How do different materials (downloaded) react with styles? I use a texture and I applied a watercolor style the paver texture I used didn't change associated with the watercolor style.
As an Essenents student in the past, I am still learning with you and contributing on Patreon, because of your videos, I still occasionally find one I hadn't seen before, and find it as useful as this is. Length of video, and amount of focused detail balance is perfect. Very professional. jb
1. Use seamless texture = things that always repeat symmetrically 2. Manage different resolutions = stick to lower resolutions when not needed 3. Use proper material scale = adjust size of texture to model 4. Make sure texture is oriented properly = right-click texture > texture > position > rotate 5. Make sure texture is aligned properly = right-click texture > texture > position > move 6. Make sure you use a separate texture for "ends" of a certain object\ 7. Use UV mapping 8. Use PBR materials when needed 9. Be smart about detailing = don't waste time on unnecessary details 10. Use premade materials = download instead of creating your own textures
Hi! Thank you for the video! Is there a way to work with the position of the texture when I have applied the material to a whole component? (e.g. I have a component that is a wooden plank.) The right click has different options in that case and "Texture" is not one of them. Thank you!
I love your videos. I have learned so much from you. You make it so simple and easy to understand. My problem with textures is that I work with interior designers who want to see how the tiles, and materials they chose work in the space. The problem is the tiling. Is there a way to make a texture seamless so that it tiles correctly? Also, is there a way to increase the resolution of a material. I have material resizer but it seems I can only make it smaller not bigger.
Hi Justin, thanks again for your videos. Question, I'm am trying or experimenting with trying to convert multiple objects which have been grouped together (say 2 geometrically equivalent cubes which have been grouped together) and converting them into individual copied components so that if I change the geometry of one side of the cube then the other geometry of the other cube will change as well. I'm trying to bring these grouped geometric shapes back to a state when you create a piece of geometry, make it into a component, make a copy of it, then whatever changes you make to one geometric shape the other changes as well. Thanks for your help.
i am 32, i have a job non-related to architecture but im in love with architecture. I am interested in studying architecture so i can get a job in architectural studio. What should i do ?
If designing things peeks your interest you should definitely check out Architecture or other design courses for that. If you already doing a job start investing time in design things as a hobby because financial stability is a must during this unpredictable time of pandemic. You can try with Digital medium such as 3D modelling or with Physical medium such as paper and Clay etc. Whatever you do start with laying your thoughts or ideas on a piece of paper via sketch it helps with exercising your mind for the art of designing. If all this seems too intimidating then you can start with studying work of other artists and try replicating that or give it a twist of your own. Good Luck with your future endeavors. :)
Hi everyone! Let me know your best SketchUp material and texture tips in the comments below! :)

Your explanation is really understadanble and easy to follow , thanks a lot
Awesome!
Answered questions I've had for a while. Good content, well presented. Thanks for the links to materials.
OH dude! GREAT video on a topic where things get confusing and frustrating quickly.

Happy New Year Justin !
I wish you a 2021 year, full of projects.

Happy New Year!!! health and good luck!
It got to a point that I don't use sketchup textures. I'll use them as a kind of placeholder until I get the seamless version

Good detailed video.. Best tip was not to spend too much time detailing what won't be focused whole rendering👍👍
YES! Save time wherever possible!
hey, can you make a video where i mesh texture such as gravel to make it more realistic when i render it in lumion
spent some time trying to find out what I wanted to know - motherlode here!
Happy new year justin
