And now he's married... to be fair he grew up in a time where marriage was the norm so i can understand why he feels guilty for not marrying. Now marriage doesn't matter at all.
It's scary how close this hits home. I'm 39 & unmarried. In theory, marriage seems pretty good. In practice, the only successful marriages are where the man provides financial stability and no objections. I've made enough for myself, but I'm average looking - so I ought to make more to make up for my lack of looks. I get some interest from single moms, but why would I want to raise another man's kid? I'm supposed to be the good guy, when the other schmuck left?
I feel like my family feels the same way about me and my huz b/c we don't have kids. His family treats me like I'm a freak like if I don't have kids there's something wrong with me.
Here's excellent advice...Before your wedding, sign the marraige papers together and lovingly volunteer to go over to the county clerk and register them...but never really do it. Then; if she eventually screws up, or cheats, or defy's your respect, and you've had enough; tell her to get the Frig out of your house, and that you're not legally married! You win!!!
Listen, my husband died when my kids(both boys) were 7 and 10 years old. I have been raising them myself for almost 5 years, and working full time My husband was a stay at home Dad. They have NEVER been in any type of day care, as I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home now . There is no "good cop, bad cop" here, just doing the best I can and I don't complain about it ever. Sometimes it is very stressful being the provider and keeping up with the housework and the kids needs.
