Nice review, Zack! I'm sharing this video with my friend, he's a huge Volvo fan and his parents currently have an older XC90 with super high miles and they absolutely love it. It just keeps going, and they're not exactly gentle with vehicles.
I had a 2003 one, I loved every part of it except the automatic transmission. Heard GM played a part in supplying them and everything made sense. Miss it dearly.
Yeah even in late 2002, the talk on the forums was all about the terrible 4 speed. I ordered a 2.5T in late 2002 because of the transmission and it was the best decision.
@@captainamericaamerica8090 That was the worst version the T6. They stopped producing that in 2006 I believe. There are a few versions so always avoid that one
Interesting..just came across your channel. I am a Volvo technician so it's always interesting to see people's takes on these cars. I also own a 2011 XC70 purchased from a customer. They are great cars just very expensive to repair even from a tech who gets discounts on parts.
Actually no those arent Ford style climate controls, that's all Volvo. The way you can tell is on a Ford, the fan "off" setting is a part of the "where you want it" control rather than the fan speed control.
The XC90 & S80 also had an available 4.4L V8 until I believe 2014. I own a 2008 XC90 AWD V8 Sport as my 2nd vehicle and I LOVE it, especially for camping trips & winter driving conditions.
I was always wondering what this looked/handled like, the 2008 LR2 uses this engine (among so many other parts). It's been helpful grabbing Volvo parts instead of Land Rover not just for cost, but availability.
This generation came out in 2002 and was made until 2014. This looks a bit 00s but it's a good enough design that Volvo didn't need to change it. Once SUVs replaced wagons the XC90 became peak Volvo. Just enough ruggedness and upscale-ness. I didn't know these had Range Rover style tailgates. Shame about Euro car reliability and running cost. Wikipedia says that noted car snob Jeremy Clarkson owned three and praised how family-friendly they are.
I had a 2006 one, mine was a pos and died a bunch of times and finally traded it in for a 2010 Toyota Corolla LE that I love so much more. Now don’t get me wrong I like my Volvo XC90 cause of the size cause I like big size cars but the gas was so much and parts + oil changes
I want one of these as a ski beater so bad. But I have a dead simple reliable K1500 suburban that also functions as a junk hauler so it's hard to justify
Oh crap no. I don't want the inline six. I love inline sixes but the 3.2 was a shit engine that Ford pushed Volvo to make because they didn't want to pay to put a turbo in every Volvo. T5 forever.
I've got an 08 V8 and I highly recommend getting your hands on one if you can find one in decent mechanical shape. Some parts are getting hard to find, but far from impossible
A problem with the infotainment systems in the early 2010s is that they are left to get outdated as the auto manufacturers don't update them, So, they have outdated navigation maps and don't have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (which I want)
MY GRAMPS DOESN'T NEED ALL THE ADVANCES. HE'S OLD SCHOOL. WHAT YEARS WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR HIM. HE WANTS A XTRA LARGE SIMPLE TOUGH SUV. SAFE! CAUSE HE HAS A BUM LEG, 😮😩FROM KOREAN WAR. WOUNDS
Base model, and still the same interior as most if not all the first gen XC90s. My 08 V8 Sport (top trim level, unlike every other brand's "sport" trim) looks similar, but a fair deal more... Impressive? Luxurious? Idk, I'll settle on "pretty damn baller for a 14 year old car"
Love how the gauges are the same in all the P2 cars

I have a 2008 XC90 V8 Sport, the precursor to the R, and I absolutely love it. 200,000 miles on it and it's still the spitting image of luxury.
No transmission issues?

Thinking about picking one up this weekend.
Classic & classy!

What years would you recommend?? Thanks,!
That inline 6 is unbreakable. I got my vehicle at 59,000 miles, currently 113,000. & Still feels newish.
Burns oil? Mine started at 100k but it’s only 1 quart every 3500

@@thirdpedalnirvana what years would you suggest? As better,? Best? For durable motors? Bodies
I’d love one of the V8 ones

What year is the best for the volvo xc90?
I recognize the cigarette lighter socket with several charging cables attached spilling into the passenger footwell. 😂😂😂
Is this one of the Yamaha sourced engines? Thx
Just the 4.4 v8
That's the 4.4 V8. I have one and I absolutely adore it

The navigation system in mine is laughably outdated, but it's fun watching the screen slide up and down in and out of the dash 😂
Do you have the information on the aftermarket infotainment system? It looks nice.
Looks like a 'legend' stereo, an XC90 owner built a kit a sells them through their own FB page
This is the Legend system. There's a private FB group where someone custom makes the system exclusively for xc90s.
arent you the guy who i saw on Gingium videos?
Reliable?
what is the color code of your car
I watch you from Ukraine,I don’t understand all you say but the video is very interesting))
I want to see you review a v50 they're my favorite,
Come to NY and review my 850R
My gramps went with Older ford's EXCURSIONS
BECAUSE OF 8 GRAND KIDS. MASSIVE! SAFE! SOLID
You dont know seats. The vovlo seats are way more comfortable than most. Who cares about looks, trim etc. Its the comfort thst matters.
You also mentioned jack shit about the safety. Their frames are much more reinforced.
They’re cheap now don’t ruin it lol
For 2013 interior looked so dated

I was gonna ask the same!
