How do we even describe Lorde to future generations? She's just so...ahead of her time? Idek, there's no one else like her. Thank you for existing, Lorde. 💗💖💕
I could almost swear there's something underlying her music that induces a state of something like a dark, ecstatic trance. I feel so clear when I listen to her music, like I can see more, and it's not all good, but that's reality, and this music makes it beautiful. Either that, or it's really that late, and I am that tired. Oh and I hope you get more views for this video! Haha, then you will cry!
That sing underlying her music which induces a state of something like a dark, ecstatic trance is called heavy electro synth/bass plus that beautiful lorde-choir which is in all of her songs. Magnificent, indeed.
R3ika Thanks for that little insight. As a Scandinavian/ Nordic descendent I am a little ashamed about not knowing much about my them. My love for this show stemmed from interest in learning about them, so again, thank you.
It's about reality of what really going on around you all stuck in Satan mind control because you believe in a world that has been blowed up 50000 years ago now
+James Pawson can you please explain them to me in short? I am not from an english speaking nation, and would like to know what she's talking about according to you.
For those that haven't noticed, this album features no guest singers. This album, although only 10 tracks, is a showcase of true emotion, true singing and pure songwriting. Not some A&R telling her to shake her butt, to show cleavage or to act like a sexual object to get fans. She is singing. She is pouring her soul musically with the assist of no one. You have to respect that.
I'm a guy so it's twice as bad lol. Especially after "The cry goes out HAAAHHHHHH" I had my volume all the way up and all I could hear was my girlfriend laughing hysterically from the hallway.
I know me too. Ever since I heard it on TH-cam. Definitely reminds me of The Hunger Games. I love the part where she says, "You can try and take us, oh oh but victory's contagious..."
This is without a doubt my favorite song from Lorde that she has done so far, and to me, she is going to have a hard time with another classic that is anywhere near as breathtaking as this. I'm not sure just what she intended with this song, and it's probably a secret she's pressed to tell, but my personal interpretation is that this song is eerie, dark, unhinged, primal and anarchic to where you can taste it drifting through the summer night wind, you sense that something terrible, something violent, is about to unfold. It reminds me the most of people gathered together for a riot, almost a revolution, but with all plans, all caution thrown to a wind, there is no one left in this mob with values or morals, there is not a point to be found anymore in the why, no one with a trace of humanity left, all there is left, all that remains is destruction and the only weapon is a flame, fire burning everything to the ground and burning everything it touches, fire consuming and licking everything in its path, life reduced simply to ash, to "glory," or whatever glory can be found anymore in a now pointless, all consuming, "all knowing" violence, we will not stop, can't stop, there is no point, no morale anymore, burn everything, leave nothing behind and nothing will be left when we are done.
Also, South Park got Primus for their theme song. They don't play Wynona in concert, cuz it got too pop, and Primus is the anti-pop something you cannot stop. Seen them 4 times.
I don't fully understand how to react to this. I wanna say dope, but that's been thrown around as much as words like awesome, amazing, love, delicious. This young lady is just frikkin ridiculously talented. Right now, I'm really thankful for Lorde and TH-cam.
In 2013 I first heard Lorde on a local station 105.5fm Ft.Myers Florida, Nov, 2013. I love, love, love her voice!! I congradulate her on TWITTER. I was blown away when she actually responded to her question and I guessed correctly! I was and am honored to know such a wonderful, down-to-earth girl like her! WOW! I initially interpreted these lyrics as a tongue-in-cheek power play between men and women but now that I'm listening again (for the third time), I believe she's making a note on the ceaseless cycle of war in the world. Even if I'm totally off-the-mark, I think her songs are thought-provoking, empowering, and uplifting.
Glory & Gore is going to be released as a single & widely promoted on radio around 11th march-Also it was not actually written for the vikings tv series…I think it will go top 10 at least...
this song is proof that a song doesnt have to be about love or relationships to be good, this song is about out of all possible topics, its about the ancient roman gladiators! this song goes hard, and the second verse is my absolute favorite! so creative!
And the cry goes out They lose their minds for us And how it plays out Now we're in the ring And we're coming for blood You could try and take us (oh-oh) But we're the gladiators (Oh! Oh!) Kai Styles Yes very good I create messages that I conclude after investigating all the information at hand not just hanging off the words of someone because I think they're cool...
This song is basically The Hunger Games trilogy in three minutes. Just read the lyrics! Almost every line describes something that happened in The Hunger Games.... "Now we're in the ring and we're coming for blood"...
I am in the library with my head phones in and singing the song really low so people cant here me. people start staring at me like I was some kind of crazy person. I guess I wasn't singing it low. oooops
seriously i think this is my favorite song on the album... however (i know i am probably going to get beaten down for saying this) the lyric "i dont ever think about death... it's alright if you do, it's fine" for some reason reallllly seems almost silly to me, especially compared to how well written the rest of the lyrics are... if that lyric was taken out, and/or replaced with something better i think i would see this song as absolute perfection. no, i am not a musician or writer so i am *not* saying i can come up with a better one... but i know she can/could. just when i am really getting into it, feeling like i am listening to a little masterpiece of a song... that lyric comes up. even with it, this song is amazing... but, oh if it were something else... alright. go ahead and attack, i am braced.
No need to attack you, you can stop your bracing. It's your opinion on a single phrase in the song. Personally I relate to even that line. I used to live a lifestyle where I could have died every single day(came very close twice) but never thought about it. Lost many good people to a similar lifestyle. It doesn't mean you have to change your opinion, but an alternate point of view is always good in a mind-broadening sense. That's why I try to be courteous these days, even though 90% of the effort is lost on public forums like TH-cam. Hope you have a nice week !
i think it's in reference to the 'gladiators' violent life styles. somebody who is in these situation often do not think of death as it is a constant, day to day experience.
Srgt. Hamy i understand that part... i think it was the 'its okay if you do, its fine' that seemed... i dont know too simple for the rest.. but maybe that is why it works? like, you can still be a 'gladiator' even if you think you will die in battle with whatever you are battling... there is a quite famous quote that says 'courage is not having no fear but being afraid and doing something anyway'

Almost like Billie Eilish. Billie does something similar only Bilie Has songs that are apparently dark and Lorde has music that has dark undertones
