Creepy how similar my experience starting out was. My dad showed me Jingles videos before I started playing the game and they got me hooked. I don’t remember my first video but I distinctly remember one where this Hellcat tried to jump on an ISU and killed himself in the process (on Mines I think), something Jingles called a “cunning plan.” I thought that was the funniest shit ever as a kid. Didn’t really remember Komarin very well before this video, but I can think of the tank traps and getting my shit kicked in there as the stock IS-3. Also playing that map in the BT-5(?) and asking my dad what “wtf” meant after seeing it in the chat, probably while stuck behind those tank traps. I think my favorite tank was the Pz I C. I was never good but I don’t remember regularly not having fun until several years after I started. Oh well. All good things must come to an end. Thank god I stopped being a loner kid before the game really went downhill. And I don’t think I EVER got sixth sense on ANY crews. I remembering seeing it in TH-cam videos back then and being like “huh that’s weird” and did nothing about it for years. Just didn’t fuckint care lmao
If the game was online in this version (inlcuding chat) i would still play it. Why don't they charge a server fee and give us a classic version, or different servers for older versions?
Saddest for me was when you mentioned that bug on Ruinberg. I miss these things like mountain climbing, getting to secret spots, bugs etc. It's not that fun when you have to follow strict rules about how to play your game.
I loveed old wot soo much, I remember as a kid i was allowed to play only on weekends, so i remember when i came back from church on sunday and got to play wot for an hour on my old pc, such a beautiful time, I wish i could go back to it and feel it once more 😌
10 years ago was around the first time I took a break from WoT, and then proceeded to play every other game besides WoT most of the time. God, these were fun times. And no, I'm not in my 50s, that'd be my dad who also played WoT until around 2013 lol
and all these reasons are why I used to play wotb instead of wot, I arrived in the game back in 2019 or something and wot was already full of campers so wotb was just a funny little wot that was just genuinely fun
Ey chems, I still have 2 livestreams on youtube from when I was literally either 12 or 13 from world of tanks, streamed off of google hangouts of all things lmfao. I used to play at 999 ping
I haven't played WoT in years but me and my dad started when I was a kid and I believe it was around 7.5, played through the introduction of actual physics (falling off cliffs), the artillery rework (stuns), graphics revamp, etc. The hit of nostalgia from this is crazy.
4:55 Definitely, these days you can get like what, 3? 4 crits? Assuming you have enough hp to tank it, that is quite frequent, imagine having this much damaged modules back in the day in every round
20:39 The reason you wont even take chances against that spg is because it has been engraved into our minds that spg's are scary and can actually one shot you with that hp
Wow, no way! Look, I know this would be very hard to believe but I am pretty sure that this VK 20.01 next to you 1:16 was me. I swear it, I recognise that game because it was one of my first experiences playing on the same team as KV 1S and witnessing it's raw power right in front of me. And yeah, obviously I sucked bady at that game, not much to do on a tier 4 at the bottom.
Direct fire arty was the ultimate thrill. I remember one-tapping an E100 that I caught in the back with a soviet arty that I can't remember the name of. And that was even after the HE rework. Way, way back when HE splash would always calculate damage as if it hit the least armoured plate of your tank regardless of if it was the closest to the point of impact or not because the line it draws to check what part got hit would ignore the rest of the tank and simply connect to the weakest plate no matter what. As you can probably guess it is supposed to stop at whatever plate it hit first and this is what the rework fixed. and the KV having the 152 and 107mm. and the IS-4 and maus slapfights. and the obj. 704 being an invisible death star. Good memories. I'm happy I was made to quit after being so disappointed in the World of Warplanes test. I'm less happy about getting hooked on War thunder as a substitute. And World of Warships can dangle. I got to a T5 battleship and just got pincer struck by RTS torpedo bombers over and over until I saw the writing on the wall and bailed.
Love how vocal you were, and not in a shit talking sense. It happened everywhere, even in team chat. It sounds cliché, but the game genuinely was simpler back then, because it was new for everyone
I remember I used to write in the chat "we come in peace" to the enemy team and waiting for their response. Usually they wrote "sure/don't lie or we come in peace too" and it was funny chat and not toxic like it is nowadays.
The AT 2 used to be something else. 200mm plating + 94mm howitzer = shitloads of fun. But of course, according to WG, you're not supposed to have fun. Whatever, thx for reminding me of that little beast, chems.
In that map you are playing as the Lee. Before they introduced the push physics many players would just block the bridge. 2 lights dead on the bridges would turn it into a cross fire match with no way to cap.
I remember not understanding how tech tree worked at first so instead of getting a KV that my friend recommended i got a T-34 and was really confused after playing it a bit. Btw, those tank traps on komarin and some other maps were "force" based - basically you needed both weight and speed to destroy them
1. The sounds were much better, nowadays tanks below 90mm sound like BB guns 2. *The smoke.* The amount of gunpowder smoke that is left after firing a old howitzer or tank cannon, making you unable to see is such good detail, I wish it would be here 3. The balance was much more fun, sure, some tanks were busted, but that is what made the game fun, actual tech tree tanks being better than premiums
On komarin you had to continously drive into those tank barrages to get through. Class didnt matter. Only weight affected how fast theyre going to break. I remember going through with my amx 40 back then after 10 or so seconds.
