- Although many jazz fans don't like the arranged cello section that appears throughout this album, I personally think it adds much to the music of the basic band. No it really isn't 'elevator music'.
I've had this album on vinyl LP since it was released around early 1979 and waited for many years for a CD release. Eventually it was released on CD then very quickly went out of print, which is why i'm putting this album up here.
Of the 6 tracks there's the title track, which is a version of the ballad by Leon Russell, and still yet another version of the standard 'Someday My Prince Will Come'. But the remaining 4 tracks are all originals composed by Carter. Carter's originals are always welcome for me and the thing that I really focus on when hearing a Carter album for the first time. And the talented musicians supporting Ron probably need no introduction.
1)"Song For You"(Leon Russell) (0:00)
2)"El Ojo De Dios"(Ron Carter) (4:48)
3)"A Quiet Place"(Ron Carter) (11:23)
4)"Good Time"(Ron Carter) (17:37)
5)"Someday My Prince Will Come"(Churchill/Morey) (24:36)
6)"N.O. Blues"(Ron Carter) (29:39)

Just wonderful. Happy birthday. You are amazing.
I think this is a great album. So many session legends on this under-rated album.
I agree Nigel-i've loved this album pretty much since it first came out and waited for the CD reissue for years. Always glad to discover someone else who appreciates it as well.

My favorite D.Hatawhay song by Mr Ron "took-over-the-business" Carter. Even better than what I could ask for.
Leon Russell wrote it; Donnie covered it.
@@patrickclark1308 I stand corrected!

Glad that you like it buddy-but there's no electric bass guitar here, it's all upright bass and acoustic 'piccolo' bass, which is an acoustic upright bass that's tuned to a higher octave than the standard upright bass...
sweet! Thank you.
