. This connection you feel, I've felt it my entire life and I can't really explain it. It just feels good, as if I carry her in me somehow. She just couldn't leave me alone.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one feeling this way, and I know how emotional that can make you.

The real question here is why am I crying at Kathleen’s old footage of her family 😂 I’m a psycho.
I loved seeing the old footage! I always felt that special connection with my grandma too even though she died when I was 2 and I never really knew her, so I know exactly what you are talking about. ♥️

Her new collab is called Dream St (assumption from what she’s shared) she’s talking about how much this dream she has had means to her, and she also talked about the date, December 17 so if I’m not mistaken....which I totally could be obviously BUT maybe her collab will drop December 17 in memory of her grandfather who she never met but has had dreams of. Love it love it love it. I totally just started putting pieces together that could be totally wrong but I tried. Lol love it, love this, love u! These clips are awesome, love from Chicago!

What an amazing video!!! That footage was so incredibly touching, even tho I do not know anyone I was watching. What touched me the most was seeing kids outside playing! Not sitting inside on their phone or Xbox etc. Parents outside with their children playing!!! My God, the world was sooooo different back then! I was born in 1969 and this footage was exactly like my childhood!!! Life was so much simpler and slower and compassionate back then. Thank you so much for sharing such a special part of yourself with us.

My Uncle died from AIDS days before I was born in May of '92. He was my Mom's best friend and they spent every moment together. Even though he was a man, and I am a woman, my Mom says we're so similar in so many ways and have the same loving spirit, which I take as a compliment. I never got the chance to meet him but I've always felt this weird connection and bond with him. I literally cried a little when you said you felt a connection to your Grandpa even though you never met him because I have always had that same feeling with my Uncle and thought I was the only one! I guess there are just some bonds that are meant to be held, no matter what. Love you!

Your dads soul is infectious ! Loved this video so much! My parents seem to be about the same age as yours and they lost all their home videos, photographs, and year books in a flood decades ago. So I have only seen about one or two photos of them in their teenage years. Watching this made me imagine I was looking at my own family and got me quite emotional. I have the exact same thoughts about my father. My daughter was only 2 when he died. He loved her to pieces and thought she could do no wrong and she loved him, but she is now 6 years old and already doesn't remember him because she was so young when he died. It breaks my heart. I wish so badly that she could have him in her life because he made such an amazing impact on my life and he would've done the same for her. :(

Kenetrice Nichole I was 4 when my dad died and i although I don’t “remember” him I got to know him through photos and old clothes he wore. I was always too afraid to ask anyone in my family about him because I thought it would make them upset but when I finally did start asking questions I felt closer to him. Make sure your daughter knows that she can ask you anything. If you have anything left of his let her see it or have it, it honestly really really helps.

My husband's biological grandmother died when his dad was really little due to a bad blood transfusion after giving birth to his dad, I guess back than they didn't know exactly what was wrong with her blood but it was bad, anyways he always felt a connection with her because he was born 2 days after her birthday but was due on her birthday Dec 10th, I'm due with our first daughter Dec 24th but will be having her via c-section on the 19th and we are naming her Eva after his grandmother which supposedly means "gracious giver of life" 😊

Kathleen I don't know if you'll read this message or not, but I just turned 45 and you're so lucky to have those and trust me cherish them. I've lost my entire family by the time I was 19 parents grandparents everyone. And unfortunately I don't have any photos to cherish so you are so lucky and I see that you know that. You're pretty special person and although you look young you're very smart well-spoken and mature for your age. Happy holidays to you and Danny and all your little pups and your family.

I AM Literally CRYING. I feel like everyone thinks of different things when they see this footage. For me, it's that everyone deserves a chance at a better life. My parents were immigrants and they worked hard, and just seeing this footage of the three kids and everyone running around in the patchy snow and laughing and so excited, it makes my heart break a thousand times to think of families denied that kind of happiness and sense of appreciation and excitement. God bless THAT USA

You're so right. I lost my grandfather when I was 12ish and my grandmother about a year and a half ago. Now in my early 30s, I put together a slideshow of photos/video of her when she was young through to her later years for the services. I wanted us all to see that even though in her later years (she had dementia) she had lost much, if not all, of what made her who she was - a tiny, feisty, little Italian spitfire - that we should remember and celebrate the life she lived and who she was, rather than dwell on the sad later years when she just wasn't herself in any way. I had just 3 or 4 clips of just a couple seconds each that a family member dug up of them at their wedding and family events. Having those clips of them so young, laughing, and celebrating big and small things in life is something I cherish so much. It was and still is SO hard to watch but I am so happy to have those tiny snippets on record. As a photographer, I'm partial to photos but there's nothing like having those moving clips despite their lack of sound and horrible quality.

It's a big possibility that you feel this connection to him, without physically meeting him, because you knew each other before you were born. since he passed a year before you were born, your soul could have been with his soul until you were born.
I know it depends on your beliefs, but I'm a spiritual person and I truly believe that's a possibility.
I've also had dreams like that. My older brother passed away in the womb at 6 months, so I've never met him but always wanted to know who he would be when he was older. Then one night, when I was younger, I had a dream that I was at my cousin's house and they had a framed photo of him on a shelf. I knew it was him because he looked so much like my family but it wasn't anyone I knew. I've only had two dreams as vivid as that so I know it was real, like some kind of communication.
also, what I wouldn't give to have footage of my mom like that. :) to have video of the moments I have photos of, would be amazing.