Wot back then ❤, hahah and that humorous ending 😂. i actually enjoyed kv1s really much, it was a beast. I remember grinding tanks depending on the look, to be more exact, i went for the tech trees without even knowing what the hell am i going to play on higher tier and I somehow managed to find KV-1 (it was the prettiest “the tankiest - it resembles the tank the most for me, so I badly wanted😂😂” ) and is 7 was my first x tier. it was nostalgic.
"This ain't no QB commentary I'll tell you that" omfg XD Jeez the old KV-1S. I kinda forgot about it but that was definitely one of the main reasons "Russian Bias" became a thing. Until they finally stripped it of its fantasy IS/KV-122 gun. Amazing how the game is relatively slow paced, easy to read, barebone graphics but pleasant gameplay. I joined in 2012ish, 0.7.5 or so. If you're right, you joined post-Great-Arty-Nerf... The best patch to ever be released in the whole of World of Tanks. The legendary 0.8.6. Lest we forget. Feeling OG right now.
I remember it well, gold ammo cost gold currency and THE OLD VICTORY THEME The KV1S was busted, you could destroy your own tank with two shots Artillery was also quite punishing in terms of damage
Reminds me of my beginnings, I started at the very patch that began the "New WoT Order" (9.16 or 9.17), I remember playing M3 Lee aswell. I also get the different vibe from maps, that the very same map that is now in HD seemed like it was at least upside down before 1.0. Also as you said some positions changed from just pile of rocks to some inventive stuff. I also reminded myself one snapshot from memory, going down the valley in swamp map and pasing by and M44, and I don't even remember the tank I was playing, maybe KV-1
It’d be great to see some older versions of maps. Sometimes you gwt these weird memories of a map that used to exist and then you realize it actually still currently exists but it’s completely different
Remember when wot had the updated physics where you could actually move up and down ledges and such and there were barely any invisible walls? Me too. That was literally peak wot. Even competitive wot was fun to watch due to them performing new climbs every season and full clans just training on maps to see if there were any new possibilities.
As someone who stopped playing WOT around 2016 this is how I remember it. I moved to war thunder as I think it’s a much better game for all its flaws and comparatively less monitised. Hearing Chems say that the m3 Lee is a collectors item is mad. Also sad what they did to the At-2. Got my highest ever kill game in that machine.
I cant believe that I have to say it, but SPGs were less annyoing back in the day. Now they fucking spam you with the greatest mechanic ever added (Stun dmg)
Great maps, friendly fire on, enemy chat on, no gold spamming, no wheeled tanks, not too many tanks with magazines, no op prem tanks, no "rocket boosters" (WTF lol). Finished with this game back in 2020. Good times!
I think the best thing of old WoT was we all interacted and played for the lulz The tanks were clanky, some maps were awful (some others were amazing), we had no damage counter so we just played to win, and the game was easy for new players to get in, although we always had sealclubbers like the hetzer, T40, alecto and such no one really cared
Wow the game chat was _actually_ wholesome back then. People telling arty to run because they never look at the map, people high five each other with the "yay, nice", a few quick jokes here and there.
My account is from late 2012 and i clearly remember this KV1S, at the time the team with the most KV1S often wins, the gun sound was also very different from the other making it the true alpha sigma lone wolf motivational tank of all time

And no, I'm not in my 50s, that'd be my dad who also played WoT until around 2013 lol
did you travel back in time and fk ur mom and now you´re your own dad and fucked up the entire timeline?
I remeber watching nemetepst and many Other wot meme creators getting me to Play this Game. Miss the good old days.
and all these reasons are why I used to play wotb instead of wot, I arrived in the game back in 2019 or something and wot was already full of campers so wotb was just a funny little wot that was just genuinely fun
Ey chems, I still have 2 livestreams on youtube from when I was literally either 12 or 13 from world of tanks, streamed off of google hangouts of all things lmfao. I used to play at 999 ping
Forgot to mention it was budderifictnt (Dont use it anymore)
My kingdom to get the AT 2 returned to when it had actually good armor 💪
KV-1S was the funniest thing to ever exist
PZ1C was the BOMB.
1:16 you are correct, the D-2-5T gun was the KV-1S gun. It's identical to the IS in terms of damage and pen, but with worse aiming stats.
brings back so many memories, so much nostalgia. thanks chems
25:21 Bro! Exactly the same situation, about 1 lvl and 1st branch. I remember how good T67 and hellcat were
Wow, no way!
Man I miss the kv1s
its amazing looking into old games and and memories like this, feels like an archeologist finding something.
