      @ Divya Patil, capacitive sensors can detect plastic. The sensors AutomationDirect offers have an adjustment for multiple target types (plastic, liquid, etc.). AutomationDirect offers free technical support if you have technical questions about your application. You can contact them here: support.automationdirect.com/techcontact.html

    Greetings, I have a application where I need to know the presence of organic material through a metal tank (digester). This organic material have a regular temperature of 80 to 90°C due to steam application through the tank. Which option do you recommend for that? Thanks.

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cesar, We would need to know more about your application to give you a decent answer, but in a nutshell, If you can't look from above in an open tank then the only option is to put a PTFE mounting well into the side of the tank and thread a capacitive sensor in it. The well (MWT-01) can handle 246C temp.
      Otherwise, please contact our FREE tech support during regular business hours - they will be happy to help you find a solution.
      You can fill out an on-line form or call them at the number shown at the bottom of this page:

    can the Capacitive Sensor identify and differentiate between plastic and cardboard ?

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Abdalrhman Alaa - You may be able to setup the sensor to detect plastic and not cardboard or vice versa. All of our products have a 30-day money back guarantee, so you can return the sensor if it does not work for your application. You can also contact our award-winning, free tech support and they can discuss your application to better understand it and guide you to the best sensor. community.automationdirect.com/s/contactsupport

    Hi! Is it possible to differentiate plastic and paper using capacitive sensor? We need to identify if it is plastic or other kind of waste, to be able to put the waste to its proper trash bin.

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lindsay. these capacitive sensors would no be able to differentiate between plastic and and other waste. There are some specialized sensors that can accomplish this task, but we do not carry any in our product lines.

    i m seaching for a capacitive sensor which can detect glass and plastic. i want to use in microcontrollers

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vinay,
      You are going to have trouble sensing clear glass or plastic with a Capacitive sensor.
      Depending on the sensing distance, an ultrasonic sensor would be a good option. Go to AutomationDirect.com and search for ultrasonic sensors
      Also, if the plastic/glass is clear, look into one of our clear object detection photoelectrics like AutomationDirect part number OPT2139 or PSTL-xxx

    Does this sensor measure distance or is it just an on/off switch? I am looking to measure the piston motion in a sealed air valve.

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Khann, this sensor does give an On/Off signal. It does give the ability to set a window for the operation. Are you looking for an analog signal output?

    Hi there,
    I'm looking for more information about this capacitive sensor. Is this sensor can detect an empty PET bottle body? I want to make sure about this thing, because in this video at 1:40, it shows that the sensor can detect the plastic glass body.
    Thank you :)

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amandito, yes, capacitive sensors can detect through plastic and glass materials. Your application may require you to contact our technical support to insure you select the correct sensor. You can always order a sensor and try it out, AutomationDirect offers a thirty day money back policy on all products except Marathon motors and refurbished products. Thank you for watching our sensors video.

    Can capacitive sensor detect organic waste?

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dog Bread, Capacitive sensors can be adjusted to detect many solid and liquid targets. Organic waste shouldn't be an issue but it will depend on your application. You can find capacitive sensors we offer here: www.automationdirect.com/sensorscapacitive and you can contact our free tech support if you have questions with your application requirements: community.automationdirect.com/s/contactsupport

    Can capacitive proximity sensor detect lubricant oil in plastic pipe ?

    • @automationdirect
      @automationdirect  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, yes. How well and reliably it will detect it will be determined by several factors and can't be determined until you do a field test.
      Things to consider:
      1. Pipe wall thickness
      2. ID of Pipe
      3. Volume of oil in pipe
      4. Type of oil
      5. Temperature of oil
      6. Sensor size (surface Face)

      If you are referring to the middle part of the image a@2:47, that is a sensor well. It is designed to be through hole mounted to a liquid tank, and the sensor threads into the sensor well from outside the tank for level detection.

      Some sensors are manually adjusted where others have a "teach" function where the user can instruct the sensor the target to detect. Your application may require you to contact our technical support to insure you select the correct sensor.
