I got a tj a couple months back for 600 bucks, ran and drove perfectly but needed the fenders and floorboard replaced and I just got a set of poison spyder fenders for 150 and I’ve been following your videos on tips and tricks. I love your videos!
That was one heck of a deal on those fenders I could only wish for a deal like that . They came out really nice and I'm looking forward to your next video . Take care and be safe .
Tell me about it, I was quite set on building my own fenders but couldn’t say no to these. Occasionally finding used parts like this is probably the only upside to living in a part of the country where road salt destroys our vehicles. Thank you, and same to you.
I’ve really enjoyed watching you budget crawler series, I’d love to see it in action when it’s all finished, if you’re ever up in NH you should check out the explorerNH forum in the summer, always events going on.
@@dironaa you killed it for $150. I did get the 6" flairs, they cover 35s on the wider front 44 scout axle. Passes inspection just fine. If you want a Scrambler, you might pay a lot. Prices on old rare 4x4s are skyrocketing. Have seen CJ8s sell in the $40k range, and basket cases for $7-10k
@@Deadfeat The prices these days are insane. Hopefully the “vintage” 4x4 market cools down at some point in the near future, otherwise I don’t ever see owning one. Even the LJs seem to be climbing in price and those are only 15 years old.
This is the first vid I didn't like; nothing you did, except buy those ugly fenders! Best thing was seeing the fenders off, exposing some paintable surfaces!!!! I prefer the stock fenders, they just look nicer. I'm in Canada and have no intention of rock climbing or needing extreme articulation, so stock would be fine with me. I get why you did, so great job!!!!
I had to replace one speed nut on the manifold that holds the exhaust pipe on. From the dealership $6 for the speed nut and $6.10 for the bolt. Couldn't find them at Ace or Lowes. Great build. Any plans on going to TJ Fest on Moab this spring?
Ouch! I couldn’t find these speed nuts at Ace either, ended up ordering a bulk pack of them off of eBay and now have a few spares for next time. Would love to get out to TJ Fest but unfortunately don’t see being able to make it happen this year
Not an expert on this so might be a silly question .. but i can see the new fenders look great but don’t have turn signal lights ? Are you adding them later ?
Love the videos! Have a ‘97 4.0L that I’ve been working on that sat in a driveway for a long time. Do you have any brake issues? What about engine noise - like rocker noise?
Cool! Technically no brake issues, but the brakes could use improvement with the 33s the jeep is running now. Rocker noise isn’t bad on this one but the last jeep I owned had over 200k and the rockers had so much play it sounded like a diesel. Never gave any issues, just a little noisy.
Still on stock suspension. Hope to keep the stock springs and only upgrade the shocks but we’ll see how it sits when the build is done and the jeep is loaded down with gear. Trimming the stock flares goes a long way toward gaining clearance.
How did you paint those? Are they color matched with your Jeep? My Jeep has a rotted fender which is easy, i just don't know how/where to get it painted. I'd like to save some $$ by doing it myself but at the same time don't want it looking like crap
Used rustoleum gloss black paint from Walmart, so not technically color matched but they came out close (upside to having a black jeep...downside is all the visible scratches). I painted them outside so there are certainly some imperfections from dust blowing in the wind, but for the $ spend I’m happy with the results. If you want an OEM quality finish I’d definitely recommend going to a body shop to have them painted.
@@dironaa yea my Jeep is also black. I may end up going to a body shop even though I really don't want to since I would be getting oem fenders and it would look strange to have them look different from the rest. Yours turned out amazing though. The gloss looks great.
This jeep is just a side project for me, I work on it when I don’t have anything else to do but for better or for worse I have been very busy with other things lately. I’ll consider it, thanks for the suggestion!
Can't go wrong with flat fenders. They look great on a TJ, the last true generation of Jeep, that they look right on.
So true!
Looks Good ! Thanks for making videos
Thanks for watching!

Cool, sounds like a good deal on both the jeep and the fenders! Thanks for following along!
As always, love the progress man! Can't wait to see more!
Appreciate it!
Those bolts along the fender are a very nice look. Good job!
They are! The other option was rivets.

A lot of great work. Really looking good. Congrats
Thanks a bunch!
Man I want those factory fenders you took off.
Those are as good as gold where I live!
“This video’s getting a little bit long” at 12 minutes in. KEEP GOING. But really, 10/10 love these vids
Haha I’m one of those ding dongs that doesn’t like watching videos longer than 15 min. Maybe I’ll try something a little longer in the future
I love the metal cloaks / Gen rite as well but damn that price tag kills me. Good score on finding these for such a good price.
I hear that! If they weren’t so expensive metalcloaks would have been the first thing to go on this jeep. The added clearance is hard to beat!
Hope all is well and the long gap between videos is just because you are busy.
All is well, have plenty of footage recorded hopefully I'll have some free time to edit over the winter. Thanks for checking in!
Still watching, man. 👍🏻
Thanks! Hopefully more content to come over the winter!

Looks great!
Thanks!
Great video. 👍 Any interest in trying out our 3-color 4-mode led bulbs?
I have Genrigjts ony Scambler. Awesome product.
Cool, would love to own a scrambler some day!

@@dironaa lol, talking money, my wife and I just placed our Bronco order. 52k. Going to be pretty bad ass. Wildtrack in Area 51 Blue.
Your OEM fenders looked great. Why make the change if you aren't getting extra clearance for bigger tires?
There are a lot of trees on the trails where I live, the OEM fenders would have eventually been smashed. The new fenders are more durable
@@dironaa Yup. I have plans to install GR fenders in the future for the same reason. Both of my TJ fenders have been mashed up on trail trees.

What issue was that shortened TJ in in JP magazine?
Looking great, how wide are these fenders
I believe they are 3” or 4”

Hey man where u at! Miss the vids!
Still here, hoping to have more time to edit over the winter!
Not many used parts in my area .
One of the few up sides to living in the salt belt: lots of jeep part outs when the frames and tubs rot away lol
Not an expert on this so might be a silly question .. but i can see the new fenders look great but don’t have turn signal lights ? Are you adding them later ?
Correct, I’ll be adding them in the next episode
Nice video! Definitely gen right and metal cloak my favorite 2. Do you plan on freshening up the hood paint?
Thanks! Not sure yet, I'd like to but I can't make the jeep too nice or I won't be willing to take it out in the woods and use it LOL

Is it necessary to remove the inner fender to mount outer fenders?
No, you can cut the outer portion of your stock fenders off without removing them
Any new mods, parts, videos????
Plenty of footage recorded, need to find time to edit!
@@dironaa post that shit!
I see that you’re running 33s and a 1.25 body lift. What did you end up having for a suspension lift?

why didnt you post for so long about this tj
also you should paint the rings that hold the headlight in black to black out the front end

DO you have any contact?there has a business enquiry for you
Hi there, this is Liz from MXR, a brand of rebuilding and car parts. Are you interested in any TH-cam business collaborations?
You made the wrong choice getting rid of the fj
I still have the FJ as a daily driver, this jeep will be my wheeling rig
