If you want me to lie through my teeth and tell you this is great support, I simply can't do that. Long Rant down below I'm not even comparing this to insanely high bars, these are just trash compared to the things Live twins and Eldlich got in the same set. There's so many design flaws in the cyber dragon & cyberdark archetypes that nothing short of a full retrain from top down (while preserving the best cards) will make this actually good and coherent. Cyber Jormungandr has the classic "cyber dragon summoning requirements" , has the stats for Nachster to revive, even mentions cyber dragons in the card effects but they just could not resist themselves to include jank mechanics like making the OG into an equip or including polymerization when literally no one fucking uses that in a "modern" cydra deck. And to add salt to the wound, it's also not treated as cyber dragon because they really want to make it worse, oh by the way, you don't even get the summon from deck part or equip part if u revive it via Nachster. Not to mention that it has a machine lock when cards like mathmech circular, snake eyes ash and so many other one card combos don't have a meaningful god damn restriction at all, they can be used going 1st or 2nd and Cyber Jormungandr? They don't even want you to make cyber dragon infinity going 1st with a machine lock. What about Cyberdark Wurm ? I don't know if that's a design oversight or intentional sabotage but it being treated as "cyber dragon" in GY actually backfires on you when you try to use it in cyberdarks because now instead of having 5 pieces to fuse for cyberdarkness dragon, you only have 4 + 1 "Cydra" instead. Then the 2nd effect is just laughable as a once per duel when those 1 card combos I mentioned don't have once per duels. People compare that card with mathmech circular but that's literally an insult towards circular. We still don't have a "fusion from deck" spell when Ancient Gear has one... Not only that, with so many engine requirements for all these jank and terribly designed support, it compresses the non engine space when the deck already has really few to begin with As a die hard cyber dragon and Hell Kaiser fan, I'm just fed up with all the mediocre support they keep printing for cydras and cyberdarks and yet a large majority of the cydra community are just happy with these lackluster or dare I say dog water support just because of their rose tinted glasses.
While I do agree with Jormungandr being bad, Wurm is extremely strong in Cydra and simply can't be considered bad support. It single-handendly lets the deck going first and deeply changes how Cydra is built for the first time after like 6 years. The real issue is Cyberdark being turned into a sub-engine, there's no reason to play their fusions or the originals. If Cyber Dragon wishes it, they can turbo Cyberdarkness by just adding 1 Cannon and it's a troll play anyway While the free cards provided by Wurm are useful in Cyberdark too, the deck completely lacks a midrange play that is Cyberdark-exclusive or is so Cyberdark-related that playing it in Cydra would make no sense and I'm not sure we will ever get it considering this direction
@testardonormanno8159 My gripe about it is just similar to my gripe with Jormungandr, it can't be used as a starter neither can wurm, you need to be already playing to even use the so called once per duel effect. Maybe it's me being hyperbolical but cyberdark wurm has no business being a "once per duel" effect when so many other more powerful cards aren't. And it did in fact make the going 1st ability of cyber dragons better but at what cost? Literally denaturalizes the deck and it's still fragile as all hell, sneeze and you're just dead in the water. As you can see in the video, I used my full hand to make the endboards and at most that's just 3 to 5 interruptions with nothing left in my hand, pendulums can do more with that number of cards than cydra with the new support. Normal summon Samsara D. Lotus ends on like 10 interruptions with 4 cards in hand pre-banlist hits. Everyone can have their own opinions, I'm just fed up and jaded at this point with all the terrible design choices and decisions they've made for cyber dragons over the years.
That's more on the rest of the Cyber Dragon cards being bad/outdated at this point. Specifically the lack of a starter is really felt, yeah. Regarding the denaturalization, it's only apparent. Cydra going first still isn't good enough to pick it over literally any modern. combo deck. I expect Konami to print something really strong for going second, perhaps a cyber fusion spell that is treated as Poly, but we'll gotta wait for the next set. They didn't announce the next Tactical Try Decks yet so there should be more
Cyber Jagumandor should Special summon If you control No monsters and should search you cyberload Fusion And the Cyberdark Wurm should count as cyberdark and should search a Cyberdark spell / Trap from the Gy so you could Play the Cyber dark Trap going first.
