    The screws are so long for the thickness (thinness) of the rubber strip. I think screws half that long would have worked just fine.

      Yes! I definitely agree that the screws I used are too long! They were the shortest ones I had on hand so I used them. Major overkill with the size I had. If you have shorter/smaller screws definitely use them! Thanks for watching!

      @@digitalcamproducer white painted Phillips screws 3/4 inch in length would have been the pros choice

      Why not glue it?. It will provide better seal .

      The screws are massive. Could glue behind you much smaller white headed screws Aesthetics count.

    Thanks! I had never seen this type of seal before, so I wasn't sure how it should be installed. My local big-box hardware had the seal, but no picture and written instructions so vague I could not even tell which edge should be against the door! Turns out, it IS simple to install--but only after seeing a picture of how it works. So helpful! Thank you!

      I would recommend a 3” screws vs 2” screws. You want to feel confident that weather strip is in securely. By the way, I am a manager at McDonald’s if you are going to question my qualifications.

    The part where you put screw is what goes to the door side. The thick side is what gets nailed to frame.. But should work the same.

      I bought the same stuff he did and he installed it per the package instructions. Doesn't make much sense to me either

    A white truss head screw would look nicer and probably hold better. Would only need 3/4 inch long.

    Many hardware stores sell screws with pre-painted heads, maybe you could’ve opted for a white head screw, or just painted it yourself.

    I seen some weather strippings that come individually with a plastic wood looking piece that you nail in

    • @digitalcamproducer
      @digitalcamproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah there are different kinds of garage door weather stripping. I like the ones you mention. I might have to get that kind next time. I’ve seen it on other houses and they looks better than what I got! Thanks for watching!

    hi. I have an unusual opening between my garage door and side. hard to describe. Can I get your email or some way to send you images and get advice on how to proceed? I have a triangular opening at the top and sides. ty

    • @eman-3
      @eman-3 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Defintely needed if you want to keep the cold and hot on the outside.

    • @whoodiestyle
      @whoodiestyle 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. At our house there is a gap in our old weather strip and now bugs , and dirt and debris gets inside the garage. We have mud Dauber making nest making huge mess inside garage.

    My seal is actually attached to a 3/4" think piece that is attached inside the garage door and is warping on the sunniest side of the garage. II can't find any replacement seal that looks that thick. Does anyone else have this issue or have a suggestion how to replace seals like this?

  • @605guy
    @605guy 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Going to need much larger and longer screws. 😂

  • @jimzimmerman5288
    @jimzimmerman5288 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why such long screws?????

    • @digitalcamproducer
      @digitalcamproducer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those were the size of screws I had in my garage so I used them. Also the package came with thick nails that were maybe 1.5 inches long. I didn’t want to use them because I thought they’d split the wood trim. And they’d be difficult to remove when it’s time to replace the weather seal.

  • @ctvette1318

    What an eyesore!! My eyes would focus on all those screw heads every time I look at the garage. I do not recommend anyone doing it this way.
