Hi Richard, this is actually a button accordion. Russian bayan is slightly different from mine (different reeds, order of buttons in the left hand, different tone timbre etc.) :)

I'm not a music person, but it seems this instrument can immitate electric guitar on its left keyboard and organ/bagpipe/violin/hurdy-gurdy/flute or whatever instrument is used for playing the melody.
