Jimmy Rossi challenged our "Music from Miles Across the Pond" group this month to record any song by an artist on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time" list, and to give our thoughts on the placement. Well, I picked #1...and #50. It is not surprising that Dylan is top of the list, though it was only recently that I started to understand why. However, Joel, in my opinion, ought to be higher than the halfway point! Joel's genius goes far beyond many who were placed anywhere on that list. Oh well, they did not ask me... 😤
Anyhow, despite my conflicted opinions on Bob Dylan, this has always been one of my favorite songs, namely the arrangement by my all-time favorite artist Billy Joel. It deserved a little extra special attention, as you will see from my video. Enjoy. 🥰
