Also, in weather below freezing, you may not be able to use the automatic tire pressure system as condensation in your air lines will freeze and block them (if that system is still in place) . Just some quirks to be aware of.

For the M939 Series,they actually have a M934,which has a shell on the back and you can easily convert into a camper.Same way with the M820 from the M809 Series.For the deuce and a half,you could buy a M109A3 or M185A3,even a M109A4,that are shop trucks too.

Yeah, the 5t brings back a lot of bad memories. As an M.P. almost all of the vehicle incidents that involved 5tons were operator related, specifically they underestimated the distance needed to stop and plowed into the back of the vehicle in front of them. Or wall, lots of walls.

Awesome 5 ton. We have been trying to get a Japanese Mini Truck with a lift for our equine therapy program. Our program has several clients in wheelchairs or with a physical disability that a mini truck with a lift would be perfect. Plus when we go to hospitals it would helps us get the kids onto the horses.

The five ton trucks first came out in 1951 by International Harvestor,and then Studebaker built them on contract,as well with many other manufacturers as the years came.They were gas trucks at first,then they went with Mack engines,and they even had Multi-Fuels at one point just like the M35A2,this was for the M51-M62/M348-M648,which are the M39/M54 Series.All the later variations of the five ton trucks came out to using Cummins only,starting in 1969,the Kaiser Jeep M812-M820,being from the M809/M813 Series all used and only had the NHC-250 and were built on contract by AM General.In 1982 was when AM General came out with the M939/M923 Series,which is the M923-M943,M923A1-M945A1,and M923A2-M943A2.The M923-M943 were the first ones and they had G177 dual tires,these were also the first of the five ton trucks to use Allison Automatics,the M923A1-M945A1 uses Super Singles and both trucks are from AM General and have the NHC-250 just like the M809's.The M923A2-M943A2 came out in 1987 and has the 6CT only,they are also made by BMY Harsco,and still use Super Singles but only have CTIS (Command Tire Inflation System).They kept building them until 1994.