Crystal Lins: that’s what I was thinking too!!! I do believe our souls know each other before we are born. I was carrying my oldest son when his great grandpa passed away. One of his first words was, “Papa”, as he pointed to the portrait that my hubby had tattooed of him.

My Mother's father died in a car crash when she was 11 years old. I've always felt a strong connection to him as well. I've only seen a handful of photos of him but I dream about him a lot too. Thank you for making this video. There's been a lot of times where I felt alone in the fact that I miss him, like my family does, but I don't have any memories of him. I can relate to this video a lot. I'm really glad you have these videos so you can see him. You're honesty and sincerity are what I love most about you.

My Great Grandma passed away last Thursday at an amazing age of 91. I've been crying ever since. Luckily, me and my siblings got to share many memories, as did my Dad and my Grandad. Everything seems so raw. She was such a trooper, so determined and brave. Unfortunately I'm dealing with chronic pain at the moment and can hardly leave my bed, therefore I won't be able to say goodbye to her one last time. It honestly breaks my heart. Until her last breath she was asking about me, despite her pain. She was so loving and caring. She is now back in the arms of my Great Grandad❤️
Cherish the loved ones surrounding you, give them your all and make amazing memories❤️❤️❤️
Ps. I'm a mess from writing this, it's natural to cry when your feelings are so pure.

I completely believe in being connected with spirits, even ones you’ve never met physically. My Mom passed away when I was 17 and my Dad passed away when I was 20. I have a baby cousin who is now 2, she would be my Mama’s niece, and we have no doubt that my mama has connected with her. When she was a baby she would randomly start laughing into space and smiling (she was an older baby, not at the young age where babies just smile when they’re sleepy or for no reason) and she looked JUST like my Mama. She came out looking like her and still to this day strongly favors her. It’s something I hope my future kids will have with my parents. It’s so special. I know how much these videos mean to you!! It’s priceless and the feeling is indescribable

So crazy how life plays out. I have always always looked to TH-cam videos to make me feel better about life when it gets me down... on Wed. Nov. 22nd (your anniversary) I lost my sister in law/one of my bestest friends. I’ve been so down and out I couldn’t even respond to a text let alone get on TH-cam to comfort me... & tonight, the night before we lay her to rest, I looked to some TH-cam videos to calm me down and you posted something so meaningful. Kathleen I understand you so deeply. I love old videos or photographs from my family, seeing my parents when they were kids or teens, before they were my parents it's such a blessing. It actually makes me really emotional and nostalgic. I'm a 90s kid and even though I'm only 28 I feel life was so much better and happier back then. There was this sense of hope and faith that the future had something great to offer and that eventually everything was going to be okay, that we have lost now a days. Thank you for sharing.

Kat, i feel the same way about my grandpa! When i was young i would go to my grandmas house and flip through photo albums, mostly ones that had pictures of me. One time i found an album of childhood photos from my grandpa, and it blew my moms and grandmas mind that i could point my grandpa out of all his siblings even though i had never seen him. I’ve always had dreams of my grandpa at different stages of his life, like a lanky brunette little boy when i was young, and later on him as a teenager, adult, older man, etc. when i turned 17 i got a tattoo of lyrics from the song “remember me” by Johnny Cash (his favorite artist) in memorial of my grandpa and my sisters thought i was crazy for it because i had never met him-he died 4 years before i was born. I’ve just always had a weird connection to him and i thought i was alone in feeling this way about a family member that I’ve never met. But, weirdly enough, it feels like he’s always with me, which is why i chose to get “through the sunshine and the shadows” tattooed on my arm (now after i have my baby i plan on my whole upper left arm being dedicated to my grandparents with tattoos that remind me of them).

YES!!!!!!! I've always felt connected to my father's mother. She passed away from breast cancer when my father was only 14, so I never got to meet her. I look almost identical to her, and my father said that I remind him of her sometimes with the way that I talk and carry myself. My thoughts exactly! I have very dysfunctional family. We usually don't get along, my family members always focus on things that aren't so important rather than spending quality time together. I don't know why and it makes me very sad. We don't have any traditions in my family, they don't even celebrate Christmas (well, they did when I was very little but not anymore - now we do it because of me, I love Christmas!). I live with my mum and grandmother, but I also know my uncle and my cousin, I have a half-sister (also half-brother but he is awful, not a part of my family anymore, so I often say that I only have a sister). If I'll have a family of my own someday, I'll make sure that is a nice one, though!

My grandma raised me, and I remember the perfume she use to wear, when she passed away her bottle of perfume was given to me, I will smell it all the time. My abuelo died when my dad was 15 years old so I never got to meet him. I only know a few stories about how he was as a man and father but that’s it. I feel crazy that I miss him so much and feel like a part of me is missing, especially for a man I’ve never known. They only had two pictures of him because he died in the 70s and they were poor. My tias and abuela always tell me that my dad is a splitting image and personality of my abuelo. It is the only thing that brings me some peace knowing I have my dad still.
