    Boxing people talk a lot of Bull Shit about the importance of footwork. But most boxers have shitty footwork because they don't even know what good footwork means. So...it's refreshing to see a fighter train for good footwork, and to especially practice moving backwards before they face a guy like Margarito. Cotto and Pedro Diaz did some smart training - some real footwork training - and used that training to win the fight!

    145lbs didnt kill him at all! the timing was all wrong, comming off a controversial win against joshua clottey, Losing to margarito a couple of fights ago, fight with his uncle and being trained by one of his guys who work for him as a cut man i believe was what hurt him. He has an amazing trainer now, and is in great condition much better than he was after the margarito fight physically and skill wise.

    @Cypressparkboxing No the Fu*k it doesn't dogg. I've ALWAYS said tony beats cotto 7 days/wk & twice on sunday. & the fights after pac cotto looked the same. But miguel could Never fight bakwards & this guy has him training for a stalker. & has miguel pivoting his ass off...& punching at he same time. As for his crouching style...that;s the same. But his movement is totally diff. As well as the speed. it's faster. not slow & methodical. He looks good here. We'll see if he has PTSD Sat.

    Hes working on the mistakes that he made the first fight. In the first fight cotto did not give margarito angles. When ever he backed up he went straight back. Cotto outboxed margarito for the first six rounds. His speed was helping him win the fight until the sixth round. I think he learned from his mistakes and will capitalize. He will win big this time. I agree. this is the best training that ive seen him have in a long time

    Mosley did the opposite of what every other opponent that Margarito has fought, HE WENT FORWARD... Marga's game plan has always been to put the pressure on the opponent. But Mosley pushed Margarito back and bullied him. I know that Mosley is stronger and physically bigger than Cotto, but I hope that Cotto doesn't gas out backpedaling against Margarito again... Hopefully it was the loaded wraps that gassed Cotto out... Otherwise I see the same outcome.

    @superstar2983 emmany stewart helps on the fundamentals, i dont know much about this trainer but maybe he helps with the footwork. Every Trainer has there own trait and teaching style, miguel seems to match with this trainer well

    miguel cotto hasnt been the same since parting ways with his uncle evangelista cotto. watching this mit work im dissapointed again that noone is working on slipping under punches n walking forward while moving his head. To me this fight will b similar to the first with Cotto winning tho. please cotto as a big fan of yours go back to your uncle.

    So they're going to use the entirety of the ring to outbox Tony. He needs to focus on banging to the body to slow Margarito down. If not, it's damn near impossible to navigate around him. A UD is very likely, but if I'm Cotto I'll want to press a stoppage in the late rounds. That way there's no question as to who's the better man. You're fans are rooting for you~!!!

    This is the best training ive seen Cotto have in a very long time... Foot work looks tremendous and he is not just standing there like he did the first fight... Watch the workouts from the first fight then u tell me whats the difference... Cotto going to give him a boxing clinic...

    why does he throw those hooks with his hand turned when he's working out? I've noticed it in more than one of Cotto's training vids - is there a reason behind it or just habit? thanks

    this trainer is more skilled than emanuel stewart.cotto's footwork has been a mess his entire career.nice to see a trainer who made the observation and is working on it.

    I agree, this trainer looks like he is focused on working on improving Cotto's lateral footwork. This will be key in defeating Margacheato.

  • @itsmachotime
    @itsmachotime 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    He also needs to work on blocking uppercuts... his inability to stop Margs uppercuts was a huge factor in him taking unecessary punches.

    You can even see the way he has got Cotto throwing the long left hook amateur style with a bending knee, gets power and stays out of range and if connects properly lets you in quickly with a straight cross right followed by a close Tysonesque left hook.

    This trainer is doing subtle things which are the best I have seen and you can acyually see how a fighter would develop and when and which situation he would use the skills, it is like a sparring the way he follows closes down distance. Beautiful watch.
