Brands want Angelo (and are hoping Aj can behave for a bit) because they are so desperate to compete with Cael. Brands look desperate. Cael would never recruit or court the Ferraris. Cael is class personified.

Unfortunately for Coach Brands he is not going to come close to beating Penn State this year. As an Iowa fan I acknowledge how scary Penn State is with depth of wrestling talent they have.
I coached hs lacrosse for 15 years. A few times we lost in the playoffs to a team with a culture that allowed kids like Aj to act as they pleased. Postgame, I'd say the same thing: "I'd rather lose with you guys than win a championship with those kids." Brands and Iowa has more to lose than the matches they might win with the Ferraris. Reputation, legacy, control of his room, respect of his former, current, and prospective wrestlers. As a coach, i would touch anyone in that family with a 10' pole. Cancer to team cohesion
After the last few years with AJ , you'd think he have some contrition. But no such luck. He's obviously not emotional issues. Under NO circumstance would I have him on my team. It's just a matter of time till the next incident no matter how many times he "apologizes". WE ARE!!
Iowa could make their wrestle offs a PPV event. Drama is what AJ wants though. Brands may think he can rein him in like DeSanto but DeSanto loves wrestling, AJ loves AJ.
Yeah Desanto was different w him it was more just beef w other guys just being really competitive. He’d get the crowd riled up on a couple occasions but it wasn’t blatant disrespect. He was aware of his actions and had a level of respect for his opponents.

I’m not sure why DeSanto gets lumped with AJ so much. I know DeSanto had some edge and was showy but I don’t recall him being vulgar towards the public and loving the spotlight like the Ferrari’s. Am I missing something?
Figured with car accident, allegations against him, he may show some humility. Nope, he’s a cartoonish WWE heel.
The difference is modern day WWE would not tolerate this behavior backstage. Their heels are acting/playing a character... AJ isnt acting. Thats who he is.

Iowa needs him. That is their style. It has been that way for many years. Pushing off and all other bully tactics. Perfect fit.
Helicopter parents is not their style. People don’t get that it’s more than just wrestling. No coach wants to deal with parents thinking they can persuade their way into calling the shots.
I think the Brands are fond of the Soldier Salute cause and this was probably the worst possible place for AJ to pull this stunt. I'm not sure how AJ survives this. Not to rub too much salt in the Iowa wounds, but what are the odds 😄
If this happened in a dual, it could cost the team a win. This was after a win, what about after a close loss. Dont know if he can control his ego.
When push comes to shove for the Ferrari bros., they do both. If the Brands bring in Austin DeSanto to mentor the Ferraris, they'll be OK.
Ive been wrestling and coaching for 35 years. Tom and Terry Brands can handle one ego. If it was a bunch of bad guys thats one thing. Its one person in this social media age. Its almost impossible to hide these days. Ive never punched or spoken negatively to any opponent in my life.
This didn’t age very well but, it’s good to see that at the most angelo and Anthony are still wrestling at iowa even if Aj ends up at Northern Colorado
If I were a Hawkeye fan, I would rather lose or have a worse season, than go all in on that nightmare of a family
I feel the exact same way. I will have more respect for Iowa if the Ferraris go somewhere else.
@bacsigabe29 I did have a dad that was plenty concerned and passionate about the sports I played. It didn't make me want to throw hands and flip of the fans when things didn't go my way

I noticed the video was cut not showing the Hawkeye wrestler throwing the first punch? AJ was simply defending himself and the ref was clearly biased against him the entire match calling stalling calls when the Hawkeye was actually the one stalling the whole time. The ref should also be banned from officiating college level matches.
I love college wrestling and I was disappointed this incident happened. I would rather have discussions about key matches and what other wrestlers did during this tournament rather than this embarrassing moment being the focus.
I want to start out first by saying, I am a wrestling fan. I am not an “ Iowa fan” but I follow Iowa because they are a great program and I love wrestling. I also need to say, I am a Penn State fan, because I love wrestling and I have son’s that attend that university. All that being said, the Ferrari’s are not good for the sport of wrestling. They are a representation of what is wrong with this WORLD. They care about themselves and no one else, which does not represent team or the sport.I hate this for the kids that are at Iowa, they did not go there for this circus. Iowa has a history of great wrestling. I hope the AD steps in and directs this circus to beat feet out of town.
In reality though, this was a VERY tame incident. Let’s be real, this happens a lot in wrestling and is part of it, especially given that wrestling is a contact sport and very rough.. the irony of people freaking out over soft pushes at the end of the match, even though the shoving and roughness during the match itself is much more rough lol
@@michaelnorth2055 The head shove towards the matt and the little punch, maybe. But the total lack of disrespect for the sport was when he flipped the bird in his face and then the split with the double birds to the fans. This wouldn't be getting blown up if he would have just stopped at the shove.
AJ apologizing to the fans is at least something. That said, agree 💯 the Ferraris have to eat a little humble pie and lose the antics.
AJ apologized to try and save his ass. Iowa AD said enough is enough and then AJ immediately ripped the “liberal snowflake” NCAA. He has zero remorse. He’s a cancer to any program, plain and simple.

