that was just a parameter of the game, not a direct objective like it would be in this instance.
Well Rambo didn't necessarily kill to kill he killed because they wouldn't leave him alone. At the latter part of the movie when he comes back to the town maybe,but throughout the earlier part he didn't kill unnecessarily

There was an anger theme over there, that's probably what made 'em create the Ikari Warrior series too.

Some codes can be reused, and this MIGHT be the case of that happening. Maybe they just thought nobody is going to attempt to shoot the general?

I have to admit, the action cue in the NES Rambo is awesome.
avgn forgot to mention about how badass the 8-bit music is in this game. Or at least the jungle music.

Same here. The only way to beat this game was with the Game Genie, much like AVGN did in his Ghostbusters review. Every time I made my way up the stairs, I kept getting hit by those damn ghosts.

password is long because it contain information about your progress, ammo and experience. it's something between saved game and classic level password
This really needs to be visited again, like look at how many more Rando games there were, just prime for a revisit
The long password is kind of excusable when you have THAT MANY weapons and the password encodes ammo count for each one.
Thanks for making this video. I was given this game (cartridge only) as a gift when I was around 10. It was so shitty. I have most of my NES games as a kid, even shitty ones, but have no idea where this one ended up. Maybe I actually threw it away I was so pissed about how bad it was.

Don't forget the snakes are recycled in Nightmare on Elm Street, and I'm pretty sure Rambo resembles the Javelin thrower.. in the same game.

The Master System game was originally Ashura in Japan on the Sega Mark III having nothing to do with the Rambo license. It was Secret Command in the PAL version.
That Sega Master System Rambo game reminds me a lot of Heavy Barrel for the NES.

Having played Rambo for SMS, I can tell you that nearly everything he says here is wrong. There are power ups available if you blast the blinking huts with an explosive arrow. You won't automatically respawn in an obstructed area unless you choose to.
Yeah in fact once you get all the power ups and lesrn how to dodge the bullets the game is pretty easy until the last stage with the cops

I had Rambo for SMS as a kid, but it was called COMMANDO in Europe, exactly same game except for the title screen. Maybe they had some licensing problem in Europe..

The intro sequence if you refuse to take the mission reminds me of the Milgrim experiments on authority and Fallout New Vegas's Vault 11.
I have fond memories of this game. Sometimes the odd games with trippy soundtracks stuck with me even when terrible

wariolandgoldpiramid Yup. Whenever you have long passwords it's because they contain save data. Only short ones are "simple" passwords, such as for example, in Lemmings, where the passwords are just 6 letter codes because they're just used to jump to another level (there's not any other info inside). The AVGN is always complaining about long passwords in his videos, which seems like a good topic to bitch about, but those kinds of passwords actually had a reason to exist back then.
