      I've ordered a t-shirt from you guys, the shirt colours are amazing. My only concern is, will the ink crack or fade e.g yellows and red it's printed on black t shirt. I notice the red doesn't stand out much. I just want to know if I wash the shirt inside out will the ink stay on. I want it to last.

    I just wanted to clarify from a consumer perspective, isn't screenprinting superior to digital? In my experience, screenprinted clothing washes and ages well, for years, whereas digital really doesn't. At least that's my experience; would you agree?

  • @sharadaramadass9732

    Thanks for this informative video. I am looking to understand this a bit better. Is digital printing different from the rubber kind of heat transfer print? I ask this with respect to longevity and print quality of digital print. I know that the heat transfer or rubber-y material starts to peel or crack in a few washes. Will digital not peel or crack in the same way? and how many washes is it recommended to last for?

    • @Teemillstore
      @Teemillstore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Digital print can still crack/peel/degrade if not looked after properly or the washing guides on the label are not followed. In general the lifecycle of a digital print is pretty comparable to screenprint

      Hey for screen print lots of manual process involved, is a skilled job. Digital there's no screen it's automated, which is how we can do 1 at a time

    how's the durability and feel for both? does digital printing leave thin layer on fabric just like heat transfer!!

    • @Teemillstore
      @Teemillstore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Durability is pretty like for like across the two styles of printing, as long as wash care label followed they should last just like any good quality product. Slight difference in feel if you get really specific, DTG print can feel a little more "textured".

    How does digital print cope with washing. what's the life expectancy of the print?

    • @Teemillstore
      @Teemillstore  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Simon, on paper and when washed according to the washcare instructions they should be equivalent. We've got digital tees that are many years old. In our experience we've found that screenprint is the most resistant to the widest variety of detergents and wash regimes outside of the advice on the label, whilst we've also found that digital prints are far easier for us to work with in our recycling program and have far more potential in terms of sustainability. If you want something for say, workwear at a busy restaurant screenprint is the way to go right now. For consumer products digital is proven.

    Digital printing is another perfect example of how technology continues to reshape the landscape of replication and value. In the past, creating physical copies of anything-whether books, artwork, or documents-required significant time, labor, and material resources. The process was slower, more expensive, and required skilled labor for each copy produced. But now, with digital printing, we can replicate items with incredible speed and minimal effort, bypassing much of the traditional labor involved in the process.
    This shift further challenges the traditional notion of scarcity. The cost of replication is no longer tied to the labor or materials required to make each copy. Whether you're printing a book, a poster, or even custom products, digital printing allows us to produce an infinite number of copies without a proportional increase in cost or effort. The real resource now is the *idea* or the *design*-and in many ways, that becomes the new "scarcity" we focus on.
    Just as digital copies of information have become infinitely replicable, so too has physical replication become easier and more accessible. This further diminishes the need for traditional measures of value tied to labor and material scarcity. In a world where both digital and physical goods can be produced at near-zero marginal cost, we’re left to rethink what it truly means to create value.
    The question then becomes: *If labor, materials, and time are no longer the primary cost factors in producing goods, what becomes the true measure of value in this new world?* It may not be about how much labor goes into creating something, but rather the uniqueness of the idea, the experience it provides, or the personal touch that differentiates one creation from another.
    This shift aligns perfectly with the growing abundance we’re experiencing, especially as the digital world continues to expand. As technology eliminates the need for labor-intensive processes, we may need to reconsider what value truly means and how we distribute it, moving from scarcity-based models to those grounded in creativity, uniqueness, and shared experiences.

    Please I am an advocate to screen printing because these digital printing press are very expensive and how many young enterprising designers can afford these digital stuffs? We here in Africa are to be pitied most, because in the future digital presses will become a monopoly business for the rich gurus out there and the hard working graphic designer who spent a lot of time to train will be a slave to those gurus. If digital, then the market price of these digital stuffs should be a wide gab and not to try and compete with screen printing enterprises. Thanks.

      Tech creates change. Good or bad is up to you. For example, with Teemill you could build a brand in Africa and sell into the UK. You can't do that with a screenprint carousel :)
