Cone area would make a big difference here. With all else being equal, 2 12's or 15's would probably be louder. Would they drop as low as an 18"? Probably not.
Shoutout to Brett nicely kicker support well over 50+ emails with him giving me advice you guys have gained a forever customer solely through your support all the way from his to set up a mono by myself and it’s not enough I’m now gonna be doing a 5 channel thanks to him and some aid from Crutchfield
If sundown releases their Z8 and their nightshade 8 and digital designs releases their mini z, kicker will loose the truck market without a solo x 8! They don't need a field recone kit and all they have to do is develop the motor to go on the L7 Q Class soft parts and basket literally!
It's something we will always contend with: speed. When you build something completely from scratch, it takes time. We will never release something we are only "kind of" satisfied with for the sake of being first. It will pass our QC tests, our durability tests, our weather tests, and our sound quality tests - or it will never see the light of day. We care too much not to put that much work into something that has our name on it. So if we make an 8" version of the Solo X - it'll be worth the wait. Stay tuned on that.
Would (1) 18” L7X out perform (2) 12” or 15” L7X subs?
