- A Good Year is a British 2006 romantic comedy film, set in London and Provence. It was directed by Ridley Scott, with an international cast including Russell Crowe, Marion Cotillard, Didier Bourdon, Abbie Cornish and Albert Finney. It is based on the 2004 novel of the same name by British author Peter Mayle.
This film if you get it....then no words to explain how well acted, beautiful story and wonderful French chateau/ village ❤️ It makes your heart burst with Love!!
A criminally underrated film.
Whenever it is cold and rainy and grey I put this movie on my player and wrapped myself into a blanket and get warm again by these beautiful pictures and the lovely story.
This song makes me miss something from my youth, just really hits me in the feels!!! 😓😭
My most favourite film. The music the characters the humour fantastic. Russel Crowe at his best.

0-53 is the great beginning tune. 0.53-3.24 is taken from the scene where he is taking pics of the house with his phone and the memories starting to really flood him.

Marc Streitenfeld's music score from A GOOD YEAR (one of my favourite movies NOT YET on Blu-ray) is haunting, hypnotic and conveys the perfect ambiance to the film and especially the feeling of La Provence. I was in Provence in 2002 (same area as in the movie - Luberon) and I will never ever forget it. Every time I see A GOOD YEAR and when I hear Marc's music, I become obsessed and I want to go back. And I am going back in September 2013 to celebrate my 60 th birthday.

I will say from the beginning the music is very compelling.. Acting superb and to see Albert Finny is always a treat to watch. Russel Crow is one of my favorite actors, filmed in Provence France, the scenery puts you in another world, and you would have to be an outright romantic to really enjoy this film. If you are not, just dig the movie for the love of wine! Cheers.

A great film... just might need more than one viewing to really click. Shot immaculately. Every Ridley Scott film is a film study course in itself. I could watch this film again and again.

I love this movie very much. I was for years in the Provence - Pern les Fontaine, the same area and house. I love the actors, all . Good movie a good year. I have the dvd, my favorite.

@pixelopolis Though critics didn't love this, this movie remains one of my all-time personal favorites..This is how movies should be made..Whom should we praise and whom should be leave? Everyone from Scott to Cornish were just too good..And, music...One of the rarest and the most melodious..With me, however, this movie is related with some not so good incidents..One of my old and healthy TH-cam accounts was deleted for posting soundtracks with video clips...:)
The wonderful thing these days is that movies have a critic review and an audience review...I usually go with the audience review.

hate to disagree withg those who suggest you need more then a second vioewing to like... I loved it the first time, 2nd, 3rd... etc... got mesmerised and eventually had to tale a trip down there to see the light and hear the bugs buzz... the wine tastes even better than you can imagine, just don't forget to adjust and enjoy the local "tempo" - don't rush and take 2-3 hrs for lunch, you'll understand when you're there, and learn French for god's sake (even if I'm struggling, they appreciate it)

This movie brought great wisdom to me and helped me grow in many ways f.x. now i respect peoples point of views, it brought respect in many forms actually. This has been my favorite movie for many years but now i hope to find it a replacement.

@GauchoPK Well, I think, I've mistaken. In the movie these are a separate melodies, but in soundtrack it's a compilation, like here. The name is Max-A-Million, like on the title.

way too bad for someone messed with your posting videos relating to this film.. but i absolutely agree with both everything you said and and pixelopolis.. i suppose movie critics these days must be completely deprived of old good romanticism.. and i mean the type that actually makes you feel better not wish 'it happened to me' kind of thinking :) i'll repeat myself but truly great acting credibility.. plus it simply makes you believe in love and feel good at the end of the day :)

@DanceGirl2103 this is by no means a great movie. Ive never seen Ridlye Scott and Russel Crowe fail so epically. Its cute at times, but far from being great. The soundtrack is awesome though.. :-)
