The brown bear is SO CUTE. I also got him, and he is much less saturated irl than photos (good for me). The colors remind me of coffee or a chocolate croissant
I love autumn oak, but only in a slightly juicier pen than yours, for then you get lots of halo effect, basically your letters are outlined in a dark border. I knew dip pens were off a little, but I had no idea they were that bad. I was looking at your autumn oak and wondering if the sample was wrong. One other cool thing about autumn oak is that it looks so different in different settings, indoors vs outdoors vs led light vs incandescent. PS. the bigger the air bubble, in the converter, the more flow you will get, and I would reduce the vacuum a little bit before working on the feed to make it wetter, if you ever want it wetter. Cool video.
When it comes to orange inks my favorite is Monteverde Mandarin Orange. Since you mentioned that you like sparkles and glitter, you may want to consider getting a BENU brand pen. Sparkly pens are their specialty. Some even have ends that glow in the dark for extra fun.
Thank you for the Monteverde Mandarin Orange rec!! I’ll have to check it out with my new hoard of orange inks while I search for the right one. And yes!! I have had Benu on the mind for a while, but I’m waiting for one that speaks to me. Im partial to their Ambrosia shape, but I’m not super keen on neon colors which many are. They have a pen in their Scepter line which is pastel pink, a bit of violet, and gold glitter, which is right up my alley! I just dont like the scepter shape 😅
Southwest Sunset also writes super light for my eyes, just an FYI. I tried it in a couple of my medium nibbed pens and no go. The shading helped, but it still wasn’t legible enough for me. I might give it a go in my Stub nibbed TWSBI since that puppy is a gusher. I’ve seen that makes all the difference with much lighter inks. You might even try that yourself.
I was surprised your Autumn Oak swatch was so red, when I swatched my sample it was so orangey-green sick looking that I immediately knew it wasn't for me. I hate when I'm so extremely disappointed by ink and I know it's going to be different in a pen. Also: I just had the same experience with Lamy Mango. Way too light in my pen ...
Oh wow. I felt bamboozled too. I can’t believe how different that ink was in the pen vs dip pen. I wanted to try a dip pen just because I’m not sure why I’m getting ink everywhere when trying to use my fountain pens. I have 2 fountain pens given to me from a friend. I really don’t know how to use them properly 😂
Hihi you were like me, relying on samples made by dip pens. Absolute rookie mistake for sure. It puzzles me why many youtubers and ink reviewers still use dip pens though. The color is wildly inaccurate, and it predicts nothing when it comes to how an ink behaves in a fountain pen’s feed and nib. Delightful video, Justus. I love your inks and pens videos where I see you write.
Haha, you’d think being in the pen community this long I wouldn’t have fallen for the dip pen trap and yet here we are! I know for next time. Thank you for the feedback, I may have to write a bit more in my next video for you 👀
Wow that swatch ink comparison 🤯Its so interesting how everything plays a factor on the outcome. TYFS❣️✨
I really want the Brown 🐻 🖊

What an insightful comment! I’ll definitely have to try autumn oak on my stub and see how it looks. Im eager to see all of the magic you described’
Lol I loved this and totally agree with you about Autumn Oak I loved all the swatches I saw but I hated writing with it thankfully I only got a sample
Well, I had never heard of Line Friends before, so this sent me down the rabbit hole.
And let me tell you it is an extensive and expensive rabbit hole to find…

I have the Benu Ambrosia in Zinnia and love it! It is probably my favorite of all the models. The Talisman style fits nicely in the hand too.
@@justusspace Monteverde makes my favorite oranges too - Citrine and Copper Noir. Both are nice and deep and not in any way neon or poopy haha
Have you tried the dip pin again with the Autumn Oak? That is a shocking difference that I can't comprehend!
I absolutely have! Im dumbfounded every time 😂😭
I was really rooting for autumn oak and was equally shocked to see how it behaved in the pen!😳
RIGHT?! Autumn Oak really used someone else’s profile picture for that dip pen swatch 🤣 Gonna have to call the tv networks on that one
Loved this video ❤

Wow, I have never seen such a big discrepancy between glass and FP. Although Diamine Ruby in my Luoshi XF nib is disturbingly 🍊!
Right??? Like I know that dip pens are typically darker, but that was a whole catfish 🤣
@@justusspace I wonder if it's worse for reddish tones? Experimentation required....
