Great info! This is what my daughter needs to complete her first 360. Most of the info is geared toward skim-style boards, not a lot out there for surf-style. Thank You, please keep them coming.
Love these videos, @AustinKeen! Thank you so much for making them. When you teach people one on one to do 360s, are they always successful? How long does it typically take as far as what you have seen on average?
Glad it was helpful for you! It’s all up to how quick the rider is able to get themselves to apply the advice. Usually there’s instant improvement or at least instant light at the end of the tunnel for success 😆🤘. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it right away, and have someone film you so you can see your mistakes! This helps a ton!
Hey Austin, Great video. I've got a 2022 xt23 How do set up your boat for wieght? Do you add more ballast than the stock? If so where? And what speed do you surf at? Thank you
Austin, what setting do you ride on your MC? I used to ride a 7, but have been riding a 3 at about 11.3 standard ballasts on the xt 24. Still keep messing up on my 360 attempts, so giving this tutorial a try. Thanks for the video.
I tried this last week on a Liquid Force Primo with just the center skim fin and on my second try I spun 180, was shocked that I was still up and then continued the rest of the way around. I was a bit too far back and lost the wave but the 360 happened almost effortlessly. This weekend I tried it several times on a Phase 5 Doctor with just the twin surf fins, trailer fins removed. I got my ass handed to me. I kept falling and getting hit by the board because I wasn’t breaking the fins loose. I’ll have to put more effort in with figuring it out surf style. G23 with a pretty steep wave, maybe try it lower on the wave or slightly farther back on the wave?
The Primo Skim and the “Doctor” will be 2 different methods for a 360. Definitely going to have to work on breaking those fins loose on the twin fin setup but once you do it once it will click! Try not to be too heavy on the tail so the fins don’t get stuck when trying to make that initial 180. I think about doing a quick “pop” or “hop” into the front foot. I’ll do another video to fix having trouble breaking the fins loose. Keep in mind those STEEP waves can make it much more difficult to ride away from tricks and land your 360s. Bring it down to a more mellow setting that still keeps you in the wave.
its kinda 50/50. Starting the 360 is easier on the skim and stopping the 360 is easier on the surf. But if I had to pick id probably say the skim is slightly easier

Super useful bro thanks for sharing
Wow, great vid. You nailed all the problems we've been having and how to fix them. We should have watched this in June, not August!

I wanna do this - who thinks I can! Haha
You definitely could dude! Id say about 30 attempts before you land it lol
What Finn’s and fin set up are you using on the board in this videov
I used 3 fins, but a lot of people prefer 4 or just 2 fins for more freedom to spin the board
I’ve surfed for over 40yrs can you be a bit more s specific I see they are future what size and model is it your own or Thanks
We need some more new content bro… Bring that 🔥 back for us this summer…
What tab settings are you running most ?
As easy as pushing the button on the mastercraft- no need to mess with tabs

For someone who is comfortable on both skim and surf style which do you think is easier for landing a 360 for the first time?

What board is this??
