As much of a Ring fan I am, it's safe to say that Ring sucks nowadays compared to what's out there now. Others companies like Reolink and Eufy have solars cams pushing 4K video which increases the ability to actually identify persons and finer details. Meanwhile Ring cams are still stuck in 1080p which is like the stones ages.
Thanks for the awesome video. As a professional security consultant I'm very curious on the UV solar items. Please keep us updated. Also I have some suggestions for outdoor deterrence camera if interested
I actually installed and wired (didn't film) in a foam insulated attic a while back and I can tell you it is not fun...well it is good that it is not hot in the attic but trying to find the hole that you made outside inside is not easy.
Curious to see how it’s going to work out for him, this is the camera that I recommend for when there isn’t a power source nearby and PoE isn’t an option
This has audio too ? Can you talk to person thru camera if you want them to leave or ssy who are you etc . Dies ut gavd a light to come on or alarm to scare person away
Hello 👋 after watching this video. In the end of the day . Bought eufy S220 solo cam. Put it outside the garage. Setting to maxium motion and sound detection. But concern is it detects only 4 to 6 feet away??? Is that normal? Thank you and more power to your channel.👍
No. It should detect farther than that. Make sure the movement is going across the camera. Watch this -. th-cam.com/video/W6IzldAnu0s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DzBT5r9RFPeeVhBI
My plants just got vandalized by my neighbor, now I keep looking over my shoulder. Thank you for showing this quick installation, I'm heading to Best Buy 🚘
Awesome video. I'm looking for something like this. An outdoor camera that works on 4G that can be mounted with magnets. Are there options to have power via USB cable/power adapter? Not just solar panel. Thanks
Great video, as always. Curious, why not use the Eufy S340 for this application? It does everything the 220 does, but better for a few extra $$. Since seeing your excellent review on the S340 I have had a hard time justifying any other camera purchases. I would think the motion tracking alone would have been a feature very valuable for this application since it would add way more coverage for such a large piece of real estate..
The only reason is that I don't want to make extra holes on the metal building to mount the S340. I'm not even sure if someone is selling a magnetic mount for it plus it might be too heavy for a magnetic mount. This is also why the other options would be a wired E330 prof. and use the alarm.com's screw holes or the Floodlight cam to hopefully use the junction box of the current light.
His router is on the left corner of the door and about 8 feet high. I was concerned on this initially because metal buildings and WiFi signals don’t get along. Then, I found out that the alarm.com camera is WiFi as well.
I tought you would have started the recording a bit early like 4:35 am, and the end of recording a lil late as well 5:45-ish pm, just because.... can't be too careful. 😊
Hi, do you know of any mounts that will work with the eufy s220 solocam? Need one that has a little more adjustability. It will be going on the side of a shed. Thank you :)
Not with this one and generally Eufy cameras, their AI is good that I don't have false motion notifications as long I select human and/or pet detection only.
Now im a Ring person as I have Ring cameras all over my house but i do own a commercial office and I have a bunch of Reolink cameras set up there. They work great. Definitely the best NVR system you can get.
I used to come to you to get my security needs. But blink, you talk about. It's good. They get hacked a lot so does ring. And you say eufy is good too I put in one of your things. A buddy of mine had one. With a home base 3 and the 2C. Cameras and does not hardly pick up anything anymore. I don't know if it's the home base itself. The AI isn't working. He told me sometimes he would get notifications 15 minutes later. Or not at all. Basically, it only picks up about thirty percent of the time if that
Used to come..well Welcome back! Sorry that your friend have issues with their Eufy and I haven’t heard that Blink and Ring got hacked? Who hacked them? Or is it just user error?
I'm not saying I used to. I'm still subscribed to your channel. I used to come to your channel to get my security camera information. But I have nothing but problems with the ones I have purchased
Watch more of my videos especially Reolink and see if I have issues accessing the app. I’m not sure where you got the “everybody” doesn’t like the app idea, because there are tons of people that have been using Reolink.
Thanks for the video. By the way, Eufy is the worse…I’ve a long time supporter/user of their products and just experienced my first warranty issue…they refuse to help on a product they are admitting is their fault on moisture getting into the camera. 😢
I like this idea of showing real installations solving people’s needs on security systems. Well done 👏
You not only helped your friend, you ,actually, helped thousands of us who were bit confused by all the different brands in the market!, thanks :)
Thank you!
I love videos like this.. Keep us posted.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for walking us through your thought process. Looking forward to that larger project.
I appreciate it. Thanks for watching!

