    George usually had some pretty wild takes, but not only is his commentary here correct, but it’s held up even stronger after almost 40 years.

    Amazing. Stock trading on your computer in 1986. Thought it was in the 90s when that was possible. Commission fees must have been huge because doing it on the computer didn't become popular until the mid to late 90s!

      Commission fees were high at full service brokers too... and then they'd front-run you or burn you with churn.

    Holy cow the costs are staggering compared to today. In today's dollars, to get stock prices it cost $716 a month and today its free. Trade costs, $143 per trade, free on some accounts and $7 on others. The savings is based on $10,000, or $28,666, at 3 trades per year. I have traded 10 times in the last week. And don't buy Lotus. Does anyone even remember Lotus 1 2 3?

      And then the market came right back and went on a 12 year bull market.
