He once told me during his illness that he was able to win the war in 1945 but he can't win this war with his cancer.How I miss my father so much. Thankyou for this video. Best Regards Carmela

      I am so sorry for the loss of your father. No matter how much time passes, nothing eases the pain associated with a loved one's passing. Your father was a hero not only to his country, but to his family as well. And may he rest in peace in the knowledge that he is remembered and admired by so many who never had the pleasure of knowing him.

    As a former Tank driver and a history buff my self I really liked this one...I always say that in my other life I served under Patton!! (I didn't though)!! I always felt like he was a true leader...he wouldn't have his men do it if he wouldn't do it...he was a Great Soldier!!! thanks again and I enjoy the bodies!

      Hi Robert, first of all I would like to thank you for your service to our country, and for taking the time to leave such a nice comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. And you know, in a way I believe that you DID serve under Patton. Of course you would know better than me, but so much of his leadership and expertise in tank warfare has been passed down to the current day.

    General Patton is at the US Military Cemetery in Luxemboug. He was initially buried in the middle of the cemetery, among the 5,500 graves there. There were many daily visitors seeking out his grave, wearing a path to it. So his grave was moved to the edge of the cemetery to save the grass. Years later there was a proposal to build an above ground tomb, His widow rejected that idea, and said if he was to be dug up again, she would have his remains moved home to California. The tomb proposal was abandoned.
    I heard this story from the present cemetery superintendent while ob his guided tour of the cemetery.

    I have seen many videos giving tours of Cemetary, but they just don't compare to yours!!! I love the way you give so much background information on those you showcase. And I think most of all, I love the fact that just about all of the people you talk about are just average people...not movie stars. Thank you for all your hard work to keep their memories alive. 😊

      Teresa Laing Thank you so much for your kind words. I can't tell you how much I appreciate hearing from nice people like you. And I will always keep ordinary people as the cornerstone of my videos because I feel that the extraordinary comes from the ordinary. Thank you again. :)

    Just so that there is no confusion. There are actually three old cemeteries in San Gabriel. Two of the cemeteries are located at the old San Gabriel Mission. One of my great-grandmothers and a cousin are buried in the old family cemetery while the one inside of the old mission grounds is the cemetery for the Claretian order, which took possession of caring for the mission in the early 1900s. The San Gabriel Cemetery presented in this video is the one located on sizeable lot along with the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church on Roses Road about a half mile away from the old mission. One person not mentioned as buried at this cemetery is the former Los Angeles Ram, Merlin Olson.

      @graveexplorations  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for sharing the information on San Gabriel's cemeteries. This spring I plan to visit some of the missions, and San Gabriel is one of them. There are a couple things about exploring cemeteries that really get to me. One is joyful surprise as the fascinating life stories I find purely by accident, and then there's the frustration at overlooking fascinating life stories because I didn't do enough homework. I would have loved to pay respects to Merlin Olsen. I remember him not only as a DT for the Rams, but as an actor as well. Everything he did was always so positive and uplifting. A great, great man.

    Have you looked into the theory/likelihood that Patton was murdered? It's pretty intriguing. There's actually quite a bit of circumstantial evidence to point to this. The car accident itself and the circumstances of his death in the hospital were both very suspicious. He was causing a lot of problems by critiquing the post war subjugation of Germany and insisting that he be allowed to turn the 3rd army on Russia.
    "We defeated the wrong enemy." - G. Patton
    If you understand the geopolitical situation of the postwar era and know enough about Patton to know what kind of threat his dissident opinions posed, it's not such a stretch to consider that he was "whacked" for not toeing the line. He had already been a bit of a thorn in the side of the establishment during the war. Praising Germans postwar while insisting on going after the Soviets was a bridge too far - especially since Patton was the type of guy to actually get things done.
