When I clicked on this video I saw the title and was expecting to be disappointed with the same external view of the low-rez scaled down version of the Idris that people saw under the map of Lorville. Instead I stopped what I was doing and became glued to the screen. I've seen the Idris many times in CIG's walkthroughs but I don't think the size of it sunk in until now. Awesome job on the camera work! Also.... WTF is that at 6:51 lol.
Just the fact every structural integrity element is bolted, welded and interlocked and made of single huge pieces is a damn good nod to not only detail but also the fact this thing was made to stand up to and be the death of basicly annything found in space.
At the same Time when you see it in SQ 42 your going to say meh I saw this a year ago.....I bet you love it when people tell you the entire plot and ending of a Movie you wanted to go see too......
MAy there is ppls with no memory or maybe you are new backer, but 3 years ago, Cig made a video of a mpuv going into an idris and they showed the idris interior, not as much as he did in the video, but it was enough to understand the scale.
That Captain now that's one I can serve under. I know that puppy wont let me down. What's confusing though is this ship isn't accessible to anyone but if this is an artist point of view on it then its done very well and took allot of time.
The FTL music sends a shiver down my spine, like it was designed to fit just right in. I wonder if the people made the FTL knew it would be such a legacy.
@@shh532 The avenger fits.... which means the mustangs should fit.. But I am curious as well as to if they will fit with the folding wing re-design on them.. Same goes for the Arrow in my case.. I'd love to join an org with an Idris and be able to store/fly my Arrow out of it.
I know right i can see room in there for at least 4 Avengers CIG claims 2 that can launch and one spare that can't, I call Bs on that there tons of Room...At least 8 Arrows for sure! Its Not like our ships Need a runway!
Cyberwolf74 they probably give each ship half again as much room as it need so you can walk around it and such. I bet if you started to cram the things in their you could fit maybe 4. In the end, this isn't a ship made for carrying fighters, look at the kraken and other escort carriers for that.

He communicates externally with the other ships and internally with the crew members and thus passes on the orders of the captain or other officers. Flight Officer (1) - The Flight Officer coordinates and commands the ship's fighters and bombers, etc. Radar Officer (1) - The Radar Officer monitors and operates the radar and scanners and identifies contacts. Lower Bridge: Fire Control Officer (1) - The Fire Control Officer coordinates and commands the gun crews and assigns them targets. Power Officer (1) - The Power Officer is responsible for the distribution and allocation of power (shields/drives/weapons) and distributes power to stern, bow, port, starboard shields. I am really looking forward to being able to play SC when "Squadron 42" comes out. This is the kind of video that keeps me interested. Really nice look at the Idris class. I kind of have a real interest in one of the MISC Freelancers but I'm really impressed by the wide selection of ships planned for the game. I think I'll be learning to fly in a Hornet though. That's the concept of "Squadron 42" anyway. I am also hoping that the environs will be so interactive that if I'm on something like an Idris, I could actually play a game of 3D chess with someone in the mess hall or quarters area between missions. Many of the ship interiors look real enough to be have a 'second life' kind of draw. maybe we'll have those sort of assets too one day. Thanks for the look Teller.
This is amazing, well done! One thing I noticed from this is the MedBay seems to be all the way in the front which seems odd to me. I'd imagine it's something that should be more central since accidents/injuries could happen anywhere on the ship, and should also be closer to the landing bays for easier access when injured people are brought on board. Seems odd to bring injured people all the way through most of the ship on a stretcher bleeding everywhere in the halls lol.

That's not to say the music in Star Citizen isn't good, it is actually very good. There's just none of it used in this video.
SO happy I got one of these on the 29th! I also got the K upgrade kit as well. In fact, I wonder if the K's auto turrets will be enough to make this ship somewhat solo-able as I love the idea!

Lucky! Didn't get the chance to pick it up YET. CIG is currently in the process of making Recruitable AI to man a ship of this size, and to think that the flyable ships will end up being almost 10x larger (1.2KM) with a full interior lol. Anyways, as I said ships of this side especially with all the mechanics they are addin requiring more crew for specific roles apart from turret manning such as Engine Management, Cargo loading, Critical repairs, and even Cooking in the forseeable future. I'll pick this ship up probably during Fleet Week in 2 days, if not I'll wait for SQ42. The amount of scale this game will have, not only with it's soon to be multi system ability, but with the ships which are Massive, 4 times bigger than the JAVELIN, and needing a whole crew either Player or AI, to explore the interior and all that. @@gballsr I'd say a lot more than that. Not only is the Arrow larger than the Avenger, it also has folding wings. I think you can add 3 in the same space as an Avenger, and there's enough room to fit at least five Avengers on board.

Yup, ship's finished Problem is that tech is needed for this. Server meshing for SC, docking mechanics for both SC and S42. And how interesting could this ship possibly be without engineering gameplay. (I for one would like to need more than a pilot and turret gunners in a capital ship, don't you agree?
For all of Captain Archers faults, he was bad ass enough to name his Beagle Porthos. This ship has a weak ass captain who needs a dog bigger than he is.
No you're not, but that's because those are not Star Citizen assets. This is not currently in Star Citizen, and is done in the offline version using mod tools. And as such there's some things that are in there that will not be of course be in there when it finally makes it into the game.
Part of me wants to comment on the egregious amount of wasted space in this design, especially with the giant corridors and random empty spaces... but then I think of what kind of hell it would be to have NPCs trying to path through something laid out as compact as an actual naval vessel. So I guess it's fine.
I can't wait to see how long the Bengal will take or the Kingship or Retribution lol. The Retribution especially, I reckon a fly around trip like this for that ship would take easily over an hour. :~)
The only way i see this ship being viable is if you can somehow set it to be a hub for your crew , like they can store their ships inside and spawn in there etc . And your ship is just kindof always at a dock or in space . Otherwise its too big and ull have to find a big ass group every time u play

On some ships currently Flyable, such as the Mercucy star runner, the chess board is interactive and you can play with one of your friends lol

Well we found out one important fact. The Cargo Bay doubles as a Torture Chamber.

For all of Captain Archers faults, he was bad ass enough to name his Beagle Porthos. This ship has a weak ass captain who needs a dog bigger than he is.

No you're not, but that's because those are not Star Citizen assets. This is not currently in Star Citizen, and is done in the offline version using mod tools. And as such there's some things that are in there that will not be of course be in there when it finally makes it into the game.
Part of me wants to comment on the egregious amount of wasted space in this design, especially with the giant corridors and random empty spaces... but then I think of what kind of hell it would be to have NPCs trying to path through something laid out as compact as an actual naval vessel. So I guess it's fine.
Just bought an Idris today, looking forward to be in it in a year or two!

The only way i see this ship being viable is if you can somehow set it to be a hub for your crew , like they can store their ships inside and spawn in there etc . And your ship is just kindof always at a dock or in space . Otherwise its too big and ull have to find a big ass group every time u play
