      Oh I love this - so is yours a loose wave like mine too? I am finally actually loving being wavy as u have so much flexibility about style - straight, wavy or curly we can kind of have it all 🙌🥰

      @@Tori_Hunter Yes but I'm really struggling to find a good routine. And I need a good cut as well. Do you have it bleached?

      Yes I have bleach highlights and my hair dresser uses olaplex with it to minimise damage 👍

      I’m so glad it was helpful. I think it’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all the techniques and products and methods…I’ve definitely felt that way before.
      Let me know how you get on with getting back to basics 😊👌

    My hair is so similar to yours. I love the mention of using different techniques/products to achieve diff results (wavy to curly) and I agree, I prefer the simplicity of waves. Have you tried other JVN products? I love air dry cream and oil. I like a lot of Curlsmith too and I find I need only a little bit.

    • @Tori_Hunter
      @Tori_Hunter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t tried any of the JVN shampoos or conditioners but funnily enough I didn’t get on too well with the air dry cream - any tips for a good result? I should give it another try I feel…really like the brand.
      I also love curlsmith - every product I’ve tried has been a winner! I use the bond salve after I have my colour done and it leaves my waves to soft 😍

    Thank you for your videos. They are super informative. How often do you use the bond repair and do you use it instead of shampooing? I have been on my wavy hair journey for a year and a half and still struggling to get a routine that suits my fine, high porosity hair and length at ear lobe.

    • @Tori_Hunter
      @Tori_Hunter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m so glad you find them helpful 🥰
      I use the bond salve as a pre-wash treatment when my hair is starting to feel a bit lack lustre or dry. It’s more of a instinct thing rather than having a set timescale.
      I would use K18 as a bond repair after I have my colour treatment (usually once every 3-4 months) I’ve got a video coming soon about that!
      Olaplex 3 I like to use as part of a clarifying wash routine or again when hair feels dry, dull or just in need of some TLC x

    I’ve read that porosity test is bogus. Did you find your high porosity hair sank?
    Love the video and all your tips thanks ❤

    • @Tori_Hunter
      @Tori_Hunter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are so many mixed messages online about a lot to do with wavy hair. Mine did sink but that’s why I also like to know the characteristics as I think this helps identify porosity. And of course you can even have some hair that is high porosity and some medium or low. But I’ve noticed huge improvements from using products that help high porosity hair.

    I think we have the same hair-same wave, same bleach highlights and same highs and lows! I tried doing curly girl methods with finger coiling, plopping, you know the drill etc- it took so much time, didn’t look great and it’s much faster to just blow dry it straight. My hair is very fine and porous and the underneath is much curlier than the uppermost, which I think is from damage. But it’s never uniformly wavy all around. How do you get the waves to look full and voluminous vs stringy and fine? Also do you wet it again in the morning when you wake up with not much wave left but it’s clean? Also do you get terrible tangling like I do from scrunching and pulsing? Then when I do wash it, I seem to lose hair from detangling the knots from scrunching and rewetting.

    • @Tori_Hunter
      @Tori_Hunter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes I still love to blow dry my hair for some bouncy volume but it’s just as time consuming for me as the wavy way 😆
      I find the best results I get is when I dunk my hair and scrunch and pulse - I think I show the method in my wavy hair routine method. I find brush styling to time consuming. I might brush through a curl cream and then scrunch but I don’t section and brush curl pieces. Too much effort!
      I feel my waves are less stringy due to being in much much better condition but also method (try the dunk thing) Maybe I should make a video just on how I do my curl clumps 🤔
      I don’t tend to refresh in the morning and by day 3 and 4 generally I’m wearing half or completely up.
      Def no tangling thanks to the slip of the products I use. Again I did use to get a lot of tangling at back of hair but not since I embraced wavy hair and used the right products for my hair type. Do u use a leave in conditioner?

    This is a great video for beginners! ☺️
    Not sure if you’re aware but coconut oil or coconut serum in your hair doesn’t allow moisture to penetrate the hair properly. Also that’s serum is packed full of silicones x

      Hey, thanks for your comment. I completely agree if you're following the Curly Girl Method or Wavy Girl Method then silicones are definitely a no-no. I'm don't follow those methods as I like to try out different things and find what works for me :) Generally I opt for water soluble silicone based products as I actually find these work really well for my high porosity hair. Do have fav products you like to use in your routine....always love a recommendation! :)

      I think it depends on your hair type and where you use it in the routine. Pre-wash treating with coconut oil (which is one of the only oils that can penetrate the hair strand and benefit deeply, which is why leaving it on for 30+ minutes, or even overnight, is worthwhile) can help keep your hair from being stripped of too much moisture during the shampoo process, and then there's little to none left on the hair by the time you're using conditioners etc.
      Personally, if I don't use coconut oil before I wash it doesn't matter what shampoo or conditioner I use, my (very high porosity!) hair is really dry. Even the best deep conditioners and masks in the world don't help much, and can even just weigh my hair down while still leaving it pretty dry. Using a heavy oil like coconut *after* washing can absolutely be too much (especially for wavy hair), and if you use it before a moisturising step I can see it being an issue in the way you describe. But a little light oil for the scrunching and sealing process once it's dry keeps moisture in the hair, and pre-wash coconut oil kind of does the same thing during shampooing and keeps the moisture from being stripped out. Again though, whether and how much it helps might depend on your hair type.

      I completely agree I think like with almost everything - makeup, skincare, hair care what works for one person may not be right for another. You have to work out what your hair needs and then find the right product :)
