It was the soviet wunderwaffe basically, being ahead of it's time by 10 years 3: There were a few reasons why it didn't went into production: It was heeeeaaavy. Too heavy for the soviet infrastruckture. The soviet doctrine said to build as many okayish tanks as possible (being moderatly expensive but with that, moderatly sucessfull) while the IS-7 was an amazing, but expensive tank
