In my experience, having my home broken into... It is best to try all you can to hide valuables, but it is no gaurentee. Keep valuables in the bank. Paper work in a safety deposit box in a bank. They stripped everything in my home. They even took refrigerator, clothes, even my childs room was stripped. It had to be a group of individuals. The BIGGEST, most expensive thing they took was my IDENTITY!! I will never recover from this mess. The inspector says they sell identifying information across state lines and they keep selling it until they can no longer use it. ( meaning my credit is too ruined to use it). One person was arrested for having her picture with my identifying information. Printers can do it all these days. Oh, one more thing, creditors dont care that it wasnt you who ran up thousands of dollars. So get a police report the second something is stollen and call your credit cards and bank. I didnt do this fast enough because it was paperwork they took, not my wallet. I didnt realize how much personal info can be pieced together with different documents. Im one of tens of thousands going through this. Now I pay cash, or I dont buy - no loans in my future!

Yeah, hiding stuff in a bottle of beans is good like the diamonds hiden in jar of coffee in that recent movie "I care for you" love the one of the top of the door and window sill . I think cutting hands off of thieves on the third offense man might not be such a bad idea..
Dudette...you’ve never been robbed before have you? None of these are genius. 🤣 You know why? The average break in takes less than 3-5 minutes. When my home was broken into every, let me repeat that, EVERY surface was disrupted! Drawers were yanked out, cabinets emptied, closets gone through, books ripped from the shelves, cubbards, refrigerator, freezer, beds and mattresses overturned, clothing pockets checked and/or taken, even shoes, toilets opened, curtains and blinds yanked, toys were rambled thru - no stone was left unturned! If it wasn’t nailed down, it was taken! Except we had kind and thoughtful crooks because we had 3 TVs. They left us the small 12 inch black and white 😃. That was over 20 years ago so I can smile about it now but at the time we felt so violated. And it’s a feeling you don’t forget. We had a gallon jar we saved pennies in that was of course taken as it was full and to this day I will find a stray penny here or there on the ground in my back yard to serve as a reminder of what happened that day. Thankfully my husband was at work, my children were in school and I was at work. Our little dog was at home but fortunately she was not harmed and they left her there. The best hiding places are the ones you won’t find on the internet or you tube. But your intent is in the right place. Thieves know what they are doing. It’s sad but it’s what they do while we are out making an honest living. You might be able to outsmart them some of the time but don’t count on it. Best to be prepared with knowledge and a security system and that’s not a guarantee. Legal personal protection is looking better and better...

Here's a good one: ( my own invention ) Find the cold air return in your room. It's about 7-8 feet off the floor. Remove the vent cover. Reach down in the wall about 6 inches and screw a cup hook into the wooden stud. There should be no insulation in the cold air return. Put your valuables in a plastic bag, the kind with handles. Hang the bag by the handles on the hook. Replace the vent cover. A thief would have to have a screwdriver and something to stand on. It's not going to happen unless he knows there is something there. Sleep tight.
There is nothing secret anymore about your great ideas. You've just let millions of people know where things can be hidden so anyone that has an idea of where ti find things when you are not home is not good
