    If you want to save the raw hem on the skirt. Put in a row of stay stitching or have it hemmed. You will only lose about 1 1/2 inches. With the stay stitching you will lose nothing.

    • @MariaNicoleStyle
      @MariaNicoleStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Cheryl! I'll have to look into the stay stitching. I'm assuming a tailor can do that too? Thanks for the helpful tip :)

      @@MariaNicoleStyle yes a tailor can add some stay stitching.With the new threads available should be able to match. It shouldn't cost much. It's much easier than adding a hem

      @@MariaNicoleStyle : There are also products that most fabric stores carry (or perhaps obtainable thru Amazon) that prevent fraying. i.e.: Dritz: Fabric Fray Check Liquid Seam Sealant Plus there are numerous brands of fabric glues that dry clear that are machine washable as well. Also if one wishes to create a hem; there is iron-on hem/seam binding.

    I had a great denim skirt like yours back in 1977 worn with a navy kid high wedge peep toe shoes with plaiting, ankle strap..Aus made and expensive. Skirt felt great. Then in about 1984 summer country road did a white version, I wore in fiji with a floppy sun hat oversized pink tee and cropped as an expat with babe on my hip. It’s a really nice skirt to wear, feels great.

    Excellent styling tips! Thank you. As to long denim skirts, recall when a teenager (now am 76 years old) we often converted our jeans to a skirt and recently did so, by using a pair of very wide leg ones (but fitted at the waist and hips) that I felt were a little too young for myself as wore years ago but still in excellent condition. That being said; with the age of technology TH-cam has some wonderful tutorials how to do it. i.e.: DYI Long Skirt From Old Jeans / Cassie Olufemi 'How to turn jeans into a denim maxi skirt'.

      Aloha Susan! Thank you so much for watching. I would most likely style the white skirt in a similar way. The key is to stick to the 1/3 - 2/3 rule mostly so wearing a top tucked in or a cropped style jacket/blazer/cardigan really helps keep the line long. Also, being mindful of the shoe to not break up the length of the leg either. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching!

    I loved all of the denim skirts, especially the wide hem, but I don't like the lightened areas on the hips which is where I draw the line. I loved your column skirt, but the slit is too high for the office unless you work in fashion. I could steal your pink jacket! I loved all of the looks. That’s what I needed! Great content as usual! What do you think of midi denim skirt?

    • @MariaNicoleStyle
      @MariaNicoleStyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! Midi skirts in general bother me because they cut you mid calf and that can be shortening and unflattering. Same rules apply as I mentioned in the video to have a slit in front to show a longer line of the leg, stick to shoes that don't cut you off so that the line goes all the way to your ankle if not further to you toes. That will make a midi skirt (denim, silk, satin, what have you) more flattering. Thank you so much for your question. I hope I answered it for you.

    • @MariaNicoleStyle

    Question about the oversized blazer: I am small and I tried a blazer on, it’s definitely an oversized style, but are the shoulders supposed to go past your natural shoulder line? And how do people know that it’s an oversize style versus that you got a blazer that’s just two sizes too big on you?

    • @MariaNicoleStyle
      @MariaNicoleStyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you for your question. The blazer I show in this video is very oversized. I bought my usual size which is a M and this is definitely going past my shoulders which are already broad as it is. I looked at the model on the website and her shoulders are dropped too. I think an oversized blazer (or if you size up on a normal blazer) the shoulders are going to be past your natural shoulder. If the blazer is fitted, it should land at your shoulder to be the proper size. I don't like my blazers too fitted because it feels too restricting. I hope this helps!!! Thank you for watching.
