I'd definitely want trailer brakes on anything heavy. The adventure with the Ford is why bumper pull towing serious weights is really for medium duty trucks. Fifth wheel trailers change the game considerably and military vehicles tend to have conservative load ratings because designers know they'll get beaten like a rented mule.

Humvees with 12k suspension have the same rear springs as on 1994 and up H1 hummer,
EXV Humvees have higher spring rate.
Isn’t the towing on these a little under 9k pounds? That skid steer is way over that
