I just bought a 206 xs 1.6 16v second hand 209.000km and i can say that the car is perfect for a first and it runs smooth like its new,the guy who had it was taking care of it,tires are new, brakes,clutch,air filter scoop simota,the interior was clear.the only thing lets say it troubles me is when i start it sometimes if i dont rev it,it will turn off and the other is when the engine is cold the car when i rev it sounds like a diesel one.
Im from argentina and 5 out of 10 cars here are 206's...great reliable car if you give it the right TLC

What envy these streets and roads! Here in Brazil, the 206 suffers from the filth that are our roads and streets. Peugeot charges a price well above average in parts for maintenance here. However, it is a good car.

Just stay away from the 1.4 and 1.1 I've heard that even the 1.6 ones are slow . also It's not as fuel economical as you might think , the ride is firm . But other than that it's a lot more fun to drive then most new cars because you can really feel everything on the road and the steering wheel is well balanced and gives a lot of feedback .
Jaroslav Roytapel 1.6 16v is good engine, consumtpion just like in 1.4 8v ! and 35hp more. If I looking for another 206 i will buy with 1.6 16v and after 2003 year.
Piotr Zakrzewski yeah I wish I knew that before I bought mine 1.4 it's very slow on the highways and if you go over 80kph the car revs a lot and it's even worse with air condition on (maybe 11km per liter ) . It's funny how good you car looks because the sun there is not as strong as here so it looks brand new .
Ill definatly get the 1.6 16v then. I just love the style of the 206. Its a nice looking car.
Jarek Roitapfel i got a 1.4 pretrol , from 2009 and it runs like a charm and the consumption is low 6.5% in the city.

Currently have a Peugeot 106 1.4 Sport, hopefully upgrading to a 206 1.6 16v this summer if the sale of my current car goes well! My mom had a 206 1.4 XR for a few years and I really liked it, except that is was a bit slow and didnt have many nice options. Therefore I decided to move up to a 1.6 16v with 110 hp in Quiksilver trim. Would cost around 2000 EUR for a nice one, hoping to sell my 106 1.4 Sport for around 1250 EUR.

First i had a Polo 9N (I´m German) It was a good car but always something was broken.. even the clutch was broken that was shit! It wasn´t even that old... any way I crashed that car past December and I decided to buy an 206 Like in the Video and I gotta say I´m very Impressed everything is working just fine!
Did you get a 206 1.4? Because the clutch is a known problem on this particular model as well.. ;)

I love this vids man. I drive a 206SW myself as a first car, but i always get a little shock after going from first to second gear.. i don`t know or it`s the car or it`s me who can`t drive.. I just have my drivers license or a half year... :(

@@mpc007 Bought a 2010 model 1.4 Auto (yes, in my country there is a 2010 model) for my daughter 7 years ago, 110,000 kms when bought. She has put another 80,000 kms since, it has been pretty reliable with the aircond needing some work. It has a four speed auto which we had to replace the actuator and another part. Apart from this it is a very nice car to drive and go long distance too. No rust on ours. She is happy with it as it is much safer than equivalent priced Japanese cars.

@Mayuri Sama oui merci jai aussi une 1.4 essence a 198 000km la 1L9d est vraiment increvable elle est encore en tres bonne état si ce n'est que la lumiere du compteur faiblit tres économique pour un minimum d'entretien je tourne a 6L en faisant de la départementale et de la ville.

I've driven a Peugeot 206 1.1 60hp (very weak engine) and I really hated the gear shifter. It's not accurate, it needs a long movement to shift and the reverse gear cracks all the time. What do you think about yours?
I have right now a 206 1.1 60hp no problem with shift engine is only reverse that i have trouble with and it's weak in highway but it is so fun to drive that i don't care max speed 170 that's pretty cool
Yes the gearbox hangs a bit sometime, its not the best in the segment. The cracking / tough reverse is a known problem for all Peugeos from that era, my 106 1.4 has it as well. @lyo0, top speed of 200 kph is not possible in the 1.4 8v. Official is around 170, and you might get 180 on the gauge but thats it. If you get to 200 you probably have the 1.4 16v model with 95 hp.
I have the same car with the same engine and I hate the transmission. I understand what you mean, it sometimes feels borderline dangerous. The car still feels quite nippy though if you give it enough revs

Yes i know, but it don;t have dualmass clutch so it safety for clutch and economical in the city.

Najzwyklejsza prawie gole 1.4 benzynka :) na co uważać ? Głownie na rdze, niestety tego egzemplarza dni sa juz policzone. Nie wiem jak w GTi ale chyba one mialy tylna belke wzmacniana a zwykla nie ktora wymaga regeneracji. Joseph Antonio Now it have around 154kkm, Yes it was second hand car but still in one family. Now it sold to my aunt. It really cool and chep car, if u want to take a petrol version buy 1.616v it have the same consumption like my 1.4 8v but much more power.