Thank you. Yes, I'm learning a lot on this bigger project.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for this! I appreciate it.
I did this type of install but with 3m adhesive for 2 ring stick up cam pro
Indoor.
Perfect for installs on steel beams.
Hopefully the 3M tape holds. Mounting tape usually fails on me after a few days to months.

@@DustyRolleWhat does that have do with mounting a camera
Looking forward to the reolink commercial building install!
It is fun and definitely learning...especially that commercial buildings have metal studs!

Magnetic mount is genius. Thinking of sticking it to roof gutter going down backyard. Could it hold the heavier s330?
Nice vid. Wish you'd do an install on a two-story home with existing insulated & fire-blocked walls.
That would be awesome.
I actually installed and wired (didn't film) in a foam insulated attic a while back and I can tell you it is not fun...well it is good that it is not hot in the attic but trying to find the hole that you made outside inside is not easy.

I will ask him in the next few weeks.
Hi hope all is well. How is your friend liking Eufy solo cam and notifications on that commercial enviro? Thx!!
Is the magnetic holder comes along with the camera ?
are there any good gutter mounts for this particular solar camera?
Long time watcher, first time caller... The simplest option in my mind is Reolink doorbell camera...
The only thing is that I have to drill holes and also Reolink has removed the rich notifications on their WiFi doorbell.
This has audio too ? Can you talk to person thru camera if you want them to leave or ssy who are you etc . Dies ut gavd a light to come on or alarm to scare person away
I like the idea of the camera can you do one on the ring, spotlight, cam plus wired
We will see. I'm toying on the idea of adding these type of videos in the channel.
what cam would you recommend to protect a cash register in a barbershop?
Out of all the cameras you have reviewed whats are your top 3 favorites.
Reolink CX410 first, followed by Eufy SoloCam S340 and their floodlight cam E340.

Is this model only solar power? Also, does the Eufy products requiere home base 3 to work?

Great video and solution!
If only these cams were HomeKit compatible ☹️
Not this Eufy model unfortunately.

Wonder how these works in real cold weather and how close to the router does it have to be for Wifi?
His router is on the left corner of the door and about 8 feet high. I was concerned on this initially because metal buildings and WiFi signals don’t get along. Then, I found out that the alarm.com camera is WiFi as well.
Will strong wind with vibration will cause the camera to fall off? Will someone just steal the camera?
I'm assuming it will not. the magnets are decently strong but time will tell.
So these do not require the base station?
The SoloCam series of Eufy doesn't need a Homebase it can connect to your wifi directly or you can also add it to the homebase.
Thanks for the reply. I’m still leaning towards Reolink with Scrypted so I can use HomeKit. Have you used scrypted for that purpose?
Interesting deviation from your usual product reviews.
Hackster this mount could also be used as a gutter mount can't it?
I would like to let you know also ezviz cameras now support rich notification.
I tought you would have started the recording a bit early like 4:35 am, and the end of recording a lil late as well 5:45-ish pm, just because.... can't be too careful. 😊
It will record every event. The one that I scheduled are the notifications.

Any regular 1/4 20 security mount should work. There are lots of them at Amazon.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Mounting a camera in the elements you’ll get tons of false notifications when it rains unless you turn off the built in IR illuminator.
Not with this one and generally Eufy cameras, their AI is good that I don't have false motion notifications as long I select human and/or pet detection only.
Can you just buy the camera its self without the home-based?
It this case, yes. The SoloCam series works by itself but can be hooked to a HomeBase for better AI detection and expandable storage.
Yes, you can connect it directly to your WiFi.
@@LifeHackstercan you set home and away without a homebase? Thanks!

Nice 👍
Unifi door access is what we use.
He wants a cheaper option first. Eventually depending on the growth of this 24/7 access, he will upgrade to an access control system.
There are reports from users saying Eufy’s solar battery cams die after the year with the cells looking like they are blown out
I haven't experienced any on mine yet. The only thing that I noticed was the solar panel peeling and yellowing of the camera but that's it.
I've had mine in the Texas sun 2 years still good however the face of the camera has turned yellow
Ezviz was not a choice??
I thought about that but I haven’t seen them adding new products here in the US.
OK there are new ones if you go to there website!!@@LifeHackster

Wyze v4….
It needs to be plugged in.
Easiest camera to steal :)
True but going in that area, there is at least 2 cameras watching you. And you need to have a ladder.
