That florist used to be called Eddy Ave Florist, and I think it was named something else before that as well.
I feel this strip got a lot more foot traffic when the old UNSW express buses used to run. When the LR opened in 2020, thousands of students walked elsewhere
If I was to travel into Central these days I would get completely lost as it definitely has changed that much that I don't even recognise it. I used to work in Surry Hills in the late 1960s. The last time I went in there when my sister came to Sydney was around 10 years ago at least & they hadn't quite started the new work then, there was just talk about it but at least it was still the old Central I knew & loved.
I remember the Umbrella Shop in one of those arches. You could get your brolly fixed or buy a really flash new one❤
I grew up in Sydney, central was always so dingy and not what you’d expect from the main train station in the country’s largest city lol. Good to see it’s finally getting a facelift!!
Lots of memories of buying kebabs (in the old days) from the first store on the left at the start of the video.
Boss... And the Kebab Shop. Absolute carnage
Wasn't this video released a few days ago?
Love your links❤ grew up in Sydney , now live in another state … lots of tasteful improvements, also talk of ridding the worst blunder ie Cahill expressway from the quay…not before time😊
be cool if they can repurpose the bricks. Last trip I did to central, I almost got lost, all the upgrades they've done, makes it feel like a completely different place in the tunnels lol, was kinda sad seeing the older section on the concourse, not being fully used at the time, and what was, not having many people, like it did in years gone by, but the work I saw done over a 4yr span, was a much-needed improvement for getting to platforms. I stayed at backpackers on platform 1, apparently was going to shut later that year and building get redone, but not been back to see what was done
Central Squeeze has also moved recently, next to CJ's I believe, where the previous slightly-hipster coffee place used to be. Is that shop being demolished also? It would open the area up a bit.
The ramp could be around a century old !
Cheers, Phil. Will be interesting to see what is built there!
Chased many an offender up or down that ramp and over that wall and down the small courtyard in front of those shops when I was a Transit Protection Officer at Central. Drugged up crazies. Muggers with knives. Drunken, violent scumbags. A coupe of attempted rapists. An arsonist. Two guys on my crew apprehended a guy with a small Bowie knife who had stabbed a guy to death at The Rocks that morning and stabbed another guy when the killer arrived at Central Station mid-afternoon. Petty thieves and pickpockets. Central Station used to be like the Wild West back in the late 90's.
The wall and ramp are at least a hundred years old, be a shame when they and those shops are gone. The kebab shop on the corner used to have great food. So did the cafe closer to the entrance, used to buy hot roast beef rolls, dripping in thick gravy, when the cafe opened in the early A.M. for the morning commuters.
My friend used to run the disposal store that was also located there.
I look back on my years at Central Station with affection, never a dull moment.
Wow!
Sam'll sue lol. Cheers, enjoyed the vid.
I know it was demolished many years ago way before TH-cam was a thing but would have been cool to see someone do a vlog on Sega World before it went
Ooooh i’ve never seen it in person however i’ve seen many photo’s.
It would have been great to be able to have covered that! :)
@@AbandonedOZ I was around 5 when I went only have some vague memories of the cool water fountains and all the bright neon Sonic themed signage within the building
That place was truly magical to 8yo me
Love the videos are you going to do anymore school sites
They have to wreck everything.
What an idiotic statement!
Oops, there I go, wrecking everything.
Will the main RAMP that you walked along at the beginning of the video STAYING .. I HOPE SO..
The ramp in front of the buildings that are being demolished is staying.
The ramp behind the buildings will go :)
What about the take away on the other side is it still there
We certainly don't need any more ugly high rise buildings in Sydney. So many areas already have been ruined.
I hope they leave the old street lamps
Why does Central Station smell of mould since its refurb? Anyone else notice?
Probably a good thing that these buildings are being demolished soon. They look very old & tacky for a city with a population well over 5 million. Look forward seeing what eventually replaces them in a year or two ❗️🙄😳
And to the guy who does these videos, why the he'll do you keep saying it's a good thing???? I don't think so mate.at all.
