I have a Master's in geology and I understand where you are coming from. The Earth is 6000 years as the Bible says, God's word is sure. I will try to explain it to you the way I understand it. Adam and Eve were created as adults and not babies. God had a purpose for doing things that way. When He created the canyons and mountains, he called into existence rocks that were layered and that were aged more than 6000 years because that's what he knew was best for His creation. If you don't believe me, it's okay. Pray and ask God to give you an answer. God is faithful and true, He will help you.
