I'd like to know what is meant by "science based reforestation", I'm asking because I know an example forest which burned down august 2018 in Brandenburg, Germany. The city administration planted trees shortly after and and many of them dried out, there are trees on that field but the vast majority of them were not planted and regrew naturally. At the other end which also burned down but got left to nature, nature is regenerating and preparing the eco system to get back to it's natural cycle, even after a fire. There aren't just herbacous plants that grow but poplars, pine and other trees. I'm sceptical about this, but if you want to reforestate something you can and should just take care of a space you want trees and plants to grow on and leave it alone. I'd like to read the science papers upon which your attempt is based on.

Out in the country we use cardboard as a soil mulch with leaves on top around our vegetables, trees, and shrubs (blueberries, yum!). Please pass the word to companies to begin using tapes and other packaging that are bio degradable so we can use this cardboard without eventual pollution of our soil. We have no recycling out here, so if we can turn things, not just tapes, into compost or mulch to eventually turn to compost, it will cut way back on the rubbish heaps we have in the country. We drive 15 miles to the store and it would be nice to have more degradable packaging of all sorts. Thanks for passing this along.

@@IAm-zo1bo I agree, still impressive though.
@@shawnsmith3741 They just bought it, their priority is money don't be a fan of a company
@@IAm-zo1bo Every company's priority should be money. That is what leads to impressive things such as youtube (ty capitalism). "Just bought it"? Alphabet has owned youtube for the vast majority of its existence. Yotube was impressive before and has become even more impressive under Alphabet. You do not need to be a "fan" of something in order for it to be impressive. I am not a fan apple, but their engineering is impressive. I am not a "fan" of China, but the way they slap around America is impressive.
that leaf falling on my window page surprised me a little and my collegue caught its attention. i knew there's something new when you click it. all the best to google and hope that other major company will follow suit with regards to helping our environment.
Also, you should make all your cafeteria 100% vegan and if possible locally produced.
This will speed up your climate goals 200%
This is amazing, really gives me hope for the future tbh! Way to lead by example Google 🥳

You can sell my information whenever u want as long as you plant 10000 trees per sale (and following shares) as long as you keep those trees alive for 100 years.
you guys are changing the world.
well done google.
Every single company should be as sustainable as GOOGLE is.
Congratulations for the contribution till now.. And, All The Best for your further work....
Thank you Google. Its nice to see a big company trying to do good for the environment. Sustainability is key to doing business in the future. No matter what your take is on climate change, man made or not, why wouldn't you want to take care of the earth? Kudos to the Google team for making a valiant effort on sustainability and becoming carbon free.
your google action doesn't make sense. human activity can change the temperature on Earth by a maximum of 0.5 degrees Celsius. taking into account the entire planet - including India, Russia and South America.
The sun's activity has the greatest impact on the temperature on the ground and we have no influence on it, so do not invent shares that are only supposed to draw money from our wallets for something that does not make sense!
so all the cars and homes of employees are neural also? if no than its you work to be but your not. to be 100% neural means 100% of what makes google including employees and supply chains but be neural also.
Bravo !!! Très beau projet.

I need a link to see what is their definition of "carbon free". Because, sorry, I doubt they are truly carbon free.
It's really cool, but the messaging is deceptive.
How is it they were carbon neutral in 2007 but only in 2017 where they matching their consumption with renewable energy?
In their site, they say "In 2007, we were the first major company to commit to carbon neutrality". Commitment vs achieving it is quite different.
They're just pretending

It's easy to do the things you do because you're a rich company.
This is fabulous and extremely commendable. I am shocked that I (and I bet most people) had no idea that Google is carbon neutral and that Google is doing all this great work for the environment. How come there are not many more views and likes on this? This is so good and reassuring to know. This video made my day/week. Great great work Google. Thank you so much for being an example on pollution control, sustainability and conservation for all others. Please continue the great work and help us help in this invaluable cause too
Carbon free energy doesn't mean that your datacenters won't emit carbon ! So it seems that you do not talk about every key elements of the problem !
I'm however glad to see that you actively work on saving our ressources and our planet thanks to reforestation, which will at least partially respond to your datacenters' carbon emissions problem (and I hope fully, as you say you are neutralizing your entire legacy carbon emissions). Keep going !
