I’ve never understood the obsession with trying to one up everyone else with a gender reveal. Turning an intimate family memory into a social media moment is just crazy to me.
That's why I miss the old TH-cam and the old stupid funny videos where people were just genuine, being silly, funny, and filling you up with laughter.... Seeing stuff like this is like seeing someone trying too hard to be funny, silly, and goofy but failing miserably.
I’ve heard of people doing these stupid and potentially damaging challenges with the explanation, “I was afraid people would make fun of me if I didn’t.” Who?! Who in blazes is going to make fun of you for not doing a stupid and dangerous challenge?! Anyone who would do that would make fun of you regardless of what you do, so do what’s best for you and say no. There isn’t some vast group of people poised to mock you for not doing some dumb challenge. In fact, it’s more likely you’ll get mocked for doing it. The part about trying to be Korean reminded me of a story from the mid-1990s. A couple signs in American Sign Language had to be changed/retired because they were not politically correct. The old sign for an Asian person was to pull the corners of the eyes, and I think the old sign for a black person was to flatten the nose to make it look bigger. You can see why they were changed. From time to time you hear about someone using a now politically incorrect word. Just imagine a deaf grandmother or uncle using one of the outdated signs and their relatives thinking, “Oh, my gosh…” You know a lot of the fathers who react badly to learning their unborn child was a girl will try to laugh it off later. People think the old “If I act like it’s funny, no one will have to admit what a bad person I was!” strategy will work, but no, it makes things worse because you’re now belittling something that’s hurtful to someone and trying to prevent them from objecting to what you did.
Closer to the later end of my school year, girls were setting the school bathrooms on fire which caused the school to start closing the bathrooms at certain times 😤😡
