    This Video:
    Austin Reaves has been getting a lot of attention lately, so much attention that people on Twitter are calling him the NBA's first ever industry plant. In this video, I take a look into Reaves's journey to the NBA, the media coverage he's been getting, and more to see if he indeed is the NBA's FIRST industry plant.

    Let's be real, he's only being called a plant because he's white. He's very talented and a super smart ball player. He doesn't force shots, great from all areas of the floor and is an incredible passer and very solid defender. Him coming up the way he did gave him time to really learn the game which is why such a young player plays like seasoned vet. He's got a great career ahead of him.

      @Truth Seeker _“if you watch him he has a very uncanny way of creating space and is aware of defenders”_
      *In terms of creating space* he’s got a little Steve Nash in him. Nash was masterful at creating space in traffic. On the perimeter, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and to a lesser extent JJ Redick were great at using screens and dribble pull-ups to get their shots off. To be fair, they were doing it when teams actually prioritized defensive play and physicality, and when guys like Bruce Bowen and Thabo Sefolosha were patrolling the perimeter.

      Yeah he had a genius plan to succeed in the NBA

    • @TuNnL
      @TuNnL ปีที่แล้ว +23

      The Detroit Pistons were the only team that was still seeking to draft Austin Reaves on the day of the draft. While Reaves had a preference for the Los Angeles Lakers, the main reason he declined to be drafted by the Pistons was they only offered him a two-way contract.
      Rob Pelinka had personally scouted Austin during the NBA Draft Combine and promised Reaves a 2-way contract, if he declined any NBA team that had not worked him out yet. So all things being equal, Reaves and his agent saw no value in being drafted, since the Pistons' opportunity was the same, except the team was worse, and in a smaller market. 🏀

  • @Recsy
    @Recsy ปีที่แล้ว +274

    • @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701
      @undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I call bullshit on that story.
      1. If Detroit wants to draft him, they will draft him.
      2. If the Lakers told them they'd take him outside of the draft, that's tampering.
      3. If the Lakers committed tampering against a player Detroit wanted, Detroit would sound the alarms and at the very least, the Lakers wouldnt get him and probably more negative things would happen to them.
      You cant make agreements outside of the draft, you cant tell other teams that want to draft you someone else wants you, you cant decline being picked (you can decline the contract), you cant do basically this entire story.

    • @mustchow3771

      It’s not tampering lol. Teams are allowed to have conversations with any prospective pick. Additionally, only first rounders get guaranteed contracts and money, 2nd rounders don’t receive guaranteed contracts. so him telling the pistons that he wouldn’t sign a contract with them if he was selected is well within his right. You just don’t hear about that from most second rounders bc a majority of those guys consider themselves lucky to be on a roster.

    The truth is that he's getting a lot of hype because he's doing very well as an undrafted, awkward white guy in a league dominated by black athletes. He has a great story and as we all know, people who have to talk about sports on a daily basis need content and they will use whatever they can find and the kid is a hot topic. This proves that if you can truly play and you get an opportunity and you take full advantage of the opportunity, great things can happen for you. You don't have to have a lot of hype coming into the NBA. When given the chance, you create your own hype by your play and that's what Austin Reeves has done.

    Austin Reeves the only reason he’s even talked about is cuz he gets buckets and cuz he’s white.
    He’s not like Luka Doncic which everybody knew he was a born to be great at basketball. He would have been a bust if he wasn’t. He just so happened to be worth the hype. Same thing with Giannis. Same thing with Embid.
    The reason AR is getting a lot of love is because just like Alex Caruso he’s an underdog story. A white boy in a black dominated sport which as of late it’s really not so dominated by black men anymore. We got Joker getting MVPs, Devin Booker Puerto Rican, trae young both white and black.
    Irregardless Austin like Caruso showed a lot of hustle, a lot of enthusiasm, and no one expected much out of him. The fact that he’s getting 20 and 5 and 4 a game is huge for a summer league prospect.
    Caruso got the bag and honestly we miss Carusos enthusiastic dunks but now we got Austin Reeves. It’s very much the love poole or looney got at the warriors last year. Pools has unfortunately seen his stock drop down for obvious reasons but the point I’m making is our love as viewers goes with results and expectations.
    When underdogs succeed we love it when high expectations go sour we dislike it. That’s just NBA viewership. If Austin gets a big bag contract and doesn’t perform remember all that love because he won’t have it and it will be just a memory.
    Honestly Reeves is young. Has a lot to learn but he’s hustling. He’s improving. He’s making big plays with no fear. But best part that ppl love the most is that his heart is in it. That’s all that ppl can hope for

Hes protecting his brand but with Austin that moment you saw was pure because awesomes appear Baller and that's what Bron respects and is attracted to. So loves him as a teammate and that's why you see genuine Bron.