Great video, thank you Chems! :)
6:11 oh holy shit i recall old tundra topography I used to go there with TD just to guard the flank
The AT 2 used to be something else.
200mm plating + 94mm howitzer = shitloads of fun.
But of course, according to WG, you're not supposed to have fun.
Whatever, thx for reminding me of that little beast, chems.
23:00 this thing still can happen, I have seen a video from recent WoT, where guy drove an ELC EVEN 90 into the bunker on Siegfried Line xD
In that map you are playing as the Lee. Before they introduced the push physics many players would just block the bridge. 2 lights dead on the bridges would turn it into a cross fire match with no way to cap.
Heck yeah...old kv-1s with some 40 km/ and 390 alpha...
I remember an insane carry that I failed in KV-1S in 2016 on Himmelsdorf (they capped out), it was even on my birthday
I remember not understanding how tech tree worked at first so instead of getting a KV that my friend recommended i got a T-34 and was really confused after playing it a bit. Btw, those tank traps on komarin and some other maps were "force" based - basically you needed both weight and speed to destroy them
KV-1S used to be a menace back in the day.. Back then 390 Alpha was hella abusive, especially when meeting Tier 5s
This really reminded me of the old days in which I played a lot of Blitz on my tablet. People were actually playing for fun back then...
1. The sounds were much better, nowadays tanks below 90mm sound like BB guns
2. *The smoke.* The amount of gunpowder smoke that is left after firing a old howitzer or tank cannon, making you unable to see is such good detail, I wish it would be here
I went for the tanks that had the biggest caliber guns 😂
"This ain't no QB commentary I'll tell you that" omfg XD
Jeez the old KV-1S.
Wot classic would be so fun
I remember it well, gold ammo cost gold currency and THE OLD VICTORY THEME
The KV1S was busted, you could destroy your own tank with two shots
Artillery was also quite punishing in terms of damage
Reminds me of my beginnings, I started at the very patch that began the "New WoT Order" (9.16 or 9.17), I remember playing M3 Lee aswell. I also get the different vibe from maps, that the very same map that is now in HD seemed like it was at least upside down before 1.0. Also as you said some positions changed from just pile of rocks to some inventive stuff. I also reminded myself one snapshot from memory, going down the valley in swamp map and pasing by and M44, and I don't even remember the tank I was playing, maybe KV-1
8:31 ahah the famous "s" word in chat 🤣 nostalgia
It’d be great to see some older versions of maps. Sometimes you gwt these weird memories of a map that used to exist and then you realize it actually still currently exists but it’s completely different
I started playing the game around the same time so this was very fun to watch.
Got any more of them old replays? It's nice nostalgia trip and I like the commentary.
For me who started in 2011 with the game it’s pure nostalgia! Not playing anymore since 3-4 years
Remember when wot had the updated physics where you could actually move up and down ledges and such and there were barely any invisible walls? Me too. That was literally peak wot. Even competitive wot was fun to watch due to them performing new climbs every season and full clans just training on maps to see if there were any new possibilities.
KV-1S had 7 degrees of gun depression. It was a beast.
I hope fred will get a new laptop
fun fact: my fist ever top gun in this game also was in a Lee. Although, it was late September of 2011. Yeah, even worse graphics, no physics, etc...
Old maps were great. I absolutely loved the NorthWest Map. Very entertaining.
Can't believe we're the same age Chems. You seem so old and wise
15:55 damn 30+ cm thick armor on the back? You could reverse into the enemy and they couldn't do a thing.
7:36 yes...yes...yes... KV-1 Derp gun
Now they fucking spam you with the greatest mechanic ever added (Stun dmg)
on god bro, 10 years ago I had a lot of fun in this game, and now all I get is rage issues lol
Great maps, friendly fire on, enemy chat on, no gold spamming, no wheeled tanks, not too many tanks with magazines, no op prem tanks, no "rocket boosters" (WTF lol). Finished with this game back in 2020. Good times!
I think the best thing of old WoT was we all interacted and played for the lulz
The tanks were clanky, some maps were awful (some others were amazing), we had no damage counter so we just played to win, and the game was easy for new players to get in, although we always had sealclubbers like the hetzer, T40, alecto and such no one really cared
before the worst WoT patch, the 9.6, the guns were sooo much more accurate...
I wish pre-9.6 WoT would come back
4:16 Meanwhile in war thunder: hehe funny 155mm gun 1-shots a maus
Back then my father was crazy about the kv1-s and me and my friends platooned for hundreds of battles in the ELC amx. 😊
Old Erlenberg is a must have in that next nostalgia video! Back when that map was fun 😢
Wow the game chat was _actually_ wholesome back then. People telling arty to run because they never look at the map, people high five each other with the "yay, nice", a few quick jokes here and there.
My account is from late 2012 and i clearly remember this KV1S, at the time the team with the most KV1S often wins, the gun sound was also very different from the other making it the true alpha sigma lone wolf motivational tank of all time
Thats it I reinstalled the game fuck you
