TABLE MOUNTAIN & LION'S HEAD HIKING GUIDE in Cape Town

- Olivia and Nathan here! Table Mountain hike and Lion's Head hike were definitely highlights of our things to do in Cape Town, South Africa! The views were INSANE and the VIBE of all the fellow hikers we met along the way was EPIC! Couldn't be more stoked about choosing Platteklip Gorge to upper cable station and to have chosen to take the table mountain aerial cableway on the way down. By no means would I classify these hikes as easy, they should be taken at your own pace and definitely with plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks! Early mornings and late afternoon are cooler to avoid the heat!

Wow, this mountain is killer, you both are pretty fit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you looking so exhausted…..
But, you killed it!
Next time you are down, try going up skeleton gorge, it’s steeper, but much shorter and mostly in the shade. More of a direct route to the top where you find a little dam that’s has beach sand at its entrance.
Solid recommendation, that hike sounds awesome!

Yeah, there are beaches with warmer water East of Cape Town, such as Gordons Bay, Strand, Koolbay, etc., etc., but I also enjoy swimming in the cold sea on a hot summers day. Its very refreshing and a great way to cool off. Julle figured out the technique of entering - go in and out a few times so your legs get used to it and stop aching, and then its all plain sailing!

Warmer waters near Durban with Indian Ocean. Cape Town water is very cold with Atlantic Ocean 😅
Strand is warm
The unique part about Cape Town is that we also have the Indian ocean.

With any 360 camera if you mount it correctly the stick doesn't appear.

I was in Cape Town in November 2023. We went on Table Mountain, twice. I've been to Camps Bay and swam in the ocean there like you guys. I did not go on Lion's Head. I think I'll have to return there to visit what I missed. BTW, the guy looks like our leader of the opposition here in Canada. Google it. His name is Pierre Poilievre. I believe he will be the future Prime Minister of Canada soon. Cheers!

You don’t need a guide but we’d recommend going with at least one other person. At the least, go during daylight hours.

Xhosa is not the only South African language that has clicks.They are other 3 languages that have clicks and are sister languages to Xhosa, they are Zulu, Ndebele and swati they are all nguni languages.

Great footage however your drone footage is illegal. You can get a fine up to R48 000 and or 6 months in jail for violating drone laws.
why do people play music in nature? If you want to listen to music why not use headphones? It boggles my mind. Have some respect for other people who don't want to listen to music!
