Instead of remove the solomon water as sig entity, the sig should cut down the rate that people pay. The rate of the waterbis too high. Solomon Islands is the country around the world that charge highest rate of water consumption. Water is life and should be cheaper commodity in Solomon Islands. The highest rate charged by solomon water affect many families in solomon islands that depend on getting water from rivers and streams for cooking, washing and drinking. SIG should supply water free to the people living in Honiara and urban areas. Solomon Islands is full of water and the government duty and obligation to the people of solomon islands is to supply them with clean fresh water.

Since the Solomon water owned by the government the water bill is now skyrocket, why? Water is the essential of life and should be not expensive. Solomon Islands is the only country that water and electricity are very expensive. Water and electricity should be cheaper to the people of Solomon Islands if the government is taking over these commodities. Instead it's very costly to the people of Solomon Islands. So the government aim is to over Solon water and Solomon Power to charge the poor people of Solomon Islands while Ministers and their cronies are getting free ride. This is absurd because you have been elected to serve your people not to serve yourselves. This is not the leadership Solomon Islands people want. We want leaders who lead to serve as stipulated in our aim and motto - "To Lead Is To Serve". Selfish and corruption have marred the leaders of today, only fews are true and honest honest leaders. God bless Solomon Islands that one day we have true honest leaders that will give hope to our people.

I don't know the issues concerning Solomon Water. All I know is, as a resident of Honiara, some times we go without water for 2 or three days, at least where I live.

I thought one of the legal brains with two masters in law from university of the south pacfifc emalus campus law school and another from australia would provide top notch legal advice but it turns out he is more interested taking photos with president of fifa with no progress in solomon islands international rankings and now a mess wirh the solomon water authority.
What use in his legal skills then for siwa?

Solomon Water should always give public 24hrs notice before turning off water, without water hygiene becomes a health issue, if enough warning given ahead before shutting it off people can organise themselves the amount of water that they need for drinking, cooking and washing.

Minister's Decision To Remove SIWA as SOE Increases Political Interference & Jeopardise Donor Support: Hon GDL is right to be concerned
I totally agree with Hon. GDL that the removal of SIWA as an SOE for the purposes of the SOE Act would not address the issues highlighted by the minister in all his official press statements.
The chronic issues highlighted by the minister has nothing to do with SIWA being an SOE for the purposes of the SOE Act. The new board will not address those issues highlighted by the minister.
The truth of the matter is that removal of SIWA as an SOE for the purposes of the SOE Act is to give the minister total control as to who would sit at the board level to do the bidding for the minister. Control of the board is important because the board decides all the management issues, including the decision regarding the current litigation on foot before the High Court.
The minister has appointed a new board. If the new board decides to be independent the minister will likely remove them as he wishes. That is basically the only outcome of the removal of SIWA as an SOE for the purposes of the SOE Act and one Hon GDL was referring to in Parliament.
The SOE reforms were undertaken during the Sikua Government with support from donors. Donors insisted that their funding for future SOEs were conditional on SOEs being operationally and managemently independent of governments. In a nutshell that meant an independent board of directors to make decisions that would be solely for the interests of their respective SOEs. The minister's decision to interfer with the management and operation of SIWA has the potential to jeopardise current and future donor funding for SIWA.
The minister may think he can solve the SIWA issues. But his decisions and actions so far does are pointing in another direction.
      End//

Smoky, stop talking like you represent Guad. No, no, you represent yourself and your constituency. Stop speaking non sense, seems to us that you are the most unparliamentary mp ever debated in the SI parliamentary chamber ever. Do your homework by reading the parliamentary standing orders first. What makes a leader is not pride but humbleness. Respect your colleagues and stop making jokes out of what you said cos it will only derail and tarnish your good character and embarrass your own constituents and immediate family members, naf nao and learn 2 guti.
