Tyler did say when introducing the video that even though it’s based on the moment from the show, he really tapped into his own emotions and experience with recently losing his grandma. It’s so beautiful.
And, it's somewhat triple entendre, the song eventho specifically talk about the Arcane's Viktor lore and Tyler's memory with her Nana, but if you look at it using the perspective of the Clique, it also talks about how Clancy has the potential to be Bishop, and if he does become one, there'll be people who'll "disappointed" in him, and there'll be people who'll support his decision, with the underline that he'll try to do better than the "control freak" Bishops before him. ....... that if he crossed The Line.

I won’t say what the temp track was, but it was a song that immediately made me think that Tyler Joseph has to write this. The moment was designed for this band. We have great relationships with managers and labels, and we knew that Tyler was a fan of the show and that they wanted to do something with us. We went to their manager, Chris Woltman, and I just said, ‘Look, we have the perfect scene for him. Would he consider doing it?’ He never really writes for anything else, but he loves the show so they wanted to see it and we sent it over. Literally three days after he got the scene, we got the song back. In a lot of the cases, with ‘Arcane’, we have four or five artists try something and try a completely different energy. But when that one came in it was like, ‘Okay, well, that’s it’.”

the song in the Arcane lore context is about the character Viktor, he has the ability to "seize" the dead, he's able to heal and resurrect, but also use them as messengers. viktor loses himself in this. you can definitely see inspiration tyler has taken from this in tøp lore! this show is amazing, definitely watch!
Tyler said this song is about his grandma in an interview before the video was released - he was in the room with her when she died apparently and said that changed his life (he also mentions her in navigating when he talks about everybody leaving) - similar to how Heathens was about the fanbase, but also worked with the movie there are also some theories that this ties into Clancy possibly crossing over to becoming a bishop - and this could sort of be a teaser into that being the conclusion of the story
Please watch Arcane. It's a masterpiece. Tyler wrote this in 3 days after receiving the scene in the show this song plays during. He recently witnessed his grandmother passing, so this is incredibly personal. It's so beautiful, so painful.

First of all, this song and video are absolutely beautiful and can be interpreted in many different ways. I know that this was written for Arcane, however it is odd that it only took Tyler 3 days to have it fully done. It makes me wonder if maybe he already started writing this to honor his grandmother and possibly use it as part of the continuation of the lore. It’s kind of crazy to me that the synth at the end of the Paladin Strait video when Tyler opens his eyes sounds a lot like the beginning of this song. I have also heard of a theory that has been swirling around about Clancy becoming a Bishop and it’s pretty convincing if this song has anything to do with the lore since it mentions crossing over, facing fears, and mentions of disappointing someone (the banditos?). Another reason I think this could relate to that theory is because of the letters that were recently found during the tour at the FPE exhibit. There was a message from those letters that read: “We must destroy them, or we will become them, and if we become them, we must do better”.

We can't. Uploading music reactions is already full of issues let alone a show. Plus we don't have the time.
Eric “This is not what I was expecting” every time! 😂😂😂
Arcane is an INCREDIBLE show. Pure peak cinematography, and emotion
Please both of you do yourselves a favor and watch Arcane!
Arcane was magnificent imagery and story telling combined with hand picked music to enhance everything into one amazing show.
I have had this on repeat. 💜 That line (no pun) Did I disappoint you? Will they let me over? If I cross the line. 💔😭 Great reaction!
Look up Tyler’s explanation of the meaning behind the sing for him- he was in the room when his Grandma died….it changed him.
Just like everyone else said, WATCH THE SHOW. 😂
Absolutely amazing
This is the best animated series I've ever seen!! You should watch it, it's amazing. The song is so sentimental
You guys absolutely need to watch Arcane. It’s probably one of the most visually pleasing shows I’ve ever seen and easily one of the greatest animated shows ever made.
I believe this answered the end of Clancy. Tyler has his ways of making one song incorporate several stories. So sorry for his loss.
Such a beautiful song. And you should definitely watch Arcane. I don't know the game, but the show is phenomenal.
Arcane is by far the best animated TV show or movie ever made. Its the highest rated Netflix original of all time, and currently season 2 is tied for the highest rated TV show season of all time. this show will tear your heart out over and over and over again. would love to see a reaction series for the show!! It is only 2 seasons long, there wont be a season 3 sadly
you absolutely have to watch the series
Yall should watch Arcane! I don't really care for the game, but the show was good! The music they use for the show in each episode fits the scenes so well
Arcane does a really good job of setting up characters without having to play League of Legends

I have never played the game but the show is amazing. This song is just the cherry on TØP 😉❤️🔥 |-/
This was inspired by the show. He liked the first season and write it thinking on the characters. But we can still relate to it in some way. It is beautiful.
This song hit me as hard as neon gravestone.
Watch Arcane, it is a spiritual journey that I wish I could go back to for the first time. Excited for the three new series coming out
Guys, in Arcane they use sad songs indeed. I recommend "Wasteland".
My husband is watching Arcane and I’ve only been kind of following it, but the animation is beautiful.
TOP FTW!!!
Arcane was the best show I've ever watched, the animation the soundtrack everything about it was amazing and the massive budget they had shows, Its 100% worth the watch if you guys liked this song, they have so many fantastic songs on their soundtrack.
the most heartbreaking line🫂
Clancy crosses the line, becomes a bishop, feels the torchlight on his face, and asks Josh if he disappointed him