I doubt Hawkeye fans will forgive the Italian salute, it could not have been more direct. Even if the Ferrari Clan ends up in Iowa, it will only last one year, they will implode. Sad honestly

Look, I'm a Hawkeye Wrestling fan - period. Right now, the Hawkeyes don't have a leg on which to stand bc they are not performing. Brands has had an issue with his lineup bc he's not delivering up to their potential. Iowa has a fan base to begin with bc of its tradition Gable built - the Iowa style and Winning. They aren't showing either as of late, and if getting back on track means strengthening the lineup with guys who are hungry and change, despite their antics, then so be it. Not proud of AJs bs, but if the team wants to win, they will do what they have to do in order to accomplish that. They can work on AJ, and he can help us in the lineup.
Anthony Ferrari got beaten with takedowns. He was beaten pretty badly for a guy who was supposed to be elite. Got the Ferarri flex in his face too😂. I bet the rest of the team is wanting to send those assholes packing

The Ferraris are not going to ruin Iowa wrestling or Tom Brands. Tom will grayshirt them, let things cool down this year and do team building over the off-season. Next year the Ferraris will be on the team and winning matches and no one will care

Since Michigan has beat Iowa soundly, Brands is in trouble, period.
I've read a lot of comments where people are trying to establish false equivalencies between the Ferraris and DeSanto. These people have no idea. And while I wasn't a fan of Desanto's chippy and dirty wrestling in close matches and matches he was losing, there's no comparison to be made between DeSanto and the Ferraris, and the baggage and the stigma and the behavior that they bring with them.
You should do more of these no edited videos if it will allow you to squeez in additional videos!
Ultimately it’s Up to the Iowa coaching staff if they decide to go w these Ferrari boys. I know my thoughts on them, it’s not a good look , just my opinion but the fans don’t get to make that decision it’s the coaches.

In the end they need to wrestle off again and whoever wins the best of 3 matches has the varsity or top spot. Period
Brands is desperate to get back on top but it’s his style of wrestling that keeps Iowa from winning big not the talent. They don’t need AJ Ferrari to win a title. Brands needs to teach offensive wrestling and not this bullshit style of being passive. Iowa has been loaded for the last 5 years and has 1 title to show for it because his guys wrestle passive and don’t take the match to the opponent.

The Ferrari's are punks, they don't deserve to wrestle in the NCAA. I love wrestling, I'm a buckeyes football fan, but I have always liked the Iowa wrestlers, especially Spencer, Kemerer and Marinelli, saw Cassioppi wrestle in HS. Bring in the Ferrari's, then Iowa is dead to me, they are bad for the sport. They are not firing Tom Brands whatever his Ferrari decision is.
If ferarri comes in and wins the iowa fans will forgive all. Brands did a great job with Desanto but that was a different situation. I would not risk taking him but if the Brands straightens him out they are legends. I hate everything about ferarri and I dont particularly like the brands brothers but I will look forward to their future success. AJ is talented but troubled and maybe the brands can make him a better person. Lets hope.

The Brands need to talk to Parcells & asked him what he'd do. He always said "when someone shows you who they are, believe them"

Winning will cure a lot of that and the fact it all happened after the match should not have given the Iowa kid the win if you want to dq AJ I guess but to award the win is not right either AJ will be AJ he was stripped his chance to be a 5 time champ on some BS as much as he can be to much he will be doing it for Iowa not against I don't know what the difference is between the first shove that was much more violent than the half hearted limp swing he took and I was actually impressed with the splits nobody is leaving the chance to wrestle for Iowa because they don't like there teammate national champ or 2 Iowa will not pass up the chance to get the brothers who could be legendary in the sport
Athletes should deport themselves as sportsmen at all times. We have enough nonsense with professional ring sports. Amateur sports must avoid that at all costs.

A couple points I’d like to make, give the Brands credit for taking a shot at some rough characters and maybe try to help, you can’t name another program that does this. This is the Conor mcgregor nonsense that has bled into the wrestling scene that some people have said it’s good for wrestling it grows the sport, I say hogwash. Now some of these young men like aj think they’re going to be some big super star and build a brand and attention is money, but this is a bad look on the sport. I hope the brands cut the losses and get rid of this nut job self centered family and just take a bad season.

People will want to wrestle there, Brands or not, Ferrari or not. Doesn't matter. And the Ferrari upside is big. He's a national champion with 3 years of eligibility and his little brother is the #1 recruit in the country. Lastly, some people actually root for one like this to turn their life around. Not all of us want to see a guy with so much talent go to jail

They are excellent wrestlers and I know nothing of the antics of the others, but I find it impossible to justify signing AJ at this point, to any college program.
The kids are a problem! I don’t care how talented you are if you are a problem you are not worth the risk. If Tom cares more about a win than the bigger picture he has his priorities mixed up and it might cost the entire program.
